  1. Update: The photos below show the area of "active rail" now I've sorted the polarity switching on 7 of the Cobalts.

It's been fun running a class 25 back and forth.

Will head to the far end of the yard (in the second photo) tomorrow - once these turnouts are sorted, the viaduct awaits!!

    Jeff

Well done Jeff, that's a lot of active track, you can line up all your steamers now for a procession across the viaduct in a week or so   :scratchhead:

  2. Oh I definitely agree! It'll take a fair while though - I'm working at the other end of the yard and moving through methodically.

Something to look forward to - motivation, perhaps?

    Jeff

I agree there Jeff a bit of motivation, I keep setting targets often daily, yesterdays target met, today's  unlikely, no problems but doing it right first time is taking longer than I realised, I really don't want to be reporting back that I am taking the track up again  :nono:

  3. Scott

Sounds like good progress on the backboards & structure that's keeping it all togeather, you say it will take your weight, thats a good thing because I have been climbing all over mine laying track, not ideal but it was the easiest way to tackle some of the track.

Will return soon to look at updates & hopefully some more photos  :declare:

  4. I've just sorted out the soldering for 7 Cobalts into the fiddle yard. With any luck I'll check the polarities of the switches/frogs in the morning.... then I might just force myself to run something out of the yard at that end. Now if I do the same at the viaduct end.... that 9F can cross the viaduct. Maybe in a week's time....

We need to see some steam coming over that viaduct  :stinker:

    Go for it

  5. Progress on the back corner buildings has continued although that's it for today as I have a million and one other things to do.

Right, off to the Supermarket :(

This is great work Jason, you're certainly setting a very high standard for us all to follow  :O

  6. Hi Billy it will be great to meat sorry MEET at Mansfield but the BAD NEWS is that I have Glen Roy there this year and a provisional for the BIG T next year.

You can still come and have a play with my hooter, that is a Class 25 horn by the way before I get BANNED,

Now talking of BANNED, wheres Jeff got to again.???

    Andy :sungum:

I know your  taking Glen Roy really, just having a senior moment, confused by your vast array of models / threads  :declare:

  7. Hey Andy....

This thread is almost at 40 pages - are you trying to produce a mini-me of KL?  :O

I notice the Lunesters have been here in their droves. There is no escape, as I well know. Even creating the Lounge only threw them off the scent for a few days!!

Keep posting the videos - that'll keep 'em occupied and give you the chance to flee from Derbyshire!!  :sungum:

And yes, Billy's idea is a good one. I may not have grass - yet - but I expect to see those puddles!!  :jester:

    Desperate-to-escape Lune...

    Jeff

He cant escape, even when he flees over the border to Mansfield with Trebudoc, I am planning to follow him there

I will report back on his lunacy  :sungum:

  8. Cheers Don, Duncan and George, I must admit, it is an improvement.

Now then young Billy :O  HANGING BASKETS, I only have one word to say to you young man,  and that is, COME AND DO IT YOURSELF THEN, :nono: :nono: :beee:

O.K. it was more than one word, but it is one step too far. hahhahaheeheheheee

    Andy.  :sungum:

Well I'm sure theirs room for them you can even get a figure of a man thats meant to be someone lighting the gas lights with a long pole that could be adapted to look like a watering pole, I'm sure it would be seen as innovative for your modelling era  :locomotive:

  9. Jeff;

Major change of plan needed for K/L.

I know you thought you had the contours sorted out, but I think this may change your mind.

You might need to extend the bunker slightly, but I've found you a new S&C viaduct to use:

Richard Johnson's 4mm Ribblehead, Naval Base, Western Australia

(BTW: no photoshopping has been done with the above image!)

    Cheers

    Scott

I'm not sure if that would fit in the UK

  10. I agree with you, there, Billyb.

Must admit, I've just watched it again...I keep noticing different things...at least, that's my excuse.

Love the length of the train...up here, I'm used to seeing 5-car Voyagers and 3-car DMUs.

In the 70s, I had to put up with a smelly diesel local service up to Paddington.  Came home via the underground, the bus and a pleasant walk through the 'cow field'!  [There were cows there in the 50s.  By the 70s, there were greedy horses who'd try and get at your bag for food given half a chance - too many people going to feed them.]

Yes the rake of carriages was certainly impressive, it was like watching royalty amongst all we commoners
