  10. I just had a quick Google & found this, https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=uk+military+railway+loading+gauge&rlz=1C9BKJA_enGB620GB620&hl=en-GB&prmd=isnv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiGzNTIoeHTAhWJLcAKHQ2KBy0Q_AUICSgB&biw=1024&bih=653#imgrc=dfvBujRmxE1FaM:&spf=197 Going off that it looks to be ok. 2mm clearance should be plenty. Cheers Chris
  11. Evening. The Avonside at its widest is 34mm across the cylinders & the motion brackets! It's gonna be tight. Chris
  12. Evening all. Just look at how easy (and free) it is to acquire 'how to' knowledge on here. Just a quick look in the Kit building & Scratch building section will give you what are essentially ongoing 'articles' on anything from basic construction & kit bashing of rolling stock & locos right up to people scratch building almost everything. In addition to this if you have specific interests & even questions about how to do something there are more than enough like minded people on here willing & able to assist. So, my point being why would you buy a mag for the best part of £5 that if we are being honest are currently nothing more than sales catalogues for the RTR firms. Cheers Chris
  13. Evening... The three opens finished with all the shiny bits painted dirty matt black, just 'the vans' to finish off now. Chris
  14. Afternoon Ruston Its part of the mount for the coupling & its purpose is to ensure the hook wire returns to the correct height, centrally & allows sideways deflection when engaging with another coupling. See this post for more detail, http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/90024-the-mill/page-16&do=findComment&comment=1882039 Cheers Chris
  15. Morning all... The underside of the 7 plank open showing the AJ mounts located down inbetween the underfame. Just needs the droppers adding & the mounts painting dirty black. Really hoping to have all 6 wagons done (3 left to do) in time for the Skills day on Sat 11th March in Littleborough. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/118941-emgs-the-4th-chris-kedgley-memorial-skills-day/ Cheers Chris
  16. Evening all... Nothing like a dead line to help re-focus what's currently on the bench. With The Mill out on the 11th March, I though I better get these excellent wagons built by Jason finally fitted with AJs. I'm hoping to make a start this evening. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/118941-emgs-the-4th-chris-kedgley-memorial-skills-day/ Cheers Chris
