  1. Can someone explain to me why anything FGW has very prices nearly all of the time. Just amazes me how high the prices can be. I understand that they are sought after these days, but well out of my league in terms of affordability.
  2. Does KernowModelRail Centre accept other forms of payment like paypal at all?
  3. With this happening now to our railways of the sea damaging the tracks on the coasts of the UK. What would it be like when (in my opinion) the highly pointless HS2 route gets built, and the amount of neglect the current railways will get by the constant upgrading of the HS2 years after the completion of the route. I mean if HS2 is for people to get to places quicker, then why not they leave earlier or use a car to the places which rails can't reach. It is better to reconnect old communities of closed routes and rebuilding them in the UK than building HS2. These current railways are needed more than ever.
  4. I can't believe that it will be 60 years since the new Woodhead tunnel was opened this year. Who would have thought it
  5. A rail fan of the early 2000's

  6. That too. It amazes me of how some people can bid ludicrous prices for a Class 67 on places like eBay hoping to get a bargain. And I highly doubt the loco will ever see the light of day nor a piece of track whoever he or she might be who wins it. But who knows to be honest.
  7. Ouch, that is a lot just for a Limited Edition locomotive. Understandable with it being the Diamond jubilee version, but at that price, it is too ridiculous to be dragged in a bidding war that who knows how long or how much it will end up as. Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to buy a Lima or an old Hornby class 67, repaint it in those colours with custom decals, and just fit a lighting kit and detailing kit. I'm sure that would be a lot cheaper than 350 + pounds
  8. Who would want to pay just a bit under a £1000 for a railway book. I certainly wouldn't at that price. At most about £30, but no more. As the saying goes, shop around before you buy.
  9. Just by watching that video of the 68, the looks look a better than the mock ups no doubt. Personally I think it looks a lot better than when the Class 70 was released back in '09 in my opinion. Still once again interesting to see it in model form about 2014/15.
  10. Can somebody clear this up for me. Why are there too many high priced loco's, coaches, and wagons on eBay. I know that some loco's etc can be rare, but for an example a recent (past 5 years) Hornby HST pack in FGW purple over the £200 pound mark, i just find it quite absurd that it is more than twice the usual price found.
  11. In some way, the Class 68 looks quite similar (to me anyway) a mix between the Class 92 and the Class 67, especially since the Class 67 is also from Spain, but of an earlier design. Hopefully Dapol might release some prototype pics of the 68 in 00 gauge later this year or early 2014.
  12. When are the 68's hitting our rails? If anyone knows, if possible. I have seen pics of the prototype 68, and to me doesn't look something I would buy in model form, but still early days for that.
  13. Just a thing. I have always wondered whats the difference between the 81 and 85 in terms of wheel dimensions, overall body size of the 81 and 85 etc, etc. I do hope though, with the likes of the Bachmann 85, and Heljan's 76/77/86, that Hornby do update their 86's/87's/90's/91's +DVT/and 92's.
  14. Why at 150 quid? I mean I am sure you can convert a Hornby 28xx for less than that, surely. Kinda steep for a quite easy to obtain loco, and hard wire it for less, way less than what that seller is asking for. Outrageous at that price.
  15. I think the next AC from Bachmann would be the 84 to close the gap of RTR AC electric locos these days, especially after the 85's success. But who knows, only Bachmann does. The thing is, is that Hornby hasn't updated the 86 for some time, nor the 87 or 90 or the 91+DVT with bi-directional lights, windscreen wipers, etc etc. And that is why I can possibly see Bachmann for next year releasing another AC loco to the same standards as the 85 and 350. And talking about the 84, hopefully Bachmann would release in general production, the 84 in RTC (i think) livery of red/blue engineers colours.
  16. Much appreciated for your reply. Fingers crossed of released by then.
  17. Hi, does anyone know when Bachmann 31-679 AL5 No. E3095 being released by Bachmann. As I am interested of buying one hopefully at the Warley Show at the NEC this November. Much appreciated
  18. At that price you could buy and build a whole collection of loco's and rolling stock, plus buildings and accessories in a space (that will allow it of course) for about more than half of the price of a K's kit LMS ex MR 2f 0-6-0. And i doubt a K's kit loco would cost that much if still in production that is. And also you could also buy a brand new car as well as the huge collection of a Model railway layout too. Shocking, absolutely shocking
  19. Something has caught my eye in terms of madness on eBay. I never knew Hornby made a Class 466 train set before. Somehow it is unique at that price.
  20. Is it me or does the Hornby 4 wheel coaches on Ebay on a price rise. A bit pricey for small coaches
  21. Been looking through the posts here, and I am surprised that such things can happen just by running a loco around your layout just for this to happen. I mean I thought that a loco or locos can only get damaged if it runs off the rails, or gets dropped accidentally. Now I have always liked to own a 31 or a 50, but this might put me off because of such of happening, nor do I want this to happen if I do buy one. Any chance someone can explain of the affected models, much appreciated I am certainly shocked by the pics of this problem on here, shocked
  22. What the? Thats one expensive tanker. Dear me who would pay for that price. Disgraceful of Argos to sell something as a simple tanker wagon at 50 pounds more than the original price.
  23. What's that meant to be?. It looks more like a steam tram to me than a break van
  24. So why do a few sellers on eBay sell locomotives or anything Model railway based at ridiculous prices at that £100 starting bid and £160 to buy it now. as an example. And like you said its better to go to Hattons to get a Class 42 at that price and simply get a decoder at about between £10 to £20 then you save upto about 80 pounds. I say avoid anyone on eBay who sells a simple loco or anything model railway based if the price is OTT, which in this case is.
  25. Blimey that's cost a lot for a Class 42. You could probably get one that is DCC fitted for a about half the "Buy It Now" asking price. Whoever buys that must not be thinking straight.
