  11. Even though I am a dyed in the wool ex-LMS man, I often saw 68619 when travelling from Liverpool Street, it really stood out in those dark caverns.......so definitely one for me. Rgds..Mike
  12. Hi Dale, Could be either, I suspect it depends on the period and the locomotives you are modelling, in the book Working Steam, Stanier Jubilees it clearly shows both e.g. 45596 & 45562 in 1966 red name and smoke box number plates, 45636 red nameplate 1960, 45632 red nameplate 1963, the majority however appear to be black, on page 79 there are four photos of nameplates 3 are black one is red which appears to confirm this. I don't know if it is still in print but it has some great shots of the Jubilees almost all in colour, well worth getting if you are interested in the class. Rgds.....Mike

  16. Mine arrived in Oz yesterday late, looked at it under the magnifier in the light today...........WHAT A BEAUTY, yes a couple of things need to be looked at (coupling chains , bogie brakes, etc. but I never thought I would open a box for this to pop out. Have to say some of the models we are seeing today could not have been contemplated just a few years ago. Hope Hattons/ Heljan make a few Bucks from this. Rgds.......Mike
  17. Apologies to all for going O/T but does anyone know if the compound in the forthcoming train set is the same as the NRM model. C1 Fabulous loco, congratulations Bachmann/NRM..........just got to win the lottery!! Rgds....Mike
  18. We have lots of snakes here in Inman Valley South Australia(11 sightings in November alone), mostly Red Bellied Blacks and a number of Eastern Browns, both venomous, particularly the Browns but as faulcon said they get out your way generally. Also lots of Redbacks again unless you touch them they are quite harmless, I am far more concerned for my dog than anything else. My sister-in-law had a place in NSW where there were lots of Funnel Webs, she was never bitten though(come to think of it, if she had been it would probably have been the spider that would have died!!!........oops sorry Bronwyn) Mike
  19. I had never considered Narrow Gauge before...........but NOW! Mike

Rob, They are definitely not, I am sure that many like me really enjoy them, keep posting!!, incidentally, I have been given a book "Railroads of New Zealand" by David Leitch which is a little outside my sphere of interest, if you're interested PM me and I'll send it to you, I'm just over the ditch in South Australia.
