  1. Were these wagons exclusively restricted to MOD traffic or could they be found working for other customers?
  2. has anyone any experience of these paints? The range looks comprehensive. https://www.sprayster.com/coloured-spray/
  3. Hi all. I wondered if anyone had attempted, successfully, this operation and could give me some tips and pointers? Regards, Peak
  4. Thanks for all your replies. A hot wire cutter sounds interesting. I'll look into that.
  5. Thanks Andy. I'm hoping not to have to cover it. I want to sculpt it and then just paint it. I feel, from working on a small piece with a Stanley blade, that that's going to give the best result. I may spray it was something like Plasticote just to give it a bit more strength and robustness against knocks.
  6. Hi all, I'm using Celotex foam for my scenery. It's a dense foam used in loft insulation. I'm making rocks/cliff faces i.e, a gorge/landslip. I'm guessing it's a common material to use and I wondered what tools/techniques others had used to sculpt it. A Stanley knife blade is too short for some of the deep cuts I'd be wanting to make. I'm looking for a tool that'll leave flat, smooth surfaces so I'm guessing a serrated edge wouldn't be an option. I'd be grateful for any hints/tips etc anyone could provide.
  7. Yes, that's interesting and it has maybe informed my decision not to buy one now. I model Manchester region, late 70s/early 80s and ScR region, same period and I'm guessing these cranes wouldn't have been seen in those parts.
  8. Thanks chaps. That what I thought. For the record, I like them.
  9. Just a quick one. Am I correct in thinking that there are only 3 coaches in this range, a Brake Composite, a Second Corridor and a Buffet?
  10. The profile of the lower edge of the blade is seriously wrong on the model. It's straight on the prototype and massively curved on the models
  11. So we're presumably all still looking for a dimensionally correct snowplough then? I'm surprised someone with a 3D printer hasn't made replacement plough blades for these models
  12. Hi all, These models use the same CAD i believe, and the plough shape is very wrong. Has ayone come up with a workable solution as to a fix? Perhaps there are some 3D printed replacement plough blades for these vehicles that i've not come across? Any help gratefully accepted.
  13. Did you consider having a second line between the retaining wall and the straight line?
  14. Thank you for all your replies. A short (little wonder), but informative thread.
  15. I've seen plenty of photos of class 27s at Inverness so I'm presuming (maybe incorrectly) that IS drivers were passed out on these machines. I don't think I've ever seen a pic of a 27 on these either the Kyle or Far North lines. Can anyone shed any light on any uses over the years, of these engines working these lines?
  16. The story of my life! I've never understood how these architectural masterpieces are produced by some folk. Mine consist of layers of filler on filler and plastic shims and anything else I can cram into the gaps.
  17. Actually a heavy covering of snow on the plough is a good way to cover up the shape error of the blade. I've a couple in 'n' gauge and I've been hoping against hope that someone would make a 3D replacement blade.
  18. Have you any photos of your conversion? I'd like to see it.
  19. Thank you all. This info is invaluable. My requirements are for for fine lines on window glazing so I'm hoping an exact match isn't that necessary.
  20. I realise there may not be one that comes close. Nevertheless I'm still looking for the nearest.
  21. Hi all, What is the nearest Sharpie Pen colour to BR Blue please? (I'm colourblind)
  22. It certainly looks from the EP pic that the 'crease' is absent. It's a definite line on the prototype.
