The first coat of paint but getting the flint look is a bit tricky I think the idea I am going to go with is to stipple paint on.

A test piece to see how laser cut knapped flint and brick looked, I may experiment to see how best to paint it but each flint is .75mm

Unfortunately We have had to cancel Railex 2022, as previously mentioned although our normal date in late May was unavailable we were offered another date in June which we then booked, only to be told by the stadium yesterday that the new date had been double booked. To say we are frustrated is a bit of an understatement. Many of of our stadium team who we have worked with since 2005 have in the last year moved on, as in the past had a rolling contract for our usual weekend. We have now booked the stadium for Railex 2023 and hope to see you there 27 & 28 May. David

I have just picked up on this thread, fantastic work. Just one thing I have picked up on is that the GWR type 5 signal boxes were generally built entirly in blue brick rather than red brick on your model. I had a look at colour photos of Tavistock and yes the box is in blue brick. David

After two years of not having a physical show, we are planning Railex 2022. As someone who has had three jabs and pretty fit running most days I got struck with Covid last Wednesday and for the last four days have been completly knocked me out and even moving from the bedroom to the bathroom has been an effort. Hopefully I am on the mend now but the last few days have not been good. I was in the camp that expected if I got it because of the jabs and my fitness it would be very mild symptoms how wrong I was. Some more images in black & white, I have added some fences and walls, I have tried to work out from maps and old photographs to see what they looked like and where they went.

There is an animation section on Fusion so I may give it a go.

Nearly there just a few more details to add, I have even popped the correct Flint cottage image in the background, and too give it a period look have given it a black and white filter. I feel its quite an attractive station and one of those lost GWR terminus stations, although to be correct it was only a Wycombe railway station although it was run by the GWR from the start.

I think there was one the prototype that had doors made up of 3 full width planks and this was copied by Lima the remaining ones seemed to have doors made up of a half plank two full planks and one half plank.

I need to check but I think the planking on the doors looks wrong it should have a half plank at the hinge end.

Have you tried Michael Clarks Masokits system where the chairs are formed from a etch and use copperclad sleepers. David

A more work it is amazing what you can do in Fusion 360 this is the free version, even importing colours such as GWR stone paint. The great thing about designing in 3D is that it makes it much easier to see how parts fit together.

IKB did visit as there are letters by him as he surveyed the line, but I doubt an Iron Duke got there, I think mostly it was 4-4-0 bogie class or the Sun class.

It was a terminus from 1854 till 1862 when the line was extended to Thame in 1862 the line bypassed the old station so for two years until a replacement station was built all trains had to reverse in and out of the station. The first map shows the proposed extension to Thame and the second an extract from the 1:500 1875 when that shows the old station as a goods shed and a replacement station on the site of the current station.

A bit more work on the 3D model I have now got all the flint panels in and am now starting work on other details like downpipes and gutters. Once I am happy with the finished model I will start to create the DXF files to export to the laser cutter. David

I wonder how traditional platforms are constructed. I guess the walls are constructed of brick stone but what supports the top surface is the level built up with earth to support slabs etc. David

Some more progress on the 3D model, plus some photos of the building as is is now or before restoration started. Its quite hard in some cases to figure out exactly how it looked like 167 years ago when first built. It was only a station for 10 years before being replaced by a new station and then used as good shed. The design was repeated at Thame ten years later in 1862.

After years if not decades of waiting and plenty of false starts model the original High Wycombe broad gauge station in 1854-62 I have now made progress in drawing the model up in Fusion 360 this will then be used to produce drawing for the laser cutter to produce parts. A couple of days and I have got the attached done plenty more do but at least its looking like it should, I hope to get as much detail in as posible and all brick and flintwork work will be correct as well as all the trusses. I was wondering what station had the shortest working life, I was thinking one which had station buildings and was not a temporary one plus had to have been included in a timetable.

Yes the autocoach was used to serve the low level platforms, a number of times the steps were left out and were damaged when they hit the normal platform at Risborough a chair was kept on board just in case this happened so passengers could still alight.
