  1. Needed to make a pilot for the front of the rail bus chassis, it's surprising what a platform bench can provide.
  2. The rail-bus chassis is almost complete and is very free running. Using the powered van has allowed for almost all the detail on the bus chassis to stay in place with only a little bit of modification. The photo shows the van having propelled the bus the length of the layout. I did video it but for some reason it wouldn't upload. I'll try again once the second chassis is completed.
  3. Being as I do not intend to use the coach I thought about building a rail-bus. I manged to acquire 2 Rio Fiat Buses at a silly low price £10.00 for the two. The power unit will be a Tenshodo motor bogie inside a luggage van between both buses. I have just lashed up a modified chassis for one of them and the none-weighted motor bogie pulls and pushes it with ease. Photo just to show how it might look.
  4. Thought I'd have a play day and give down-pipes, guttering, chimney flashing etc a break.

  6. Hookton update: Guttering and down-pipe brackets now arrived from ModelU, paint and Evergreen plastic and Wills granite sets due on Monday, so no excuses not to crack on. In the meantime here are a few happy snaps showing some progress.

  8. Hi Andy, The tiles/slates are from yorkmodelrail.com 2 sheets and are peel and stick. The walls are plaster castings from Invertrain. cheers Mike
  9. OH ******, ran out of tiles so just placed an order and whilst I was at it, down-pipe fittings and guttering. Now that the position of the buildings are finally sorted I can get the ground work sorted and fix and finish each of them. Here are a few photos.

  11. Started work on the last cottage and finished the grave yard. Pictures to follow probably Monday.
  12. Almost, but not quite sorted the placements, still more to do before I can start the groundwork then it's on to the harbour and the trawler.
  13. Finalizing the positions of the buildings (still need at least one more) in Hookton. and the Lipp Vale
  14. Buildings placement almost finalized just need to add a couple more after the one I started Saturday morning using my favourite material 2mm Liteply and got it to the state shown after a couple of hours.
  15. Bodging the village buildings all need finishing but just getting the placemnts before finishing the landscaping.

  17. Just a bit more work on the location of Hooktons buildings. Nothing set in stone (excuse the pun) the cottage with the blue doors still under construction has been clad with sandpaper to create a textured surface. I hope that with some suitable washes it will look Okay.
  18. Getting on with some of the buildings to form the lefthand side of Hookton although they are just bare shells as yet.
  19. Had my Scan results on Tuesday, I have a couple of heart valves with slight leaks Aortic and Mitral. Now just need to see what they might not or might do just need to be patient. In the mean time I have done or perhaps that should read started Hookton Post Office and General Stores see top right of photo.
  20. Thanks to all for the best wishes. It was an interesting morning. Now need to wait for the results which if it is anything like last time might be several weeks. Just have to accept that the NHS is under extreme pressure due to Covid and that I'm lucky that they have found time for me. A big thumbs up from me to all the NHS. The only problem of the proceedure was having had my left arm held in a fixed position for over 40 minutes when I needed to turn onto my back my arm was dead and I needed help to move it until the blood started to flow and the pain became bearable. Sign of old age.
  21. Just made a start on the the jurassic coast rock face with still loads to do but it helps in forming the scene. Heart scan tomorrow so fingers crossed I can get on and do some more modelling as the rockwork has taken 13 days so far - slowly slowly.

  23. Monday morning thoughts posted on a Wednesday. Wow! me thinking, now that's a first.: I cannot claim to be a railway modeller as I do not really model railways. I have scratch-built locomotives, made my own trackwork, built baseboards and scratch- built structures all of which are just part of a process. I start with a place, a period in history, a community. I follow the seven W’s system. What, where, when, which, who, why and not forgetting how. The W is at the end of how. So, the railway is coincidental as it arrived last and is Just a part of the whole.
