  1. Cheaper than our Chinese trader and legit, can of rail blue…..
  2. Well I don’t own an air fryer so my carrots are currently roasting on a top/bottom oven with fan setting as the main fan oven function is broken and trips the fuse. Cheat meal tonight, the shank of lamb is boiling in the steaming pan.
  3. These items are probably not fake, it’s not worth the effort for the small return. So they are items built for Dapol that for one reason or another have not reached Dapol for sale. -rejects -extras built from leftover batches -extras built on the production line to be sold and the profit split amongst those involved In all cases it’s going to be difficult or more difficult for EBay to prove the seller does not have a right to be selling them. I guess they might only act if Dapol raise a complaint and ask them to investigate, just a Louis Vuitton would probably do when it spots unauthorised items for sale.
  4. I know, said it be something like an hours shelf stacking in return for one bag of Maris Piper.
  5. @martin_wynne so what I am hearing is that the speaking clock was actually a doomsday device to tell us the levels of radiation but in peacetime it simply read the current time.
  6. Mrs W and I had the same discussion this morning about money being smoke and mirrors, but a return to barter probably isn’t in the cards. 😀
  7. Thanks Grace 😁
  8. I was looking at an “air fryer” last week in Asda whilst Mrs W was selecting a toaster for her gluten free stuff. Unless my eyes deceived me, the fryer worked by passing an electric current through a coil of metal that would glow red creating heat. I might be wrong, but isn’t that what a grill does in an oven? So the replacement for an oven is to have your oven grill on top of a kitchen surface and be harder to keep clean? I guess the money saving element is that the actual element is smaller than on an oven.
  9. Remove the tax exempt status of ISAs because they are costing the government and targetting the wrong people? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/investing/isas/20k-isa-tax-free-allowance-hard-to-justify/ No, sort out the low pay, high inflation, high rent and awful employment opportunities and perhaps low earners will be again able to save money. All changing the status of ISAs will do is give the government more money to waste whilst impacting middle income earners and offering even less of an incentive for lower income people to even try saving any money.
  10. I think younger people would have more respect and care for older people if said older people did step back from still trying to run the world after they retire. Like you mention, rigidity in thinking, resistance to change are not helpful in solving problems for the young. I look at the membership of certain political factions whose objective is to 'go back to how things were'. Their memberships seem to be at the older end of the spectrum and it's no wonder they are completely out of kilter with society in general. I read once that as teenagers we are all radical leftists because it spoke most to us about fairness and respect, but as we age we become more and more conservative in our views so it meant Labour attracted the young and Conservatives attracted the older generation. There has been a change somewhere because a lot of older people are now looking outside of the Conservative party, but it's telling that the polictics of said party is all about a return to the past and constant reminders of how the past was so great. I am guessing the other party now aiming to claim some more Conservative MPs is probably full of even more rigid thinkers who cannot see past their own nose. By all means remain active as a retiree, your life depends upon it, but don't cling to the past and try and maintain it.
  11. I think the canopy looks jolly good and reminds of many a station of my youth.
  12. Thing is he's not saying the ECML was used as a transmitter, in fact he is posing a question "Was the ECML used as a transmitter?" and then using his knowledge of radio to provide context as how it is typically done with masts, he then added American experiments and actual low to the ground transmitters that could signal around the world albeit with only short burst messages. So he never claimed the ECML was used and nor is he using any actual conspiracy theories to prove it, he simply said he'd heard of an urban legend and then made some logical inquiries to see if it was possible but the conclusion he came to was that he had no evidence to support it unless his subscribers had something else to add.
  13. @Colin_McLeod No point in asking them for advice about the DCC set up on these locos then 🤣
  14. Result - extra sausage in my tin of beans n sausage You have to celebrate the little victories in life haha
  15. A video but interesting as it involves loose shunting at Tinsley.
  16. Not as reasonably priced as the models on sale appear to be, but I am guessing there is a sting in the tail when it comes to import tax. And of course a likely lack of warranty and the fact that Dapol are making zero from it because someone has ripped them off. Yep easy to find them but zero interest in buying such goods.
  17. They were possibly waiting to see how aggressively Hornby went at the scale, which is possibly not as aggressive as Mr Kohler imagined. But if sales have been solid then the biggest confirmation of that will be another company taking a punt at a model which of course may also jog Hornby into upping it's delivery schedule knowing it's got competition. In N gauge we were in the doldrums with models like the V2 being 'the new standard' from Bachmann which looked exactly like the old one until Dapol released it's first models and it sparked a revolution in quality and quantity that only slowed when Dapol went off on it's O gauge journey. I forgot about the Deltic, that would go rather nice with available or soon to be available stock.
  18. Threw away or perhaps were rather forced to give away lest our friends across the pond should call in those loans they made to us in the war.
  19. Under that vegetable covering was some very tender lean braising steak and a 4 lean back bacon slices. It was yum though I say it myself, good old cooking learnt from my mum all those years ago.
  20. This was the tea I made this evening. For those interested dessert was some plain and simple strawberries (no sugar, cream or ice cream) and a banana. Bedtime now, night all.
  21. Some 16T wagons would be popular to go with the J50 or the 08 and with a 37 on the horizon something for it to haul as well. If Accurascale are going to offer anything TT it needs to compliment not further fragment what is currently on offer. The fear is duplication and with the Hornby 50 nearly arriving that's out, the 37 is on the cards too so that's out, Heljan's attempt at a 31 was thwarted so it rather restricts doesn't it. But some 16t wagons, mk2 coaches would not go amiss.
  22. Not very long though, mind you it would cost a lot to make all the decking safe along that side. Perhaps when Pomona island gets covered in buildings it might make sense to build an actual high level walking/cycling route from there into central Manchester using it. Certainly they need to find a solid use for that side of the viaduct before Metrolink make a claim to increase capacity as that part is a bit of a bottleneck.
  23. Possibly, but this is very much into the future, like I commented at the top Accurascale were talking about N gauge last year with a view for potentially something in 2024 and so far nothing. So TT might be a similar journey.
  24. Spoilsport! However, there is little to match with a class 92 currently. A 31 and some Mk1 Suburbans or some of the Mk2 coaches would be a stronger contender for an opening gambit.
  25. Thank goodness my tooth extraction that the private dentist couldn't perform has been picked up quickly by the NHS and I am booked in for the 16th April. Whilst it's not hurting, the remnant of the tooth doesn't taste nice and it's giving me smelly breath so out it needs to go.
