  1. I keep having thoughts of a bunch of pikeys trying to prise one of those big rocks onto the back of a clapped out transit.
  2. Maybe a note on the layout description saying they are there for historical accuracy only and in no way convey any personal, or political sentiments.
  3. I would agree with this. This is a reproduction of a time and event in history and as such should be conveyed accurately. If it was AL making a "personal statement", then I would agree, no swastika. But as it is an accurate (and well researched) facsimile, then it should be shown "as is/as was", "warts and all".
  4. A friend of mine works for the environment agency. They use them a lot. Moving big blocks of concrete around is not easy when in the wilds on the edge of a worn out river bank. An empty cage is easily managed and the filling can be moved to location in small manageable loads. Brick at a time if need be.
  5. Maybe use a solid state relay. Should switch much faster than a mechanical one.
  6. Could you fit a capacitor to the decoder to provide power while the track polarity switches?
  7. Chose a preferential side for operating from and use high scenery (and no back scene) on the other side.
  8. If anyone is interested, the film is being shown on Channel 5 (UK) at 4.45 this evening.
  9. Thank you chaps. Looking at this photo, it does appear that the bridge sides are low enough to look over.
  10. Happy Christmas David. Many thanks for your continuing and informative reports. Much appreciated.
  11. Look like there are still plenty of bags of small rocks for filling gabions.
  12. I like how they are using gabians to cap the old wall. Should provide a tidy and reliable finish.
  13. Definitely progressing well. Should look good once those random rocks have been tidied away. Wonder if they will need to pick up all those small pieces of rock to prevent injury to people using the beach?
  14. A friend of mine has just got back from Dunkirk, he was ironically working on the ship moored next to the Saga Sky. He said that one yard believes a repair is possible. However the ship owners have indicated that scrapping her is more likely. She is a 20 year old vessel that was originally designed/built with a 25-30 year service life. Her age and possible loss of service for up to a year make this a quicker and probably cheaper option. It also removes any uncertainties about problems arising in the future.
  15. Big picture here. http://worldmaritimenews.com/archives/207355/maib-kicks-off-investigation-of-saga-sky-collision/ Wouldn't be surprised if that is enough to send her to the razor blade factory.
  16. Mine has arrived safely. Bloody hell, its heavy. I have brass locos that weight less.
  17. Looks like the new rock armour is doing its thing. Ship damage looks severe though. Probably bent frames as well as torn plating.
