  1. With 093 all finished I’ve turned my attention to my EE type 3, still in the early stages and lots to do

  2. Grabbed an hour today so I fitted the detailing pack to the 56 and printed off the remaining Templot for the stabling point.  I’ve also printed off the exit road which leads on to the Bootle branch towards ELJ, so I might model this as well.

Looks like you may have the beginnings of an 80s fleet there! Depending on which locos I put on the layout I can go from late 70s to early 90s and all times in between. My favourite time is 84-85 when most locos were still in banger blue, but the first IC and Railfreight liveries were starting to appear.

I love the mid 60’s because of the liveries the odd kettle and the early diesel’s abs electrics but my spotting days were the mid to late 80’s so I will get a few I’ll be honest, and going by the 56 I think I’ll be ordering a 60 to.  I also have a soft spot for cl90’s 🙄

  4. Thanks everyone so much I really do appreciate the kind words 🫡

I’m slowly getting back into it and I’m going to concentrate on the stabling point I started for now as it’s only tiny and I’ll work on that until it’s finished.  I’ve finally had my Accurascale 37 out the box she ran it in and this little beauty.  Not my usual era but I had to have one and I have to say it’s one of the best detailed and sounding locos I’ve had.

    Thanks again

    Hi Paul,

Really pleased to hear that you like your 093, I think that could possibly be my favourite!

I notice in the second photo that you posted it appears that one of the handrails is missing, can you please check and confirm?

Apologies if it is but we can get you a replacement sent out in the post.

    Hope that helps.

I’ve just checked and it is indeed missing, to be honest I hadn’t even noticed because I was so impressed with it.

I’ve just sent a private message.

    Many thanks

  6. Got my hands on 093 from Rails yesterday and although I’ve not had chance to get it out of the box I have to say it looks very impressive.  I did order the EM gauge drop in wheel sets but they weren’t in the packaging, I did phone Rails but they said they haven’t got them yet and they’ll follow shortly.

These look great Paul. Is this done by painting the bogies first then adding the weathering pigments and left to dry and then once again painting over them to get the desired effect?

Thanks very much, I’ve painted the bogies with acrylic matt black then added various weathering powders, then the oil effect was added using a method I’ve not tried before on a loco.  This is then sealed with matt varnish then some areas have more paint added along with more powders all over and into the oily areas then once again sealed with the matt varnish.  Oil affect is actually diesel oil mixed with black powder.

    Thanks again
