  1. Elizabeth Arden dear......;p https://duckduckgo.com/?q=elizabeth+arden+make+up&iax=1&ia=images&iai=http%3A%2F%2Fyouqueen.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2012%2F09%2FElizabeth-Arden-Makeup.jpg LOL
  2. It would be cool to see some people in sections covering the same station or line but different eras or aspects. I am sure there are many case here on RMweb. Certainly people with similar interests have flocked together and shared information. I often think that Chris Ns work would be wonderful if borrowed by someone wanting to do a different era. It would also allow people with less time, less money to see their work in different arenas. I wonder if any exhibitors have ever considered doing this, showing other peoples work on their layout for this express purpose. Although 'lenders' would have to understand exhibitors suffer terribly from 'light fingerless' Bits being knocked or lifted. Still the idea is interesting. A long exhibition layout could even move on along eras by itself.
  3. absolutely superb shot with the last picture with the KFC. On the back of the road signals there are usually hanging brackets ...very easy for you to imitate so the signs are not floating. and that's the ONLY thing I can find to criticise...... Vey well observed. Loving it........ooh no that's a Burger place....hehehehe...... and I have noticed several ways there are hung.....so two small strips will make it perfect.Great work.....keep it coming.
  4. You can get 'modelling' paints that imitate the lead in stained glass windows. I wonder if you could add it with a lining pen (perhaps seeing if you need to thin the consistency) onto plastic sheet at the core angle then later cut it into the required squares...... oh LOL, know what I mean, and it seems daunting to me......hat..coat....gone.....
  5. nice reference for a dirty skip....... the viaduct reminds me of the 'Shakespeare work' on display after his passing.
  6. We won't get there, but I hope you have a brilliant day, you deserve it. If only for the entertainment you have given us sharing your experiences.
  7. camping coaches..... 1622 again...a bit too clean......I can't bring myself to paint them....but will probably use some powders on them eventually..... 1625
  8. I tend to find, I 'fall over' modelling items ....which take my fancy....I buy 'em......then attempt to tweak the layout to accommodate them......keeping a small sheet of PIR foam approximately 1ft x 3ft to photograph and test ideas.......andslowly they find a full time home on the layout. Admittedly our layout is large making this easier. BUT I do believe that the original beach idea had a lot of merit, and sourcing oe of those items, and making them up, will help you to visualise the finished product. The idea being don't set anything in stone...way and lean as the wind gently sways you around, many items work anywhere......it just take your mind to find an excuse for them....... The present safari idea is all because i wanted a reindeer for the Xmas scene. My brother said......oooh i think I have one......well there was no reindeer......but I AM having fun.....and I think you are meant to enjoy the journey.........
  9. people have also spotted that the same trains appear to be in the same place a lot of the time, this tends to be because Kal programs them from station to station, and they have a route which starts and stop in a specific spot. 03870387 this area was also trashed, well removed and stored......the bridge did not survive well being dismantled 0276 Goathland is stil in the distance the wagons continue almost into the station 0375
  10. I have only one complaint over the compilation of pictures. I would have liked to ask question regards different pictures. e.g.for instance i would like to state that I am in thrall over that gorgeous mill in the back ground with the wonderful abbey displayed to its left. The perspective you have achieved is marvellous........green with envy........wonderful modelling.... .....so wish it was in this country so that i could con my way into coming and having a look at it close up. That mill was worth every single window that drove you bonkers.......
  11. it is from the Hornby Goathland / NYMR set.
  12. The emphasis of the picture is rarely about the trains, this one was about the B.R.U.T.E.S. sent to me by David before we had ever met him in real life....and once i realised how fiddly they were...knew he was probably glad to see the back of them...LOL.....the word brute being very accurate..... 0433 I added the curtains using tissue paper. 0388 again none of this rolling stock had received any weathering. It an much of the resin kit was removed from the packet and popped on the layout.
  13. Not that we are good at driving the trains.....on occasions there are all sorts of mishaps...... 0453 NB that old tunnel mouth is one of the reasons this area got Killed Kal never could look at it without wincing. rolling stock...... 0445 a lot of this has been reused or reworked, the bridge for instance, is the same item I made up ages ago..... although in this picture the sides were just sat on a piece of corktile...which explains the strange shadows.... 0444 looking at these the resin building look like a photographed background....LOL
  14. I was showing a part of AV that was ripped out to make way for the new Heartbeat area made from PIR. It was more about the fact 'people' having been asking me to show them trains.......as they are a rare sight on AV .....so I am attempting to give them trains in spades.......
  15. A long view....there's a train in thee somewhere...... 1577 nope its gone....this one arrived while I was looking...... 0874 they are coming through at a prodigious rate.......the signal man must be sweating!!!! 0454
  16. My family in Wales is extensive, and I know a second cousin hit the 6'6" or did before cancer got him, and his dad a randy old goat was a great uncle of mine who hit the 5'0" nothing - he was a ringer for Cagney.....and was known locally as the Rhondda Ram. I do wonder if his wife was so complacent over his wonderings because the milkman (or A N Other) was rather tall..........
  17. I'm sure me cat Lucky was stood next to me a moment ago............
  18. It must be low tide at the moment...because the corgi seems fine.......or is it a grey hound!!!!?????
  19. it's a ford....and he just went through it...... We used to have one near where i lived as a child and the difference below 'low tide' and 'high tide' could mean the difference between your engine getting swamped!!!!! The road sign used to say WARNING FORD AHEAD.....but no rain and you could walk through it, lots of rain and you could wade up to your thighs!!!!!!!!! I think it was a local joke, and VERY profitable for the local mechanic and tow man, and a source of vast amusement to the locals who knew better........
  20. another little diesel 0962 and just a little further to cross the river 0748 I love making the picture out of focus, but giving the impression it is in focus, because your mind adds the finer detail.......
  21. That's NOT a job you want to do too often.....are you going to attack the blue strip at the same time....so as to not undo the work at a later date?
  22. Hal i'll look into it, but for those that are NOT steamers...... D6717 BR Green 1359 and the same from a different angle. All the background is old AV, and has all been updated. The wood exist, but is in storage. All removed when we went PIR.
  23. As we are having a good laugh on AV....I thought i should extend it over here..... This picture, the man above the charring tons lorry, reminds me....I have a load of pictures taken over the years by family......some which are incredibly funny in them selves or some which have a funny story attached to them. They are not very 'railway' but they could be added to the layout as amusing anecdotes. And many reference particularly to my father who is in a number of the madcap pictures. My family has a lot of mining town connections dating back to the early 1900s, and a load of pictures. Hopefully someone somewhere has a picture of that man standing up there and can say......ah yes........there's a funny story attached to that one......... And....my dad says he has a picture of my first car there somewhere, the one I bought and repainted recently to the colour I remember. Inspiration comes rom so many sources, and often only the modeller as any idea of all the little sources that make them smile. I am sure you have plenty of those too, private jokes that hardly seem worthwhile airing but make YOU smile none the less.
