  1. Very much enjoying following this, thank you both. Looking forward to seeing the next phase and definitely the arrival of a 442! Keep up the good work. Rich
  2. Just unwrapped and dcc'd Sarah Siddons. Two questions occur for anyone who knows more about this sort of thing than me (probably everyone!): 1. Should it have tail lights? It doesn't seem to. 2. On the end of the pcb nearest the pins, there are two red wires that seem to just end in mid air! There doesn't seem to be anything that they should have connected to, and it seems to work fine, but seems a bit odd to fit the white plugs with wires that go nowhere- especially when so tightly fitted to a metal chassis. Is this normal? Thanks for any ideas. Rich PS both nameplates visibly wonky, but pics of other Sarah's I've seen seem to be the same so maybe it's just a thing (I know the real ones are straight!)
  3. Really enjoyed seeing this at Warley today, thank you. And of course we'll done with all the new editions. As an indication of quality it was the only thing that made my 5 year old nephew stand still for more than 30 seconds all day. I thought we were going to have to take the barrier with us to shift him! Rich
  4. Hello. Really enjoying following this. I wish I had the sense to start something this size. We move house and my wife gave me the garage. So I started trying to fill it! Re the point motors, I found out quite a bit for mine from this thread http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/84599-dummy-point-motor-placement/?p=1416226 Looking forward to more. Rich
  5. Looks fantastic Ian. Really must get on with mine! Rich
  6. Looking very nice already sir. This is my next project too, but am building the centre car with Replica parts. May I ask if you've found any suitable transfers for the hand painted bits on the cab front? Good luck with it! Rich
  7. Well it's not that much more than the MJT sides and cast ends and detailing bits and Southern Pride underframe equipment and Markits wheels and Replica Mk1 bodies and bogies and Phoenix paint that I bought.... .. about 6 months ago........ to do one of these...... (b***er)
  8. DEMU Showcase was excellent.

    1. Crisis Rail
    2. Tim Dubya

      UMED(s) are even better...

  9. DEMU Showcase was excellent.

  10. DEMU Showcase was excellent!

  11. DEMU Showcase was excellent!

  12. It has been done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDDSB8r-Y7Q Have seen it live, stunning. Built from scratch. I would agree gates too though in this case. I can't even see half the details on these let alone figure out how to reproduce it! Rich
  13. Oxford Rail have just announced a carflat. http://www.oxfordrail.com/76/OR76CAR.htm Rich
  14. Never say never. I hear there's also an East Croydon. Rich
  15. Picked up RM at Paddington for trip home today - excellent article, well done. Rich
  16. Assuming they're the same as the OO equivalent they're made out of some sort of resin. They are cast in the three bits you see in the picture. They paint well and can be cut shorter with a small saw (be careful of the dust). I'm sure I've seen someone on here manage to bend them quite effectively by immersing them in hot water and then forming them gently around something. Hope this helps. Platform looks brilliant! Rich
  17. Hi Jessie. I'm really enjoying reading this, and I'll echo what others have said - the detailing is superb. I doubt I could even put an N gauge model on the track! Keep up the good work - looking forward to seeing more. Rich
  18. I still teach this for A Level Geography! (But you're right!) Looking great as ever Pete. Rich
  19. This is looking fantastic as ever Pete. I really need to increase the frequency of looking at RM Web to match your rate of progress - you were on 8 pages last I looked! Have had a very pleasant morning catching up while on holiday in a railway carriage next to the line - couldn't be better really! Keep up the good work. Rich PS late I know, but I would put third rail in that top platform!
  20. Hi Rich, Enjoying reading this already - particularly impressed with the quality of the build. Looking forward to seeing more. Another Rich
  21. Hi Kelly. This looks really interesting already. Good luck - looking forward to seeing how it comes along. Rich
  22. It will be making (so far its only) appearance this year at the EBMRS show in Biggleswade later this month (http://www.ebmrs.org.uk/show.htm) so hopefully some more pictures then. Has only just dawned on me how long it will take to get there from home - good sign for a Geography teacher! At the moment it is packed in its travelling boxes underneath the home layout while I've been working on that (not that there's much time with a five month old baby!!). Rich
  23. I've got a DCC Concepts Zen 218 with stay-alive in both of mine. Considerable improvement in performance over the Hattons own decoder one of them came with. I will probably end up following Temaraire's excellent suggestion for pickup modifications though as both are hesitant through pointwork. Rich
  24. So does anyone know where we can get brown nameplates or how to paint the black ones then? Rich
