  2. Are you a member of the 009 society ? They have a sales dept and if there is a problem you can send them back and you do have access to a large number of items, plus the monthly newsletter/magazine. Well worth it as you could well recoup your membership fee in savings on stock. Stan.
  3. Keith, Merseyside &South West Lancs Group for all NG modelling. We are hoping we will be able to restart our meetings in Rainford, Merseyside later in the year, if we get the go ahead from the government. Saturday afternoons and we cover all NG modelling with layouts, show you how and the sales tables. Most welcome to join us, just drop a me a line. Stan Williams.
  4. The majority of the countries listed are some of the poorest and live in overcrowded dwellings, so any illness will be passed on. Regarding western culture, viruses are passed on easier when people are crammed into planes, trains and buses and the reason we always have a high flu rate every year. Maybe we need to change our culture, more working from home, cut out unessential packed travel and not reliant on what seems to be our largest industry these days, hospitality ? Lets start making and building things again. Stan.
  5. In the UK, they say that three out of every five babies are conceived in a IKEA bed. Which is strange, because those stores are very well lit !! Stan.
  6. We will be holding our first get together since February when our group take over the West Lancs Light Railway on Saturday19th September. Locos should be in steam by 10.30am/ 11.00am and will run to around 5pm unless we all collapse earlier. Passenger and a goods train to enable the photo and film runs to have more footage. Tour of the works and sheds, drive a diesel and really enjoy ourselves. Keeping everything crossed that the weather will be dry. Stan.
  7. I know of one exhibition that has to make a large outlay in October, if they want to go ahead with their show in March. Its not a club that relies on the show keeping the club going, so why risk it. THey think there is about a 10% chance of it taking place. Hopefully, there is always another year. Stan.
  8. Warrington MRC Show in October has now been cancelled due to restrictions in the College. 2021 dates 16th/17th October 2021. S.
  9. Just an up date, The 009 Society have just on 2,000 members spread around the UK, Europe, Down under and other distant parts. Members days are expected to pay their way, but there is a backup if things go wrong. Stan.
  10. For some reason, the piece I mentioned yesterday came back up when listing the cancellation of the Wigan Show. Maybe my ignorance of how to use the internet !!
  11. Sadly Wigan Finescale have announced that their exhibition this October will not go ahead. Stan.
  12. People mention Warley and other large shows fall into the problem of accommodation. How many people do Warley provide accommodation for, do you allow exhibitors from the same club to share a room or do you have to provide single rooms for every exhibitor.? If its the latter. look at the costs and would there be enough hotels, Premier Inns, Travel Lodges within easy driving distance ? In my neck of the woods there is restricted parking in carparks around businesses ie one bay left empty between vehicles. How many people would be prepared to pay double the price of entry, to cover the extra costs ? Stan.

  14. Cambridge University have just announced that there will be no face to face lectures/lessons until the Summer of 2021, possibly not until October next year. Manchester University have just announced the above but until the end of 2020. There will now be a whole host of other Universities doing the same. This puts in to perspective the situation this virus has created. There will not be any model railway shows for some considerable time and possibly far fewer when they return. Some who miss out this year may look at it more deeply and convince themselves that putting on an exhibition is hardwork and may decide not to comeback ? Stan.
  15. Just a reminder that our next meeting due to take place on Saturday 9th May is Cancelled. Keep safe and take care of yourself and hopefully we will be up and running sooner rather than later. Stan.
