  1. absolutely incredible. I've followed this layout for a long time, but that video really brings home the quality for me. the on-board sequence, arriving into the station, has to be unparalleled. fantastic.
  2. a test, to make sure everything glued down properly?
  3. imho the ballasting looks really good. I'm sure you said this already, but what is it?
  4. that inspection saloon is terrific. really great shots, as usual. never get tired of your layout.
  5. I think the colours look a bit nuclear-armageddon-ish. never been to Dover but.......it can't be that bad!
  6. the handrails on some of these new models really do look good. shame about that random clump of foliage in the track though. why do modellers do that?
  7. really great stuff. the canal looks terrific and the shots you have look extremely realistic. I also like the close up showing that 'foliage'(?) stuff. (the stringy stuff you discovered). however, with all the trouble you've gone through to get the canal water looking so good, maybe Woodland Scenics could complement their 'Realistic Water' product with a new one: 'Realistic Canal Water'
  8. terrific layout and your stock is excellent too. could we have some more pics of that please?
  9. far too many model trains in these pics. try not to make it so crowded. oh......wait....
  10. very modellish, but also an excellent study in track weathering! looking at the real thing from above, like on a layout, is very instructive. much easier than trying to judge it from rail height.
  11. thanks for the video link. looks very good, although unfortunately some of the data given is inaccurate, specifically, the cost of the trees. I eagerly headed off to my nearest online scenics supplier in search of said trees, but they now cost 20 quid! not sure what has happened to the price of seafoam trees in the last two years, but clearly I am in the wrong business.
  12. will be interesting to see how far you can see down the canal from the end once it's dry. i.e. how clear it turns out, if you can see the shopping trolley. looks great and a brilliant layout. looking forward to the next video.
  13. can you sound-chip the gulls to make the requisite sounds?
  14. I like this "warts-and-all" modelling. don't think I've ever seen pigeon netting done before.
  15. are those two ever going to catch their train?
  16. you should put some of these photos in the 'realistic models' thread.
  17. these pics are great. I was just thinking that since you look over the layout from above, and we see it from platform height, we have a better view! I can tell you that from our angle it looks very realistic.
  18. very nice work. love the videos!
  19. I think that looks pretty good. Can't see from the pics anything particularly off about it, apart from the colour in comparison to the real life photos. surely, though, a little weathering, airbrushing? if it was the colour you didn't like then hopefully that won't be too hard to fix for the next time. tbh, if I didn't know I was supposed to be looking at the ballast in those pics then I probably wouldn't have even noticed it. I think ballast is bad when it's the first thing that hits you when you look at a photo (massively overscale, garish colours etc) otoh, your attention to detail is providing many great things and I'm sure redoing the ballasting (again) will be for the best when it's finished.
  20. love the signal box. wondering (and apologies if you've answered this before somewhere in this epic thread) when you will be doing the ballasting? I am quite looking forward to that, yes.
  21. hmmm...0.25% is not much, but..wait...of 40,000 photos..... = 100 pics!!!
  22. what is brown and sticky? -a stick! --------------- a skeleton walked into a bar and said, "get me a whiskey, and a mop!"
