  1. G'day Gents The D3 has moved on a little bit, mostly cab and splashers, but the body used to sit to high, so a lot of material has been removed and a groove has been made in the body to allow it to sit lower, everything's a little rough at the moment. manna
  2. G'day Gents Still watching your progress, and good it looks to, been very hot here, packed all my socks and jumpers away, probably won't be needing them for another couple of months. As you say, not very adventurous with the street names, but lots of small Aussie towns have the same street names. manna
  3. G'day Gents Very nice, but you missed there bootlace's or are they wearing clogs (LOL) manna
  4. G'day Gents 'Bout time I caught up with all my jobs, had another bout of Flu just before Christmas, the third in six months, which knocked me about a bit, then it was time to replace the tiled floor in the kitchen, pneumatic drills Etc. Now I can get back modelling, this time it's a LNER D3, the chassis is from a Hornby 4-4-0 County class, which is tender drive, the wheelbase is only a mill out, which is good enough for me, there's very little to do with the chassis, remove the pistons and grind 1.5mm off the extension bar that the piston clip onto (see pics) so far the boiler and running plate, are on there way to completion. Piccy time manna
  5. G'day gents That old Ivatt might take 4 and half hours to get to Gt Yarmouth, but who wouldn't want to do it today, ME ME ME !! manna
  6. G'day Gents And there's me thinking a nice model of Queensbury was on the cards..............not half of Bradford !!!!! Good luck. manna

G'day Gents Although my primary interest is the LNER I do have enough loco's, stock to run a BR timetable, including a Cravens 105, which would if the line had stayed open, been a common feature of the branch, it's doubtful if a Baby Deltic would have made the trip to Edgware, even with a coal train, but I suppose anything can happen when rule one is applied. I will endeavour to picture some of the classes that 'may' have reached Edgware, if it had closed a lot later and kept it's passenger service until (at least) 1970, although if it had kept it's passenger service until that date, we may still have that service today. Also I would like to wish everybody a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Piccy time. manna
  12. G'day Gents Don't let it get you down, put the modelling to one side and enjoy Christmas, I'm on my third bout of Flu, in the last six months, not doing much, but a Dapol Deltic is coming along !! Merry Christmas. manna

  16. G'day Gents Been having a wonderful time lately at Peterborough, C12's 02, and now a WD, isn't the mundane great. manna
  17. G'day Gents Used to work over the widened lines, always very atmospheric, crashing around in total darkness, through tight narrow tunnels, after leaving York road station, then after leaving Kings Cross Met (low level) gliding along in very deep cuttings with buildings built on the cutting edges, in and out of some short tunnels, water pouring down walls or off the tops of tunnels, then the drop under the Met lines then up the Farringdon St, would love to build a model of it. Name for the Station/Layout, Smithfield Market. manna PS, my avatar, is of a J52 at York Rd station about to descend onto the widened lines.

G'day Gents Siberian Snooper, I can give you a bit of a run down on the buildings, the large goods shed started life as a Hornby goods shed, but was far to small, so it was taken to bits and extended, it's still to short, compared to the real one (by about 30') The water tank is a wood framed base, covered with plastic brick sheet, the tank is a cut down Airfix water tank and again cover in a thin plastic sheet, the roof is also plastic sheet, the inside of the tank base was once a coal stage. The station buildings are scratchbuilt in plastic but are still a work in progress, the station masters residence is almost complete, I just need to finish the chimney stack, the booking hall needs a rebuild, it warped when the outside temperature hit 46c, the rest of the station/staff rooms only need the roof fixing. manna
  21. G'day Gents Try using a Bicycle pump for the boiler, they're usually 21-22mm in diameter, and thin walled, Cardean's looking good. manna

G'day Gents Almost 2 years since my last update, where did the time go, things are going ahead, new scenery, has been added, but still a work in progress, I'm getting there, new loco's and rolling stock, as usual have dominated my time, A Hornby N2 has been rebuilt into a N1, a Q1 0-8-0 freight engine and a J4 0-6-0 have been adapted out of various bits a piece's, Ian Kirks coaches, are still being collected, for the mainline interests, (mainline coaches were, used on the branch at weekends) Hornby's have not been considered, as they look 'Yuck' The older 'shortie' Gresley coaches have been repainted to look like 'Teak' and are used on 'Southend-on-Sea' day tips, good excuse to run GE loco's, up the branch. I'll let the pictures do the talking. manna
  23. G'day Gents Taking everything in, let me recap-----use old Gravy to hold the ballast down, handy as it colours the ballast at the same time, brilliant, why didn't think of that. manna
  24. G'day Gents Now we know where all the wild birds are going, 'Golfer's' are killing them every day, G killed four today......shame, get back to murdering pictures of trains manna
