Morning All,
Early riser today. Already at the hoapital in Sheffield for my delayed annual check up. May be some interesting results today. The test has taken a year to complete but I’m not sure if the tests will reveal anything.

After about a mile into our walk our path leaves the railway. At this point we are not far from site the former West Silkstone Junction where the Worsborough incline joins the Barnsley to Penistone line. There are end to end bridges over each of the lines. The picture shows a Sheffield to Huddersfield DMU on its way to Penistone and just out of sight on the left is the top of Worsbrough bank and just ahead is the site of the former junction.

Its looks quite boggy down in bottom of the cutting. The path is on the edge of the cutting which is partly made up with spoil from the tunnelling.
The tunnel portal is just visible between the trees.- 20

Afternoon All,
At mils but came a different route to usual. We regularly walk down Worsborough bank but today we walked in the other direction, towards Penistone. Its not possible to walk on the track bed itself and the cutting between the two tunnels is collapsing.

we got a glimpse of the Northern Lights right down here so it must have been a real show for you folks in the UK.
Spent quite a bit of time (and money) ‘hunting the lights’ in Norway but i think the display last night was as good as anything ive seen. Only ever seen green lights until last night.

Evening All,
Tiring day at work due to heat, traffic congestion and an absence of sleep.
I was hoping to stay up and look for the northern lights, even got the camera set up,but feeling shattered and SWMBO has already hit the sack as she’s not been well.
So goodnight,
Robert

On our recent visit to Dortmund i was beginning to get a bit tense as our arrival at Bonn Koln airport for our flight was finely timed. We’d already lost 15minutes by the time the train arrived in Duisburg but somehow did make the time up and arrived at the airport exactly on time.
I should have known better than gamble on the trains as our outbound journey was 30 minutes late.
Thought the graffiti situation wast as bad as the last time I visited. -

I’m not sure the hoppers are repainted Fleischmann models looking at this article in N Bahn Magazin. I don’t read German but pretty sure the article is comparing AVM and a Fleischmann one.
Btw, I got a a pair of Fleischmann SBB ones from the Fleischmann stall at InterModelbau last month for 39.99 Euros.
Also got a Hobbytrain SBB Re4/4 II in red for 70.00 Euro, no instructions or label on box end indicating catalog number but not a ‘second’.

She would be leaving the hospital with a new liver or in a wooden box. Anyway, her consultant came round and said to a nurse in his entourage that her salt intake was to be reduced to an absolute minimum in order to reduce her bloating. He then said it want her to have 2 soluble paracetamolS four times a day. I just had to but in. Eight soluble paracetamol tablets contain the maximum daily recommended amount of sodium. He said if there was a problem the hospital pharmacy would notify him. I said I am a pharmacist and I’m notifying you.
Next time I saw him he said I was quite correct. Well surprise, surprise. It does make you wonder how long he’d been prescribing soluble paracetamol but then again you don’t want to know. Anyway Sil got a transplant and is doing well.Sorry about the ramble,
keep well,
Robert

@Andy Hayter mentioned the salt content of soluble medicines so I’ve copied this post I made a couple of years ago as I can’t be bothered to retell the episode.
I’ve reposted it as it still troubles me and it’s important that people know about ‘ hidden salt’.- 2

Evening All,
My team won tonight 3-2, but unfortunately it was the second leg of a two legged affair and we lost 3-1 so I won be going to Wembley this year. Can’t say as I too bothered, last year was so disappointing I don’t think I could make a return visit.
Anyway back to work tomorrow for three days.
Goodnight.

These are the classic Weird Al compositions, accompanied by piano accordion as original parodies of songs of the day like "My Bologna" (parody of My Sharona by the Knack). Songs like "Eat it" were a little later and came with a music video, as did "Like a Surgeon" because that had to be done in the 1980s.
I used to listen to the Dr. Demento Radio show - where Weird Al got his break. Weird Al and Tom Lehrer were regulars in his rotation.
Was in a cafe last week and Joan Jets ‘I love Rock and Roll’ can on the radio and couldn’t help thinking of Weird Al ‘ I love Rocky Road’
And just for good measure

On the other hand, I have a photo of my maternal grandmother, aged 17, holding her baby sister, aged 17 weeks. Nowadays, such a juxtaposition would be "Mother and child"....

Evening All,
Still visiting but technology doesn’t seem to be working particularly well at the moment.
Not posted anything recently as there’s nothing really of any interest or importance to say really.
Went to model show in Dortmund a couple of weekends ago but was accompanied by the dark one ( and I don’t mean Darth Vader).
In spare bedroom as nephews have come for a sleepover but its probably better in here as the early morning sun doesn’t come streaming in like it does in the main bedroom.
Slow progress on the retirement front but still going forward. Been at work quite a bit recently doing the delivery runs which at least gets me out and it’s not too stressful and I don’t really have to interact with anyone too intensely.
Im beginning to ramble so hopefully everyone is well and good night.

TBF Belgian stations are pretty grim. There are plenty of candidates for the derelict stations thread. Midi/Zuid is a bit of a dump.
@Talltim - the AM80 always looks very British to me. I can't quite place my finger on it. There is something that reminds me of the BR AC EMUs and oddly, a little bit of the Midland Pullman
I am happy to accept that I am seeing things that probably aren't thereFunnily enough I thought about the Pullman unit even before seeing the lower picture.

Interestingly the SBB IC 2000 stock will not be seen coupled to ordinary stock as the inter coach gangway is set high up at the upper deck level.
