  7. Hmmmmm, Tried L19 and my customer ref no 9xxxxx not valid then tried L19 and service user number 9xxxxx still no joy. Is it because I subscribed quarterly by DD and the opening offer was five issues for £5?. The ticket website is not too good. So how do I get tickets?. Yours hopefully. G.
  8. Hello Everyone, I have subscribed but it will not start until March. Is there a way to get the DVD as I'm a fan of portchullin. Scottish Blue diesels DCC and sound I've seen the layout twice just needed a comfy chair and a cuppa I'd spend hours watching it. I've checked out flea bay but nothing yet. Is there a link to the content in the digital edition as in a previous issue there was a link to you tube and sprucing up the Chris Ford art of compromise layout which I did enjoy and inspired me to start building. Your hopefully brexit or not. G.

  10. I've seen the cab parts from Howes but no noses that I can see. I have a naked chassis in need of something to cover it up. Suggestions or what have you. Thanks, G.
  11. I has these made last year had a friend who knew CAD he drew up some Peco track. Had a company make them with setup fee minimum run etc it cost a packet. We used some on our club layout glue and pin down a length or part of across a board join solder your rail across and cut with a razor saw or something slightly thicker. Once painted it blends in well. Still a few left PM me.

  16. "I assume you do have the shoulder of the bushes inside the frames, it sounds like you do." I do, I checked just in case, I do - ?. I'm still concerned the axle muff only just fits between the shoulder of the bushes.
  17. Hello I think I remember someone talking about the society's 57xx chassis kit a while back. I have been building one and I'm at the wheel stage, when wheels and muffs are fitted there is no discernible side to side movement, is this correct. The muffs seem to be a snug fit between frames and bushes. Wheel back to back was set to 8.5mm with the gauge but it all seems to rigid. Saying that the wheels are free enough. Is this right wrong should there be side play?.. Thx, G.

  21. Ok,quick update on this - success. After advice given i searched for and purchased these. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-X-MBR0530-FAI-Diode-Schottky-rectifying-30V-0-5A-SOD123-MBR0530/112699767688?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I have just replaced two on my Hornby decoder with my iron a 1mm tip and solder paste. I fitted it to the donkey my test chassis checked out on the programming track, when it read back address 105 i was a happy man. Loco runs under dcc power doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects so far. Once i have carried out more testing with some extensive train playing i will be very happy. Crossland, you did ask how i did it well i had my own stay alive pack made up of 6 x 100uf surface mount caps but and yes i know it was wrong no resistor or diode setup it just went pop one cap is rather black so must have shorted. I've made it this far using normal large caps and no real issues apart from my rushing to the track without proper insulatation. So here we are i have done one i will try another that i have removed suspected faulty diode's from and we shall see but happy for the moment. I'm not going to put out a request just yet for duff Hornby decoders but one day maybe. Will update when i have done the next one. Thanks for the advice guys. TBC. G.
  22. Does anyone know what type or model diode is used on the Hornby R8249 decoder. I have some failures and need to replace them. Thanks, G.
