  1. I like the logic but I doubt it as Heljan stock almost never seems to enter the bargain bin. I've been waiting about 18 months for a reduced GWR 1370 and I've yet to see one south of £120 or so. Given the quality issues and lack of finesse I don't want to pay much more than £80-90 or so for a small tank loco. CoY
  2. And the numberplate looks like a novelty ashtray.
  3. One things for certain; there won't be any Hornby GWR Colletts from Fenwicks Newcastle - I cleared them out about 2 years ago! CoY
  4. Really? I think they're quite expensive for remaindered stock to be honest. CoY
  5. Yep, but I just don't see it selling at these prices. As you say, much of it can be had in mint used (or even 'new'!) condition on ebay for about 60-70% of these prices. Will be interesting to see if Hornby's resistance to bulk discounting will ever give way, in any form, as some this stock such as the Kings, K1's, D16's etc isn't shifting, despite it being 3 years old or more. I can't remember the last time I bought a brand new loco (that wasn't a commission) at the time of release for RRP - probably the Hornby Castle Wellington in 2015. Locos just simply cost too much now from new. CoY
  6. Yes, but it's the old tooling Hornby Castle and Mk 1's, neither of which are great. Hence there being 151 left in stock! It would suit modellers who are less ardent about detailing levels and accuracy I suppose. CoY
  7. My 1364, as arrived yesterday, partnered with a recently built Coopercraft 7-plank open (Dia 02), an Ian Kirk P17 ballast wagon built last year, and a modified Hornby AA15 Toad, allocated to Cardiff. An improbable but not impossible line up circa 1947? I need to get the rolling road out now... and a layout built! CoY
  8. Ok, thanks. If there are any other benevolent owners of unbuilt Slaters toplight kits reading this, and want to move them on to a good home, I can heartily endorse 53c as a good home for them! And if anyone from Slaters is reading - I would buy about ten of the toplight kits alone.... CoY
  9. Pray tell - are these new production or some old ones from Timbo's personal stash? CoY
  10. My 1361 is now apparently on its way, together with two bargain Bachmann GWR Shunters Trucks! CoY
  11. Sorry, I wasn't laughing at you, I was laughing at the outrageous lead time that Barwell have imposed on this model. Surely getting on for the longest gestation time of any RTR steam loco ever?
  12. Alternatively, there is the Old Time Workshop transfers. Whilst I have not been able to get hold of the proprietors over email, H & A Models sell them. Set 1 here, and Set 2 here. No connection, just a satisfied customer etc. CoY
  13. Some excellent footage, but the continuity editing was appalling. The CME waits at Goathland for 46100 to complete gauging trials; "here she comes", he exclaims. The next shot is of the loco trundling over the bridge at Grosmont, 4 miles away... Thought the General Manager came over very passive-aggressive too... CoY
  14. One thing you might want to try with painting the droplights and bollections is using the end of cocktail stick, and apply enamel paint sparingly? It will take longer - much longer really - but I think you would get better results as the cocktail stick would give you more control then a brush imo. I'll post a picture of my C30 re-livery project when I can muster up the courage to go into my sub-freezing hobby room! CoY
  15. Could I please ask for more info on the 3d printed toplight? Where/how/when etc? Cheers, CoY
  16. I ordered on 18/08/2014 and paid the balance over the phone on 08/01/2018. Not had anything in the way of confirmation since... CoY
  17. Without wanting to whine, I pre-ordered almost as soon as they were announced, paid the full balance last month, yet haven't had a peep out of Cambourne since these landed. CoY
  18. I don't usually condone chequebook modelling but I've felt grotty for a week and have treated myself.

What scale is the model chequebook?

      It's a T gauge chequebook.

  19. An NER Q7. The 20t NER/LNER hopper wagon has to mean something.... Id've gone for the J27 if someone else hadn't said it. CoY
  20. John, This image from Colour Rail seems to surface quite often. It's 2460 in G-W-R Green at Severn Tunnel Junction in May 1947. CoY
