  1. What paper do you print the bricks onto? Ps Looking good.. Loved the Milk train set, must do something similar when I have some background
  2. It would be good to be by that hut, just sitting in the wheel barrow watching the trains go by! Nicely done.
  3. Could you.. When you are next there.. Take a nice square on picture for me please? I've a coaling stage and a goods shed that's craving a sign....
  4. I've been playing with JMRI's Sound Decoder Pro over the weekend.. There are some pretty serious limitations with it, but it's certainly an interesting project. I've tweaked the standard steam file to try and speed match the pannier better, I've also added my own whistle, but the loop isn't quite right so not great, but proves it can be done.. Just a very, very quick demo..
  5. I've been scouring the internet for a GW engines must not pass this point sign, but can't find one. Does anyone have a picture maybe, nicley square on that I could use to make a sign? I've found a BR one, but I'm sure I've seen a GW one.
  6. Baseboard is fine.. It's the fact of removing both sections, replacing the section off the point, replacing 4 screws for the join and the 4 cables. Just to move it over 1cm! All the track is also painted, so the new section will also need painting.
  7. That's a fair comment.. I did my current layout, because I'd not done by 009 track on my other layout. If you do fancy something, try the Woodland Scenics track painters, having the side of the rails painted just takes the edge off the code 100 rail. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj71u3vqcXTAhUmIsAKHZ2-Cv0QtwIIWjAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DfxDNpUPZ-e8&usg=AFQjCNFmIngWaRJ0xFQRva0_QZItGDKCjg&sig2=WkpXe6pM7Fv9LdlD2fMmaQ
  8. I planned last night to set out the fencing and get the station building closer to completion. But.. I found anything other than a short wheelbase van was hitting the platform in the bay. So, instead I lifted it and yes, it's over a baseboard joint! Very frustrated, but now is the time to fix it!
  9. That's looking good. How long did the ballast take you? My only comment/concern, are you planning to paint the track? I did mine first as I thought it would be a little easier.
  10. It's just a Bachmann, with a little tweak here and there.
  11. The Mogul is back in service! The tender is now a nice Great Western, I painted the backhead after taking the silly sit down crew out. The cab has also had the windows replaced with Glass and Glaze from the nice people at deluxe materials. Fall plate, coal and a crew completes the picture. I'm going to build some fire irons to drop onto the coal, but that can wait.
  12. Not much happened over the weekend.. Went to the Williams F1 collection, if you like that kind of thing I can highly recommend it. Very nice afternoon seeing F1 cars from 1978 till the present day. I use photopaper to print my brick paper, this gives a nice print and I find it works better than printing onto standard white paper. It does however have quite a shine to it, even after a few coats of matt varnish. The platform had been bothering me and I was concerned how much it would tone down, even after some weathering, so I did a small test area. What do people think? Front edge needs some work as the runs are showing.
  13. I tried to play the one with the 13xx and it just crashed pocketmags on my windows 10 surface.
  14. Looking good! I solved the problem of little fingers on my layout quite easily.. I build another layout just for them! My 3 year old and 2 year old love to play, my 10 year old nephew can be left for hours (days if we let him) to play. About the old collets.. What's wrong with painting the roofs? I take the view, what else are you going to do with them? Let them collect dust? If you are worried, why not mask up the sides. That said, the new ones are so nice, I don't run the old ones anymore!
  15. I've had a nice flurry of comments and feedback.. Thanks to everyone for stopping by We have a working name, thanks to my Daughter. So anyone who has young kids might recognise this one.. 'Castle Down'. Somewhere near the south coast, where the Southern and GWR meet in the shared station. It's a busy location as there is the brewery, dairy and general merchandise. There will also be regular workings for fruit, crops and other produce from the local farms. Should keep it very busy! I'm sure many of you have done this before, but, I bought some T-Cut this week. So now the GWR has been removed from the Mogul's tender. It was quite scary, I didn't want to wreck it. But in the end it was fine, a couple of cotton buds, some fairly hard rubbing and they came off.
  16. Might need to get some coffee and cake ready for 1pm..
  17. Hey. You just create a thread in the layouts section, not a blog.
  18. There is a generation gap there then
  19. I like the quick video.. Well done (Sorry) Well done!!!!
  20. Yes, they did a tv show of it too... About 1981?
  21. It was said more tongue in cheak as I though they looked really silly.
  22. Are they full armchairs, with backs like these? I think there is a lot of licence being used here.
  23. The Radial is a lovely looking loco and a cracking runner. Oxford have done a nice job. I still wait with baited breath over their Dean Goods, there has just been too much bad press on the small errors.. I don't think there is a huge Southern pull for me, just a small smattering to add some colour. On to another question then When did the GWR introduce seats for both the driver and fireman? And also employ some very small people too.. I think it's time this Mogul went under the knife.
