  1. As someone suggested in an earlier post, I should be able to run a fair few different HST combos and various other trains so I've been running through a stock list. Currently in the cupboard I have: Harry Patch HST Unnamed FGW HST Corps of REME HST GWR HST XC HST Enough MK3s to make two complete 8 car sets in blue (with buffet, micro buffet, no buffet and 1st/2nd composite), one complete GWR set, and one complete XC set. Virgin 220 Voyager XC 220 Voyager XC 221 Voyager FGW 57 Complete sleeper set (including correct buffet and BFO) 158 (to be resprayed in to GWR) 2x DRS 37s plus short set (fictitious replacement of units for branch) DBS 59 12x IOAs for ballast train. 2x JIA China Clays (I need another 8) So I'm assuming in addition to the above, I'm going to need some 150's 150/1 + 150/2), a 153, a 144 (or 143), a Steamer and a Charter Set, and some EWS 66s. Can anyone think of anything else that would run through Taunton apart from the Network Rail HST and Track Care stock? Thanks in advance Mike
  2. Loving these pictures and I've been lucky enough to have been in the driving seat of this loco (I'm nothing to do with the Railway) which for someone who's favourite loco is a 47 was a remarkable experience. I bet you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves. Mike
  3. It's all done with cheap acrylics Chris, from The Range (or similar shop), they're about £1.25 each. I painted the 'slabs' all one colour and then dry brushed different greys, browns and blacks over them. The Sandy / Orange ones on the up platform were painted with some weird yellow colour, almost like an ochre and then had the same process done to them. Different brushes seemed to give different effects so I just randomly dabbed, scratched, brushed and rubbed the paint on. Here's a picture of it now that I've redone the slabs and added the H&S lines - ignore the AWS Ramp, it's not finished yet which is why it looks like a bit of plastic. I still need to weather the lines too and remove the excess white paint from under the yellow one!
  4. I'm getting a bit annoyed here Chris.......I'm supposed to be the ONE that's making RTR stuff look real!!! You've done another good job there if you ask me mate, I think it's brilliant! Mike
  5. Hi Al Really enjoyed reading through your thread because your layout design is very similar to mine and I seem to remember looking at your bridge a few months ago and it inspired me to have a go at building one myself. Keep the updates coming mate. Mike
  6. I've obviously taken far too many drugs in my lifetime.......if you look at the chimney stack (or whatever it is), you can see a face
  7. They look like they've been manufactured from the factory!! Great Work! Mike
  8. That's the EASY bit buddy. Get yourself some decent masking tape and stick it down 1mm (three inches) from the edge and splosh some paint on......literally! Then after a minute of two, remove the masking tape before the paint is completely dry and you should end up with something resembling a white line painted by a workman that doesn't care about his work (apologies to anyone that does this for a living.......I was joking).
  9. Hi Adrian I used the same method as you did with the Peco platform edging and laid an extra strip of plasticard up against the coping stones to increase the width. I then scored it with a razor saw to match the Peco slabs. Cheers Mike
  10. Forgot to add this picture to give an idea of the job in hand! It actually looks quite messy but it's not quite so bad to the naked eye. This was taken before I'd added the white line to the platform on the left. I've also repainted the coping stones on the right hand platform so that I can get the white line the right size and not a scale half foot as it was before!
  11. As previously mentioned, I've not really had a lot of time to do much lately but last night I did a bit more work on the 'Down' platform. I think the station is going to take forever to build because even though it's fairly simple in design, it's actually quite detailed and I've made it ten times harder for myself by not using a uniform platform surface. Here's the (almost) end result (please excuse the holes, they'll be covered up with a load of weeds) ....and now with the correct width white edging! I'm having an absolute mare with the 'Up' platform because I can't remember how I got the paint effect on the first lot of slabs!
  12. Nice looking coach. I do like Pete's MK2s, even if they are a little expensive......but then again, you get what you pay for.
  13. Cheers buddy, and it certainly is! I've got Harry Patch, two blue ones and halfway through a green effort along with an XC one too, plus three Voyagers and a 158. I need to get a 150/1, a 150/2, a 153 and a Torvill and Dean (143) to finish off the passenger stuff (excluding a charter train of some sort). Luckily, I'm not going to need too much freight as I've got a load of IOAs already so I'm looking at a rake of JIAs and maybe an engineers train of some description. The worst part for me is putting sound in everything - I'll need a small mortgage! Mike
  14. Well it's safe to say that Scott removed everything he had for sale from ebay, and hopefully, he's boxed it all up and stuck in in the cupboard for when he's got a bit more time and love for the hobby. I'm sure we've all got a bit fed up from time to time and it's no different from me with my cars and bikes, although there's one big difference.......the trains never depreciate in value!
  15. I've only just seen this James.......you're such a nutcase!! I'll show you how to get the most realistic looking Peco track in the world if you'll teach me how to build stuff like this. Pure brilliance!! Mike
  16. Looking forward to hearing the new speakers at Warley Charlie
  17. Pretty poor on the update front lately........mainly because I haven't actually done anything except fit one lamp post! I've also been busy with work, causing chaos and confusion at exhibitions, and fitting various different speakers to 37s, HSTs and Voyagers! Hopefully, I'll be back on the case next week because people keep asking me if I'd like to take it out on the road........hmmmmmmm, it's nowhere near finished yet!!
  18. If I can get Oak Road to look as good as this Nigel, I'll be really pleased. Looks awesome! Mike
  19. Glad I convinced you not to sell up Scott.....Never EVER.....SELL YOUR TRAINS!
  20. That's the maddest thing I've seen in ages! I'd never have the patience to build that crossing!!
