changes user name to Aaron A Aardvark!

Just paid for my final 66 I’d ordered, I’ll have to see if the guys can turn the reward voucher I couldn’t use on this purchase at the checkout back into points again

next job is to make some more room in my display cabinets again

Are you working some RDs to pay for this 🤣

  2. I’m sure the team are doing their very best in getting pre ordered out, I’m waiting for evening star but I’m sure it will come when it can! I know it’s frustrating when other modellers have got theirs. The wait is nearly over! I’ve got to do some RDs to get a sound chip and speaker at some point!

the lamp was is perfect to tone down the white wash!

im currently unsure to want to change the lamps! I would have though local or express passenger would have been better!

  4.  So managed to sort the smokebox door, I think it was held with a bit of glue plus the magnet that I thinks on there, I have to take the body of 4 times because the lamp wouldn’t light up when running! Now sorted!

not really sure why they have put a class H headcode, would have thought local or express passenger would have been better?

I’m reluctant in changing the headcode. I think you have to remove the body off and push from the bottom?

Any update of the new PCB?

I’ve learn that my model got a fault with the 6 pin interface, I’ve tried 2 6 pin decoders, and doesn’t work, I’ve ran the loco in DC to run it in.

Great idea, shame it’s not plug in, I’d take it, it will have to be soldered on the PCB? will there be any more liveries in the coming years?

    Morning,

Neither MR-203 or MR-204 come with skirts. The prototype 68225 and 68226 ran as per and although the Wisbech and Upwell required the motion to be covered, 68225 was a regular on the W&U.

The only skirted examples produced by Model Rail/ Rapido in BR livery were MR-202 or MR-205 and these have long since sold out.

The other regular skirted example in BR days on the W&U was 68217 but this had minor detail differences to the ends which I believe isn't catered for by the existing tooling.

All of the original batch produced by Rapido for Model Rail have a six pin decoder and it's only the recent GER locos produced by Rapido for themselves which have a next 18 decoder.

Possibly there will be another run of BR J70s in the future but not sure if these would come from Model Rail or Rapido themselves. Model Rail have recently commisioned the Class 11 and the PWM shunters from Heljan and have the Vale of Reidol tank engines seemingly coming next so they seem quite busy.

So who knows when or from whom any further releases if any, will emerge from but for now, I believe there are no plans for further batches.

    Rob.

Many thanks for this. I’ve ordered KMR-203 from kernow model railway, I’m also intending fitting sound eventually, any chance of a close up of the chassis? Do these have a speaker already fitted?

As i said there is no cause for worry. We can also supply an 8 ohm speaker if anyone is unduly concerned 👍

Could you put this accessories page on the website? The consumer could have the choice either a 4ohms or 8 ohms speaker?

  11. Hi All

my tramcars arrived at the weekend, unfortunately one of them is damaged and missing parts, I did contact the retailer but unfortunately they haven’t got any more in stock, I’ve contacted Rapido and emailed warranty department, just waiting a reply as it was the weekend

No, its how the decoder is working (or not working).
I don't know where Gaugemaster sourced their next18 decoders, but a quick look at their manual suggests its not a very advanced design.

Different decoder and it will work -  a J72 I did a couple of years ago would run for at least 2 feet without power.   I used a Zimo decoder, which is what I guess was used in the Hornby magazine article.

Right O, I’m planning in the future to get an ESU Loksound next18 to fit,

If you tried it, then you'd know whether the stay alive still works.

Well, as soon at the power is removed it stops, so it must be the way the circuit board has been design?
