  1. If you need any particular photos of the real thing, just give me a shout, I'll be working on it on Saturday (It has no cab or nose on at the moment, so body shots are a bit of a no no!

I know of a chap who has a full set of glass for a 22, got it from Swindon in 1985. I also know a chap with a power handle off one, and I own a Horn from one. Anybody got any metal bits we can attach these bits to? LOL

Heres an interesting thought...Did D6333 go straight from all over green with no yellow pannels or route boxes to blue with full yellows + boxes in one go? It was deffo still working in all over green without yellow pannels or route boxes in July 1966. Must have been quite a reliable machine as it seemed to have avoided Swindon in its early years.
  5. When the class 15 is finnished it will be a class 15/81/31/CIE A class hybrid! Most of its electrical machines have been lost/removed over the years
  6. Thanks! we try our hardest! At the moment it has no cab or No2 nose on, they are been shotblasted next week. I dont think the fuel side of the oil requirement will be an insumountable issue as diesel replacement is very easily made from vegatble oil. However lubricating oil will not be so easy. As it is buying 200 gallons of lube oil for a diesel engine makes a big dent in any preservation groups finances! Jim
  7. At the moment there is a steady stream of diesels from the 1st to 2nd generation era getting scrapped supplying parts to keep our preserved diesel fleets going, but whats going to happen when they have all gone? I suppose then the worst of the preserved locos are going to be canablized to supply parts, and with pikeys stealing parts whenever anybodies backs are turned only exacerbates the situation. I imagine in your 400 years time scenario, providing we are still civilized I think the serviving diesels will all be museum exibits. Kettles are far easier to keep running indefinitely with fairly rudimentary tools, diesels on the other hand are not.....
  8. Thanks for that. Very sad when you hear of somebody passing away, even if you never knew them.
  9. Was it a case of an American wanting American products? or that he genuinely thought they were inferior? Having traveled the world quite alot in my time, I find that people from most countries tend to be more patriotic than we are.
  10. I wonder what ever happened to Monty Wells? He did a few very well written articles in the RM mag and then suddenly disssapeared, which was a shame. his best was the April eddition one with model and history of the NBL "Taurus" loco. Probably one of the funniest april 1st spoofs I've ever read. Jim
