  1. Excellent idea. Dont forget the "rapid response" bicycles. http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/sites/d/dean_hill_rnad/index71.shtml
  2. The Royal Navy is proud of its new fleet of Type 45 destroyers. Having initially named the first two ships HMS Daring and HMS Dauntless, the Naming Committee has, after intensive pressure from Brussels, renamed them HMS Cautious and HMS Prudence. The next five ships are to be named HMS Empathy, HMS Circumspect, HMS Nervous, HMS Timorous and HMS Apologist. Costing £850 million each, they meet the needs of the 21st century and comply with the very latest employment, equality, health & safety and human rights laws. The new user-friendly crow's nest comes equipped with wheelchair access. Live ammunition has been replaced with paint balls to reduce the risk of anyone getting hurt and to cut down on the number of compensation claims. Stress counsellors and lawyers will be on duty 24hrs a day and each ship will have its on-board industrial tribunal. The crew will be 50/50 men and women, and balanced in accordance with the latest Home Office directives on race, gender, sexuality and disability. Sailors will only have to work a maximum of 37hrs per week in line with Brussels Health & Safety rules, even in wartime. All the vessels will come equipped with a maternity ward and nursery, situated on the same deck as the Gay Disco. Tobacco will be banned throughout the ship, but cannabis will be allowed in the wardroom and messes. The Royal Navy is eager to shed its traditional reputation for; "Rum, and the lash"; so some years ago out went the occasional rum ration, replaced by sparkling water. Although remains, it has now been extended to include all ratings under 18. The lash will still be available but only on request. Condoms can be obtained from the Bosun in a variety of flavours, except Capstan Full Strength. Saluting officers has been abolished because it is deemed elitist and is to be replaced by the more informal, "Hello Sailor". All information on notices boards will be printed in 37 different languages and Braille. Crew members will now no longer be required to ask permission to grow beards or moustaches, including female crew. The MoD is working on a new "non-specific" flag because the White Ensign is considered to be offensive to minorities. The Union Flag had already been discarded. The newly re-named HMS Cautious is due to be commissioned soon in a ceremony conducted by Captain Hook from the Finsbury Park Mosque who will break a petrol bomb over the hull. She will gently slide into the water as the Royal Marines Band plays "In the Navy" by the Village People. Her first deployment will be to escort boat loads of illegal immigrants across the channel to ports on England 's south coast. The Prime Minister said, "While these ships reflect the very latest in modern thinking, they are also capable of being up-graded to comply with any new legislation coming out of Brussels ."
  3. "Thank you for your call. Yes I was badly injured and my car was written off. I haven't been able to work in ages." "Can you explain what happened"? "Well, I had just left the pub following the England match; and hadn't driven more than half a mile when this stone wall jumped out in front of the car" Click, Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  4. Apparently Sally B spends the winter months undergoing major engineering work ready for the summer flying season. Looked to be an epic turnout in Sheffield. Well done Tony and everyone else.
  5. Could the sub forms on the front page be listed in a vertical linear style. Like this (but in alphabetical order) - Having them as a string of words like this- Makes things harder to find.
  6. Just a "heads up" for the admins. You might need to look at the formatting of members signatures. There's a few that are showing up as very stretched/spaced out and are about 4 times the size of actual posts being made.
  7. There used to be a section listing watched threads on the forum home page. Will this be returning following the software update? This was a far more useful feature than status updates, as (without seeming to be rude), I am not that "worried", if someone I do not know is feeling "chuffed" or otherwise.
  8. Thanks, I must have missed that. Good to see Walthers taking it over and improving the DCC characteristics.
  9. Looks like Shinohara, but with different sleeper colour.
  10. Sheffield man's pride tending to plane crash memorial A man who regularly tends to a memorial honouring 10 airmen who died in a plane crash in a Sheffield park says he "loves them like my own son or daughter". Tony Foulds saw the American B-17 bomber crash in Endcliffe Park in 1944 when he was eight years old. Since a memorial was erected in the 1970s, Tony has regularly kept plants watered and the area clean to remember the men who died. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, the Sheffield man says the crew of the Flying Fortress steered away from him and his friends playing in the field before crashing into a wood. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-en...d-man-s-pride-tending-to-plane-crash-memorial Since this story aired, a local reporter Dan Walker has bought the story to a wider audience. It was Tony's wish that the 75th anniversary of the crash be commemorated with a flypast. The story has been gathering momentum and today Dan received a letter from the US Ambassador confirming that arrangements were underway with the US Air Force and RAF to ensure the 75th anniversary will be remembered with the recognition it deserves. https://twitter.com/mrdanwalker/status/1087657402940436480 https://twitter.com/BBCBreakfast/status/1087637700637798405 Well done Tony.
  11. For those that are considering building a "Micro", but dont have track already. I would recommend the Tomix track. The range is comparable with that from Kato (including inset tram track and small radii). What I prefer is that the track road bed is considerable smaller/shallower. I think this add a bit more realism to the track. Kato - Tomix - Fleischmann - Peco
  12. Not tried them personally, but recommended on another forum. Winsor & Newton pigment markers. https://www.cultpens.com/i/q/WN63039/winsor--newton-pigment-marker Colour chart http://www.winsornewton.com/uk/shop/graphic-markers/pigment-marker
  13. A roundy-roundy tail chaser with sidings in the middle. https://goo.gl/maps/kdwHzZPuF532
  14. Looks good. Will be interesting to see some reviews of it in operation.
  15. Having spent most of last year collecting N gauge rolling stock, locos and buildings, I now need to get rid of them. I have succumbed to the lure of a Bowser Alco C430 and have therefore decided to make the change to HO scale. The extra detail makes in more worthwhile for me, although space considerations mean any new layout will be compact in nature. I will therefore be depositing a lot of items on ebay. If however, anyone wants to see my ebay offerings before they all go live, please drop me a PM and I will copy you the details.
  16. Interesting loco. With the long solid frame, I would expect cornering ability to be compromised and rear overhang to be excessive.
  17. That size difference is probably correct. I found this photo of the real cars for comparison.
