  1. Luck of the draw I guess ! Only got my 52xx Oct/Nov and 72xx in late Sept both pre-ordered from same establishment. Musta ticked someone off there ! Mind you was off out of the blocks on the new Bachy Dukedog !
  2. It's the DCC ready version (first) ordered through Hattons . A email of complaint to Margate telling them their production stinks methinx !
  3. Whilst I'd like to (in my fit of pique) but Hornby are the only game in town for R-T-R Star. Rock and a hard place ! Nearly bought one from Cheltenham Models before Xmas.....shoulda , woulda , coulda.....grrrrrr !
  4. Just had an email to tell me my preordered Knight of the Grand Cross (ordered Jan 2013) "is likely" to appear on or after 14th of June ! Hornby , you really are taking the P#ss now !!!!
  5. I look at how detailed most of the Star is and then look at those molded handrails and all I can say is ,WHY ?? Whoever thought that was a great idea should now be sat at home crying into their P45.
  6. Good luck on that front !
  7. Had a chance to get the model out for 1st inspection. Problem A. Left hand side cylinder rear cover and slide bars hanging out....no glue on it by the look of it. Problem B. Right hand side ejector support bracket behind the cab steps snapped. Hornby need a kick up the A**e ! As others have stated we've had to wait a heck of a long time for some pretty poor build quality. It just ain't cricket chaps !
  8. Well blow me down with a feather......A Star has arrived from the East. A ltd edition from Steam. I won't ever be able to sell it as "mint boxed" (not that I ever intend to part with it but thar not the point) though as it was double wrapped in bubble wrap and then wrapped in brown paper. This is clearly not sufficient as the box is squished and crumpled and a hole/tear in one corner. Having worked in a busy mail order model store in years gone by I find it incredulous that its not been sent in a sturdy cardboard outer box. I shall regrettably have to have a moan to Steam. Grrrrrrr
  9. Sat and read all fourteen pages.....Great "little" layout with some fine modelling . Keep up the excellent work !
  10. Twinkle twinkle little Star How I wonder where you are ? Cheap mouldings priced so high will I get it before I die ? Ordered back in early Jan Hattons promised when they can. New deliveries of Glastonbury and DCC But no sign of original Knight for me ! Complaints of damage in the mail Is mine being sent by snail ? Are you lost in the china sea whilst sailing your way onto me ? Twinkle twinkle little Star How I wonder where you are ?
  11. Good to have you back Mr Knobhead ! Missed your awesome builds !!!
  12. I pre-ordered a non DCC "Knight" That's whats frustrating. I'm getting used to being at the back of Hattons queue system. 72XX was slow and the 52XX I could have walked to China and got quicker ! I got impatient on the 72XX and impulse bought one from Antic's.....then got completely ripped on import duty , so won't be doing that again......patience is the key.... (doesn't stop me grumbling though) ! But hey ho...everything comes to those that wait...... Merry Christmas , Everyone !
  13. I'm still waiting for "Knight" (curse you Mr Hatton....I pre ordered almost on announcement ) and "Lode" (which the kids have kindly ordered for me as a Christmas present). Going to be bare under my tree methinx......
  14. Just in time for the sales....<cough>
  15. Still waiting for my non dcc Star....last as usual. Got me some new Castle bogies with correct spokes sat here waiting.....for those of you wanting them try Abbiegails.....in the sale they are !
  16. Two ? That's just greedy.....as usual I'm gonna be the last one on the planet to get mine.... pfft
  17. Why do I have the sketch from the Fast Show running through my head........? It were BRILLIANT ! Aren't Steam locomotive's BRILLIANT ? Isn't the box art BRILLIANT ? Sorry! I'll get me coat......
  18. We know that it's going to sell well....after all it's Hobson's choice if you want a R-T-R Star. Hornby know this ,so why go the extra mile, when "that'll do" suffices ? That is what disappoints the most. Grasping defeat from the jaws of victory or just a bean counter's hollow victory ? Isn't that attitude why British industry died a death in the late 70's ? Just a thought......
  19. Even in the gathering darkness....a chink of light appears <cough> I was thinking of purchasing the Steam ltd version but in view of the backwards manufacturing ethic of Hornby ,I'll just stick to my pre-ordered meat and two veg version which is more optimistically priced. This is the last Hornby pre-order from me......bring back the Grange standards please!
  20. Er back on topic.....Has anyone actually got the model in their filthy mitts ? It went out of stock at Kernow pretty quick , so someone must have bought 'em.....
  21. Positively bargainous now then.....
  22. According to an (E)mail shot from Modelfair this morning they have 31-086 "Early BR" Earl in stock......
  23. Just read through all twelve pages. Stunning work ! Keep it up !
  24. 'Tis not just "Brain food" more like the Elixir of Life !
  25. Just read the entire thread from start to finish......Excellent stuff with some useful tips and very inspiring. Best I get the kettle on first ......before I rush headlong in and glue summat wrong !
