  1. Sssshhhh!!!!! ............. ............ Dad doesn't know yet!
  2. Some delightful shots in the video, compliments to the camera man and the editor. Hoping that the 2 people on the bridge, near the end were not you and Anthony ......... Thanks you both J
  3. Nice pictures Marcus - but it does look a wee bit chilly! Regards J
  4. Agree totally, let's hope it fizzles out by the time it get to your northern latitudes J
  5. "About to get warmer" ... ?? Does that include the megga storm which is wandering towards your neck of the woods? Regards J
  6. A small experiment on the new boards {well one of them anyway]. Last night the permanent way team arrived. Lots of activity by Julian Redfern, on Flickr They were not back, early this morning, so a peek at the "goings on" was possible. The truck with the equipment had gone. PW Team arrive by Julian Redfern, on Flickr Made a bit of a spectacle of myself there. Everything seemed a bit temporary, with loads of sticky stuff. like giant BluTac, looks like some sort of testing. I got a video of a Servo motor which swung to horizontal left and right. {Edit - videos take a moment or two to load} Points swing by Julian Redfern, on Flickr and and a video of a Bell-crank with Point Rodding attached Points and Rodding by Julian Redfern, on Flickr They were clearly attempting to swing two sets of Points with one motor and make it look like the Points were operated separately. I got a video of a test. The top one swung first followed by the lower one. Reversing swung the lower one first, then the top one. Top first then nearest and reverse by Julian Redfern, on Flickr I videoed a slower motion test from the side. Here it is right Points first then left. Reverse again opposite order, with left Points first. Quite a lot of compression on the springs but no chatter from the Servo, as the Arm/Horn is in-line with the axle. Looks like the electrickery is by Peco Smartswitch, but the Servo is a smaller one, to go under the platform. Right first then left first by Julian Redfern, on Flickr Servo arm in line by Julian Redfern, on Flickr Seems like there is a bit of connector testing too, with 3 on view. One used the central hole, another was wrap-round Point-Rodding and an unmade connector to be soldered onto the Rodding. Peronaly, I think they might well go with the brass connector, although the centre hole is less obtrusive, it is more difficult to deal with, should something around the Points need repair. L bend in centre by Julian Redfern, on Flickr Round the spike by Julian Redfern, on Flickr Regards J
  7. .............. Blimey ...................................... .................................... how old did you say you were???? J
  8. ........................... one might ask what might be revealed in such close up pictures. J
  9. I can think of a home where they could make most useful contribution!! The cost would be quite high - but completely worth it. That would be my "Trump card", in the debate. :sungum: J
  10. Would have done - but didn't have time for the washing, whilst making the house. :jester:
  11. Ahh! I stand corrected, I wasn't aware that Polaris was visible in that direction. J
  12. While learning to teach - many Moons ago - some bright spark, in the Dept of Edikayshun got the boliticians to come out with the idea that all teachers should teach all kids the same and like the kids they taught. The first idea was soon trashed but liking kids was sort of alright - but I could never manage to eat a whole one. J
  13. Does that mean the Russians have been through, on their way back? J
  14. Goodness gracious Sas!! ..... never you mind, don't you go listening to them comments now! Disgraceful load of mean-minded comments they are too! It's a lovely picture you used there ... now you've got the hair clippers ... very brave of you and what with living out in the middle of nowhere, anyway ... well I mean, it's not as if people are going to notice, way out there, surrounded by miles of trees and hills. Now the wood-burner is getting ready to be lit, you can always head off in the shed any time visitors are likely - just so long as you keep the door shut, of course. Just take no notice of the comments and keep at the skillful therapy modelling you do so well. Kindest of regards Julian
  15. We could lay in wait, with a Customs Cutter and impose a surcharge for polution. .............. Oh! Wait! That won't work, Mr Trump doesn't believe in polution, so he will instruct his Russian mates to refuse payment. J
  16. Just brings a smile every time I see another one of your ideas bear fruit. Thank you for the education. Julian
  17. Perhaps so the incoming waves don't get a continuous flow/run up an inline run of steps? Julian
  18. It's very neat. ....... Isn't that what is really meant by a prototype model? I've always wondered why modellers consider a full size loco/wagon/building was built as a Prototype for the, much later, purpose of planning for their model ..... Regards J Ducks, runs for the door ........ ....... bother, it's raining out there!! .......
  19. Take care Shaun, Spring gets closer by the day and having no alternative to modelling must have it's up side - despite the reduced lighting. The Oil lamp must be an opportunity to get some genuine smoke marks over the entrances to tunnels, bridges and engine sheds. [Not to forget the gentle warping due to heat ageing of the bricks and mortar.] Regards Julian
  20. That really does look highly unpleasant, to say the least {for once} .............. and I'm just referring to the view from here, let alone where they and you were!! J
  21. I've heard of Ships in them ....... ?? Still ........................ could start a whole new trend. :locomotive: Wrap up warm David, that's not pleasant out there. J
  22. That doesn't look at all comfortable, or easy to control the loads. Brrrr!! Regards J
  23. Aylesbury ......... Bahamas ...................... ? ....................... .......................... in any weather ........ what's keeping you??
