  1. shadow added to the weapon arms nd a touch of highlight rmweb4023drwhodaleks and the metallic finish picks up and reflects any light it can and Artizen's link for comparison http://www.doctorwho.tv/whats-new/article/conquer-earth-with-the-daleks-in-doctor-who-risk
  2. sorry I got carried away tamiya titanium gold x-31 for the top and middle band, Citadel warlock bronze for the main colour white and umbral o11 silver for the weapons, and black for the floor trim and heads of weapons rmweb4021drwhodaleks then some Citadel aggro earth shade for shadows along creases rmweb4022drwhodaleks and some of the titanium mixed into the bronze for highlights on the main body
  3. Knowing i was going for bronze and gold I started with a brown rmweb4019drwhodaleks while still wet i added some tame ochre for highlights, even tho i would be painting over this base colour rmweb4020drwhodaleks
  4. They look like 2005 Time War as they have bronze heads not black..... http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/dalek/types/ nice colours.....I wonder if i can copy it......
  5. the back same technique rmweb4017drwhodaleks unless it dries too pale by tomorrow this is the finished item rmweb4018drwhodaleks
  6. pure black would be a bit heavy, so I used Citadel shade nulling Nuln oil, which is good because it runs along creases easier, and even as you layer it to get darker colours, they overlap in places giving more shades which I need rmweb4015drwhodaleks and as soon as it is tacky I layer on more and just a touch of pure black under the arms and between the legs for deeper shadows, i touch it to the still tacky nulling stupid speller checker.....Nuln oil, to stop if being too black rmweb4016drwhodaleks
  7. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100609201900/tardis/images/e/ec/Cybermen_Silver_Nemesis.jpg I forgot to put up a picture of an unpainted version, but they are a match for the above link I have already painted this one Grey and the added some rather heavy white splashes rmweb4013drwhodaleks don't worry the features are good it a poor light, wet paint situation.... more white especially for the head and upper torso and start the silver rmweb4014drwhodaleks
  8. .....maggots.....now he didn't have those.....BUT I think I could model some...especially as they can be as big as a person......
  9. Decisions decisions...more Daleks?......or a Cyberman.......???
  10. the paint job is copied from a 1960s film version. and the base red was no where near shine enough....soon fixed THAT rmweb4011drwhodaleks then a touch of Citadel flash gitz yellow and citadel auric armour gold, and a few layers to get it decent rmweb4012drwhodaleks the guns etc are white with umbral 11 an a acrylic silver, and citadel ice blue for behind the 'eye' The toilet plunger is actually white on this model...but I changed it to black to make it more distinct, as it is on other Daleks. When it is all dry a touch up might be necessary, at the moment far to wet to mess.......
  11. to your left the pristine model....to the right the not so pristine.... rmweb4009drwhodaleks I am very take with Chris Ns use of grey as a base colour....much easier to see the detailing than black which is recommended by Citadel. rmweb4010drwhodaleks
  12. My brother is going to check the box and let me know. I got the Daleks he has the box.....seems a good division to me...... 2nd in Command as per the 1960s already painted.......pictures to follow....
  13. No...but the emoticons are less in number....they got rid of the pesky indecipherable........oooh that is going to scotch someone LOL......
  14. My Dad has been with my brother for a week, and today my brother bought him home, I dare say most of you are thinking so what.....BUT my bother told me that he did not JUST have Zoo animals, and people and the other odds and ends from the 1960s. ........... Oooooooooh No. This man was a serious Dr Who fan, and guess who has just been given a little box of Daleks....8 Daleks at 1:72 He has already put them together, they are other wise untouched....there is one that has his 'eye' broken . BUT I have a blue police box / TARDIS, and I now have 8 lovely little Daleks, and I will be making other characters from the series........You can fight out which era....I know my favourite......but others are high on the list.... AND....there is icing on the cake.......ooooooh yes.......10...... not 8....... but 10 Cybermen!!!!!!!!!! They are bigger than the Daleks when they should b similar to the normal figures.....but a little perspective and we'll get there........ But Dr Who oo Dr Who.......Dr Who oo Dr Who........ Must go.....I need to do a little painting......
  15. You don't have to panic to do stuff quickly, or produce it for this thread either, it takes the shine off of the enjoyment. I like to be in the right frame of mind to enjoy what I'm doing. As long as you have the stuff ready laid out (which I hope you can do) then you can pull it out when your ready. I have taken so long over one building that I 'gave it' an old computer desk on wheels no longer wanted by any of the family, and it rolls out from under a modelling table. Everything thee for when I have the mindset. I also have more than one job on the go, just little things like a figure etc, to do if I just want to feel I can complete something rather than be frustrated by not finishing something. It is one of the reasons AV jumps about so much. BUT when I do something it is because I am enjoying it. Don't get depressed over real life taking up your time. You'll get there. And you should look forward to having a bit of time to enjoy the experience. And if something goes wrong feel free to share it, I have had many a friend help me out of a hole when something did not go as smoothly as I wished.
  16. Your never gonna be able to hid(e) all that behind the bathroom door....
  17. Well if they are Welsh getting a good tenor should be easy. Chris N regards the 3 men, I too think the one on the left looks to be the lower order, the one in the middle definitely a boss, and the one to the right give the impression of a skilled worker. Side whiskers would look great.....a big bushy ginger beard with sideburns and some transparent brown low lights.......
  18. I'll need some 9mm gauge track, and I understand it is still 4mm just narrow gauge. And there will be no engine......so it will just be static for the looks. Is there anything else I am missing?????
  19. That makes the coaches pretty affordable ..... Does anyone know if it is better to source direct from Parkside or is there a cheaper pace to buy them from? I can search...but it is still easy to miss a bargain.
  20. You might have benefited from Tamiya masking tape put on BEFORE the pen, then rip the tamiya tape off afterwards. In response to Hal I often have to paint and repaint some things several times until the paint is in the proper spot.(YOU MUST let it dry first or you end up with an awful mess!!!) Tamiya masking tape have straight edges and nice tackiness should work well....even ordinary cheap masking tapes improve the situation. We are supposed to go visit David, we have cried off twice, one time just a bout everything was finalised, then Kal had to travel for his work instead. In the event it is still troubling him...I will have a go. The smallest you can get I just use the refills and cut the tape....this wide are too expensive, the thinnest ones are usually good enough, but whichever is cheapest per metre works well in this situation. http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/tamiya-6mm-masking-tape--refill/580565-1000
  21. Morrisons sell it....and it is NOT expensive there, PLUS in our supermarket they have those new cooled jets running over it......yummy...
  22. Oh yes very interesting pic_DM22.jpg do you have to buy the bogie....wheel base separately?
  23. Oh!!!! I like that NOT a sit on.And brightly coloured. Just my kind of thing
  24. But.....with the talk of the safari.....and seeing those lovely African buildings.....I suppose I can reveal what I got with the Airfix models.....and how they could be used as a landscape for the safari......and it follows with my last post...as my mum was truly fainted by the Pharaohs, we have loads of her books on the subject.....and for the school she worked for she did a project about how to write in Hieroglyphs....well my brother was obviously influenced I have a little pack of Egyptian related items including a sarcophagus, and a couple of lion statues rearing, and they could be placed near a mock up of a ruin.....and if I can source the little devils those red bummed creature someone pointed out I would have so much fun painting......or in deed any troop of monkeys / apes.....I have not even looked yet, but hope they are a bout.....otherwise......it won't be just dogs I model....... PLUS the little ones could clamber over the train even with passengers around, as I remember that happening in one of my childhood visits......not with the train mind.....but passing through an area where there were monkeys, the only thing is I don't remember is if it was here in the UK or one of my school trips to Europe. I just remember that we had been allowed to buy peanuts (at an exorbitant price) and we allowed to give them to the small monkeys. If anyone remembers the same I would truly love to place that memory. Knowing my mum's other love for stately homes and their rooms inside and their gardens outside it could be just a bout anywhere here in the UK. Anyway I thought some Egyptian ruins.....some monkeys........Yep no one would say AV was your typical railway layout.........PLUS it could align itself to the filming area, because the theme parks nowadays do all sorts........even Harry Potter just wish I had an accurate loco for that one. And yes I have contemplated actually making it.
