Well I had pre-built track for a start which helped. I think the best approach is to get a small section completed to the extent that you can take proper pictures of you locos against a good backdrop and then work out from there rolling out the scenic elements. Been discussing that on the Realistic Modelling thread with that super Stratford St. Mary layout that has been built up in segments and worked on for years.
I'll not do anything for a couple of weeks and then start to tinker and before I know it I'm engaged by it all again. Rinse and repeat.
I’ll have to take a look at that realistic thread, haven’t had a nosey at it in months, I definitely helps to get things done in small sections otherwise interest can be lost with the task ahead. Also to have something to play with helps hugely. Initially ELJ will be just two boards but there will be a third eventually, nothing to exciting but I’ll will add a little bit extra to it 😉

It'll be great to see this come together. The track looks splendid as does the bridge.
Cheers buddy, I’ll be glad to get all the track done on this board as I’ve built it about five times over the years 😂 it’ll be great to do build the next section and do something new!
I just need to pick up the pace as it’s so easy to become lazy. You had yours built in about a week I need to take whatever you’re taking! 🤣
Many thanks again

Thanks very much for the kind comments Paul. If only they were true mate. I'm having a mare with this 3F, everything I do I have to do at least twice. I'm hoping that I've cracked it now and all the jigs and correcting errors with my workstation will pay off in making the next one easier. The 3F was always going to be a learning curve as I've never converted a RTR loco before only having built locos from kits. The difference between Gibson wheels and the one's in conversion kits is frustrating as they have not got crankpin holes due to issues in the tooling as the one for the sets doesn't have a pin for the crankpin holes so you only have a dimple and this makes for issues as the old mince pies ain't what they used to be. Now that I've got things sorted out in my head things should go more smoothly with the next one which is totally different as it's a 4F and they have drive on the rear axle and split axle pick ups. The drive on the rear will make quartering easier but I'm not sure about the split axle pick ups on the tender. The instructions for the conversion are interesting to say the least. But hey ho I'll sort it out I have no doubt.
Thanks again Lez.
Your very welcome, thankfully I’ll only have one or two steamers, can’t the original wheels be pulled out Lez like on the more modern diesel locos?

That pointwork looks really good, Paul. Well done!! It's something I really enjoy doing too.
Rod
Thanks Rod, once you get into it it’s quite fun isn’t it and not as scary as it seems, I found it much easier in 7mm but I think that’s my age 😂
Thanks again

So I went with 0.4mm double sided copper clad pads under the switchblades and 1mm square nickel silver for the bars. Jig built and solder construction throughout. It was my third effort having rejected the first two options that were not up to scratch. Page three of my thread Paul, feel free to use it if you like the look of it as it's just my own take on someone else's method and I've detailed the jig on the same page.
Regards Lez.
Thanks for that Lez I’ll take a look 😃👍🏼

Making some nice progress mate
Brian
To be honest think I’ll be just using some thin copper clad with cosmetic tie bars attached to, it’s the only thing I can think of to be honest.

What’s wrong with P4 (says the code 100 diehard!)?
Paul.
Small steps, once Phil has built this EM he can then go the whole hog and build it again in P4 😉
