  3. Evening everyone. Well thats it for another year. A huge thank you to all of this years exhibitors, demonstrators & traders. Some really nice modelling on display this year. Also a huge thank you to all our honorary SMRS members Friends, Family & Volunteers who help make the whole thing possible. Once we've had chance to get all the info collated we should be able to see how the exhibition was on paper, but for me it felt like a great show with some really busy moments. Thank you to everyone who attended the show we hope you enjoyed it, see you all next year. Kind regards Chris
  4. Looking forward to a second day at the show today, I'll do my best to post some more pics from around the show. Also i've a point motor to change on The Mill before we open & a bit of a shopping list that needs addressing. See you all there. Chris
  5. Evening. Had a good day at Shipley today with The Mill, a lot of people stopping by to say hi & it ran well until about 12 when a point blade come unsoldered on the single slip which we managed to fix (thanks to Paul & Nicola for the support :-) ) despite it being buried amongst the sets. Then once that had been sorted one of the Tortoise motors failed! Luckily(?) all this meant was that we couldn't access the coal drops so there was 'no coal at t'mill today'. I'll be getting there first thing tomorrow morning to change it before we open at 10am. Anyone who is planning on coming to the show be sure to say hello. Cheers Chris
  6. It makes me very sad & concerned that this is how you feel after your visit to the show today. So, as a member of the club I would invite you to PM me your more detailed comments as feed back that I can present & discuss with the exhibition team. Many thanks Chris
  7. 21st Century Schizoid Man - King Crimson
  8. Morning all... The show is well under way with a really good turn out of people. A few pics for you, Cheers for now. Chris
  9. Evening all.. All set up & ready for the weekend. Just waiting on a couple of traders & a layout who are setting up in the morning. We have layouts & traders on all three floors so be sure to make your way round the whole show to get a good look at everything. Also be sure to have a look on the SMRS members sales stand on the top flood, some real bargains to be had! A huge thanks to everyone who got stuck in today & helped with setting up for the weekend, especially the ones who aren't even able to attend the exhibition. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Cheers Chris
  10. Evening Penrhos1920 Yes we have refreshments. On the first floor we have a decent amount of seating & a good selection of food & drink including sandwiches, hotdogs, pie & peas & homemade cakes & buns. See you there...
  11. Evening. The Mill will be appearing at Shipley MRS 39th annual exhibition this weekend along side a host of other excellent layouts. If your free it's always a great show & worth a visit. Even if I do say so myself :-) http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123715-shipley-exhibition-september-16th-17th-2017/ cheers Chris
  12. Evening all... Just a little reminder that the exhibition is this weekend. Much busying about & preparation was underway last night at club to start getting things ready for setting up on friday. I'll be splitting myself between The Mill & Clayton. We are all very much looking forward to the show after an unavoidable year off. Please come & say hello & chat to any Shipley members & find out what we are up to as a club. See you all at the weekend. Cheers Chris
  13. Morning Mark Yes it was good to meet you to at the weekend. A particularly good expo EM North/Autumn I thought. I like your idea for a shorting strip I'll be sure to give it a try. I had thought of something similar using some .35 beryllium copper wire I have either wound once or twice round the axle. Cheers Chris
  14. Evening Mark I'm glad you enjoyed the article in MRJ. Yes, its defiantly an interesting prototype & we're doing our best to reproduce it as accurately as we can. Regards the ash ballast, as Frank has said above we will be weathering it in to try & get the right appearance. Cheers Chris
  15. Evening all... Not a lot of action on Clayton this evening at club due to all hands needed in preparation for the clubs exhibition this weekend. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123715-shipley-exhibition-september-16th-17th-2017/?p=2754990 We did get chance to take a moment for a bit of playing train. Franks Q2 & my J4 pass on the main line. Cheers for now. Chris
  16. Jumping at Shadows - Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac
  17. It looks to me like it might have been taken late afternoon in the Sunday when it generally quitens off. Sunday morning felt particularly busy to me. Chris
  18. Evening Another excellent expo EM North Autumn! A huge thank you to Derek, Alan & the team for putting on a first rate show. The variation & high standard of the layouts this year was top notch, seeing some for the first time & at least one for its last. As always the full compliment of traders were present plus the members sales stand. I had the pleasure to be one of the demonstrators at this years show, focusing on loco construction. Both days saw a lot of people stopping by to chat & see what I was on with, with some people asking my advice on various aspects of loco construction. I hope it will by of use. I really enjoyed the whole demo-ing thing & look forward to possibly doing it again in the future. As always it was good to catch up with folk I don't get to see to often. Already looking forward to next year. Cheers Chris
  19. Looks bloody brilliant Andy! Looking forward to seeing it at the weekend.
