  2. Just few more pic's for now , layout getting there slowly. Still have to make start on the overhead crane at sometime
  3. heres a few pics of my bsc shepcote lane layout, based on a the steel industry around the sheffield area, the layout features a hand built strachen and henshaw rotary tippler and a traverser on the end made from a cd drive! this has two micro switches out of a mouse to set the end limits. All building and scenery is handmade with not many off the shelf items Shunting the coal wagons being done by three Tinsley class 08 all named , these are 08510 named Canklow 08678 named Stavely 08880 named Mexborough plus juduth edge 0-4-0 sentinal wagons for coal used are 5 mdv 1 mdv (mdo body on mdv chassis) 5 htv 8 meo 2 hto 6 internal user mso in bsc blue internal steel wagons are 1 hand built 70 ton bogie slab (see my other blog for pic) 2 triang weltrol wagons with stanchions for bloom/ slab 1 triang bogie wagon for slab plus the odd BBA for ingot traffic still got a fair amount of finishing to do, mainly on the stock, taken about two years to get to this stage. Been exhibited about three times so far, all in my local area (Newport) Hope to fully finish it by next year and poss do few more shows bit further afield . Thanks for looking any questions just ask!
  4. The wagon is based on the internal user wagons at aldwarke Steelworks as per photos on Paul Bartlett web site, so the model is an interpretation of them . built out of plastruct strips with diy transfers and bogies are of some American bogie wagon from toy fair for 50p!as these were ho had to cut bogie in half and extend it, slab is 5mm PVC foam board, needs bit of finishing off though
  5. My son and I have started a new layout based on the stainless steel unloading sidings at the end of tinsley yard, we've added an extra siding to add interest , track work down plus most of the ground cover.next challenge to build working overhead crane ! Few pics for now
  6. Will try and get video of tippler and traverser in operation along with some more pics sometime soon. Layout still needs bit of finishing off scenery wise, along with 3 tinsley named class 08. Wagons used on tippler are meo, mdv, htv and Hornby mso which will be done into bsc blue internal coal as per bsc Scunthorpe. Will also post the sctatchbuilt internal 70 ton slab wagon pics !
  7. Strachen and henshaw tippler on my bsc shepcote lane steelworks layout, all sctatchbuilt and working with working traverser on the end made from a CD player! Enjoy!
  8. thank you all for your comments and info, will soon post some pics of the items so far made for the layout. Regarding the VGA wagons your prob correct as i read somewhere that they worked with VAA ,VBA on the zinc block traffic to bloxwich so may look out for some cheap vans prob need about 5. happy modelling
  9. I'm planning my next layout Great Coates sidings No1 which is the junction at Grimsby with lines to the left going to Immingham via the light railway and lines to the right going to Grimsby dock. It will be built in OO with peco code 75 track and based around the early to mid 90's onwards, this will allow a vast amount of rail traffic to be modelled. So far the wagon list is as follows, this is the docks traffic so far ... the imported coil traffic will be large semi finished coil to Shepcote Lane and Panteg for finishing and finished coil(wrapped in plastic sheet) to Wolverhampton , Brierley Hill etc.. this allows the use of the same wagons BWA X 6 Cambrian BBA with 5 Colin Craig cradles - imported coil BOA x 5 Cambrian BDA underframe new floor, 3 Colin Craig cradles / handbuilt end cradles - imported coil BXA x 1 Bachmann BAA 3 Colin Craig cradles / handbuilt end cradles - imported coil BZA x 3 Bachmann BAA 5 Colin Craig cradles - imported coil BAA x 1 Bachmann BAA 4 wooden cradles - imported coil SPA X 5 FTG 3 wooden cradles - imported coil BNX x 3/5 maybe handbuilt - imported coil BVW x 3/5 maybe handbuilt - imported coil BMA x 3 Cambrian - export slab BDA x 3 Bachmann - export slab BDA x 4 Bachmann - export pipe from Dunlop Marine to Germany MEA x 11 Bachmnn - iron sulphate from Truro to Grimsby docks in jumbo bags plus any other steel traffic i can find! so if anyone can add any information on other steel wagons that may have been used to carry imported coil or slab to the docks i would be gratefull. Did VTG KIA run to the docks ? as i've got 6 of them and having seen footage of the running through Barnetby so could use them. Traffic on the Immingham light railway poss 15 X PSO tipplers to Tioxide 3 x TTA to Courtalds 2 x RFQ brake van adaptors with 3 x PTA iron ore cripples Light engine movements to/from Immingham Diversions via Great Coates Junction So if you have any information about any traffic around this area please post!
