  1. Hi guys,

    52611688379_44027a4a9c_b.jpg

so I’ve made a fiddle yard board! You might be thinking why I’ve made the board like this, I’m going to try to be clever and see if I can put the board in two ways, but I’m still undecided, yet of what to do.

This is where the board will be fitted where the train will be coming off the layout at the point.

  2. Sorry for not keeping everyone updated, working, then two sons to look after and driving at the GCR, not much time working on the layout. Finally I’ve managed to get sometime up and….. the layout is up in the garage. Some damage has happen but it’s only where some of the ballast hasn’t drying on to the board. Hopefully I want to get some sort of fiddle yard built and Back scenes fitted slow process. Money is now very tight so trying to save.

that may be the case but a proper prototypical 20 minute prep and walk around of the loco prior to moving it would have avoided the issue, i mean @rorz101uk was stood there and had you reported the fault he could have sorted it for you with him being an ex fitter, its just amateur hour, not prepping your loco properly, hope you brake tested all your trains while in the fiddle yard too? 😜

Didn’t report it to control first before I can fix @big jim! Plus I was carrying out a few brake tests!

You are KR senior and I claim my £5.

It's the same excuse he's trotted out since the errors were noted.

Chris, not really sure what you mean “KR Senior” I hope you use your imaginary £5 to good use. If you can show me the details of what wrong with the model, I have other priorities so I have kept up to date with the production of the model.

What did your last unpaid serf expire from?

Because you were holding your iThing the wrong way round when you took the pic I'd have to go down the office, fire up the PC and Photoshop and rotate it, save it and edit your post for you. 🤬

    There wasn't even a 'please'.

I sincerely apologise for my for not asking properly, I thought I put “Please” at the start of the question. I wasn't trying to disrespect you.

    and to your question,

she is still alive, weather I will be is a diffent matter.

  6. So Update of my fell

running very free now after being on the rolling road. Here is a few pictures on a video

Yeh it’s a shame about the paint coming off the coupling rod bolts.

With regard of the loco, I’ve nice model! Obviously there’s some controversy over how accurate the locomotive is at some point, but this Loco was a test bed and modifications would’ve been the norm during its time in operation. The price for the model is very reasonable.

can the admin turn my picture the right way around.

    Hi Rory,

All the information we post is provided from the direct research that Revolution obtain from the close working relationships they have. This was a story they have been told about how it got that shade and creates interest to the history of the coach. Fairly typical of the workplace tales that are folklore in some industries. The real truth is probably a wrong paint code at some point whether it was written down wrong or the error came when it was mixed. The important thing is capturing the correct shade on the model which the Revolution team have obtained.

    Thanks

    Mark

I don’t Disagree with getting the right livery. Obviously somebody was telling Porkies!

    Hi everyone,

It's been a long time coming, and we've been bursting to show you the first of our decorated Class 37 samples to all of you who couldn't make the recent shows at Model Rail Scotland and the London Festival of Railway Modelling.

So, here is the first reveal, Accurascale Exclusive 97301 in Network Rail livery. Oh boy!

We will be showing further livery examples in the coming weeks, and providing a full update on delivery (on course from Q3 2022) when we receive them all, but in the meantime here is some lovely close ups of what our EE Type 3 will look like.

    Enjoy!

Usual caveats around fit and finish naturally apply, after all it's just an engineering sample sent for critiquing and correction, but we think you will agree that they are shaping up rather nicely.

Tempted? Of course you are! Our 37s have been very popular on pre-order, and 97301 is already fully sold out on pre-order. However, if you sign up to our email list on our website as per below you will be prompted should any come into stock via order cancellation.

    Cheers!

As far as I knew at the time Ultrascale didn't do the twin gear that meshes with the motor worm; maybe they do now.  You'd have to ask them.  I have to say my railbus works very nicely with brass final drive gears, brass intermediates and nylon twin gears.

As I said further up the page, the intermediate gear has a clearance fit on its shaft (it's supplied with the shaft), so it is free to rotate on it - which is just fine.  The brass final drive gear needs securing to the axle; while it's a tight-ish hand-push fit onto the axle, its grip on the axle is not enough on its own.  You will need to secure it in place - my method is to file/grind a flat onto the axle, creating a small gap where a tiny fillet of Araldite can bind both to the flat and the bore of the gear.  That's enough to lock it in place, for me anyway.

When you remove the damaged nylon final drive gear from the axle, you will find there are three (from memory) thrust washers either side of the gear, governing the sideways float of the axle/gear assembly.  Refit the washers selectively on the axle either side of the new brass gear, test fitting the axle/gear assembly in its housing in the railbus chassis to ensure you neither have too much float, nor so little float that the gear and axle pinch in the housing and don't run freely.  As it happens, I ended up using the same quantity of washers with the new brass gear as were used with the old nylon one, but you shouldn't take it for granted you'll use the same number.

Thanks Pete, a purchase next month!
