  1. Our next meeting is Saturday 2nd November in Rainford starting at 1pm. Venue is the Corpus Christie Church Hall, Alfred Street, Rainford, Merseyside WA11 8BY Lots going on with layouts from, Alan Mountfield, Steve Lomax, Jim Hodgkiss, Tony Ennis, Colin Oldfield and Keith Naylor with his Kato test track. The 5.5mm Assoc Modular Group will be there. Brian Davis and Les Nehlrich will be manning their show you how stands. The Sales Tables will have, Locos, rolling stock, wagon kits plus lots more to spend your hard earned cash. Ted Stowell will have his 5 inch gauge De Winton loco and rolling road and you can see Teds superb engineering skills. Refreshments. Free Parking. Come and spend a few hours with like minded NG modellers, play trains, have a brew and a chat. Stan.
  2. Venue, Rainhill Village Hall, Weaver Avenue, Rainhill, Merseyside L35 4LU open 10am to 5pm The NG section will be upstairs in the Teak Room, lift available. A host of Narrow Gauge layouts along with Sales Tables with lots of goodies. Our friends from the Rainhill MRC will be holding their own exhibition in the Main Hall. So you get two shows for the price of entry. Refreshments available all day and there is plenty of parking around the hall. A Vintage Bus will be running between the hall and the Transport Museum in St Helens. Come and join us and spend a few hours with like minded modellers. Stan.
  3. Having just had a very succesful show at Wigan Finescale last weekend, we move on to Warrington on the 19th/20th October. The 009 Publicity Stand will be in attendance with a host of items and 009 society kits for members to purchase. Supported by a number of 009 layouts with Frank Allens RC demo stand. Come along and support a really good show and spend time with like minded NG modellers. Stan.

  7. Terry, I am sure you will be at the Wigan Finescale Show over the weekend of the 5th/6th October. Do come and see us in the Narrow Gauge section and play trains for a couple of hours, test out locos and stock. We will have 5 009 layouts there in various sizes and various different track radii. Locos will be from 0-4-0T to tender locos and NGG16 Garratts. Try us out, ask as many questions as you like and we will have 009 stock available at very competitive prices, maybe join the 009 society ? Stan Williams.

  9. THe Merseyside & South West Lancs Group are stepping in to help Wigan Finescale to plug a large gap after they have lost Liverpool Lime Street, due to the owner being taken ill. Rothampton 009 St Etienne 009 Glynceriog 009. Will be joining Crummack Valley 009 and Abhain An Scail/ Annascaul Irish NG layout. THere will also be support from the 009 Society Publicity Stand.   10. The tighest curve on Tan Y Allt 009 layout was ten and half inches and the NGG16 would go round that pulling a train of bogie coaches without a problem. That also applied to the K1 Garratt. Stan.

  13. I am not sure where you are based and it sounds that you are very new to model railway modelling. Is there a model railway club close to you, or have you tried to find out if there is an 009 Society group in your area. I am certain you would learn a lot more about modelling if you got involved with the above. Modelling on the internet has its limits. Stan.
  14. Setting up starts this Evening and by 9pm there should be a few stands and layouts set up. Looking to be a cracking show tomorrow, doors open at 10am. Apart from the model railways, why not sample the refreshments available, laid on by the ladies of All Saints Parish Church, Rainford. Pull up a chair, rest your wallet, have a brew and talk railway modelling with like minded modellers, you know it makes sense. See you there. Stan.
  15. Well if the weather stays fair, we are planning to have a battery operated NG loco with carriages laid out on the patio area alongside the Hall. So if you fancy a ride or just play with larger trains come along and spend a few hours with like minded modellers. The tea, coffee may just keep any cold away. Stan.
  16. As well as model railways come along and enjoy the homemade sandwiches and cakes by the ladies in the kitchen. Early doors, rest your wallet sit down and enjoy a bacon butty with a brew. Featuring, Layouts, traders, show you stands and the 009 Society Sales Stand. Refreshments. Free Parking including the overflow carparks. The hall is wheelchair friendly and all on one level The 009 Society AGM will be held in a seperate hall, while the show continues. Entry fee, Adults £5.00 children under 15 if accompanied by an adult, entry is free.
