I've been working online today, well, as much as my interwebby thingy has allowed, keeping dropping out every fifteen minutes or so.
I'm starting to think of a new game. It's called composer chess.
Starts with Dvorak, who was Czech, and there there his friend Brahms who was obviously his Czech-mate.
I'll get me coat.You’d better!

I also use the couple of minutes around 8pm as a time of reflection and of thought for what the future holds.

I’m am community pharmacist and was originally told no need to wear masks, then later told to wear masks and was sent enough to last a couple of days. When they ran out we were in breach of Health and Safety at work Regulations but we were told this is the type of sacrifice that you need to make.
Since then we made our own and sourced some ourselves at 10 times the market value. Things have eased a little on the PPE front but it’s been through our own endeavours.
Things do move fast.

I started banging my bucket at 8pm and soon realised I was the only person making a noise when I stopped for a breather. I shouted down the road ‘shame on you’ and slowly the clapping got louder. It’s alright but I think I’m the only frontline NHS worker on the street.
Ah well
Out again with my bucket, again only me out, so this time I walked down my street banging away. Few came out to clap. Actually many have scared some of them off as I was in my dressing gown and looking a bit like Arthur Dent! (I’ve had a bad day at work and had just had a bath.) What is the matter with some people, some are knowingly putting themselves in danger (lack of PPE) to help others and some can’t even come out to clap for a couple of minutes once a week. Shame on them.

Just read on BBC that Kim Jung Un may be ‘seriously ill’ or ‘BRAIN DEAD’. I wonder how long he’s been is this state and I wonder if it effects any other world leaders?

The day to day numbers are based on deaths in Hospital. The ONS do provide the total number of deaths per day. BUT this depends on the outcomes of post mortems so there is a lag in the figures.
Ozexpatriate.. it would appear that while their are a number of people who have died in Care Homes the numbers are not as high as you seem to surmise they are.
Baz
According to BBC website Public Health England say 9 out 10 deaths due to Covid-19 have occurred in hospital. So approximately 1500 deaths have occurred in the community.

Evening All,
steady day at work. Went into town at lunchtime and came home with current edition of RM. Back been killing me all day. Usually it’s bad for first hour then eases up but not today. Having an early night as I think sleep will be at a premium tonight.

I was listening to the radio over the weekend and I heard an expert say that it may not be possible to produce a vaccine. No vaccine has yet been developed against the HIV virus. I think he/she said they have never produced a vaccine against a Corona virus yet. I hope I’m (they’re) wrong. Anyway off to work.

Tony,
Sorry for delay in getting back to you but I understand that want you would want out of a layout would be quite strain. I know a small engine shed layout or branch line doesn’t float your boat. At least you do have a ‘presence’ on the exhibition circuit with your demonstrations and guest appearances on other people’s layouts. you’ve also got plenty of kits still to make and your other interests.
Anyway, I’ve managed to finish these four Parkside BR hopper wagons today, the only modelling I’ve done under lockdown.

Lightening the mood a little. Here is a photo comparing an Oxford die cast oo Ford Anglia with an ‘HO scale slot car’ equivalent. It’s works out at 1/60 scale. And for those of you who don’t know the order of the winning Ford in the 66 LeMans race here’s a clue.

I had a very large Minic Motorways set up with a five lane figure of eight track. Although they were supposed to be OO, in fact they were much larger being nearer to 7mm scale.
HO slot cars are now actually 1/64 scale! Originally they supposed to the 1/87 to match model railways like Triang Minic was with Triang railways.

It is better in real life. I believe the track was hand made in the USA and the boys from Derby were going to take it to LeMans for the race weekend. Sorry to be a pain but the clip called HO Le Mans 2014 gives a better impression of the event.
thanks again,
Robert

Ian,
on the BBC website I saw a picture of a group of guys complaining about the lockdown. Some had ‘big guns’ (semi automatic rifles?) in their hands. What’s all that about? Who are they going to shoot? The virus?
Frightening really, well at least to me in the UK.Keep safe from the virus and the gun toting nutters.
Robert.

People seem to be live streaming home based events now. Perhaps you could have a 24 hour slot car race on Zoom (other platforms are etc...)
Tony
Derby HO Racing Car club have a LeMan event every year. It’s a24hour event on a custom built circuit. It fills a complete sports hall. It’s an absolute fantastic site. I’m no good with hyperlinks etc but if you look on YouTube under DHORC LeMans you’ll see what I mean.

Thanks for the reminder. Don’t know how many I’ve got, but quite a few. I think I’ll check whether I’ve missed any. I’ve got an Amazon voucher that someone got for my birthday. I don’t like buying from them, but as I have a voucher I’d better use it. I hope they will be paying a decent corporation tax bill this year with all the sales they are getting at the moment.

Evening All,
Not a great fan of spicesy food despite studying at Bradford University. There seemed to be a curry house at each street corner near the university. Fish and chips for me any day!
Steady at work but received a box of face masks which we ordered from one of our pharmaceutical wholesalers and ten days ago. Six quid for fifty whereas paid £60 for same quantity (and quality) last week from a different source. Someone taking the p!ss and ripping people off. I don’t know how people can be so greedy during this international crisis. I suppose they have no scruples.
Managed to get bit of modelling done but realised that I’ve misplaced some of the parts. Dratt and double dratt.goodnight,
Robert

Evening,
Decided to give myself the afternoon off from the pharmacy as the staff are coping ok. I’ve been going more as a gesture of support for the last few days but my own pharmacy paperwork does need my attention. So got home, had a sandwich, mowed the lawn and did a couple of hours with the books. After tea had an hour in the shed.
We try to get prescriptions ready for people for when they call but some customers are coming for their prescription before the doctor has even sent it. We have been given permission to open late and close early but so far haven’t done so but know a lot of pharmacies have.
After this Covid 19 situation is over I think there will repercussions and recriminations but I don’t think this is the forum for those discussions. I look forward to it’s eradication but not all the agro that will follow.
Goodnight,Robert
