  2. Few pics of this weekends progress, fitted the slab bolsters and test fitted the coil cradles, these being cut from plastruct strip with an angle cut off them then filed to length ! Only had to do 60 of these , think in real life they were made of hard rubber.then will make large semi finished stainless coil for them , one will be in EWS livery .will be used on our avesta Sheffield layout

  6. Must be some logic to my post as one of the 'likes' comes from DJM ! the same DJM doing a class 71 ?
  7. There's probably more profit in class 60's than doing a class 71!
  8. Just think of all the class 60 liveries there have been, Hornby could have cashed in on this opportunity , a boxed set of BS blue 60006/60033 or in Corus silver, then make a HTV coal hopper in bauxite , they've done a tope wagon which is just a cut down version , would have a best seller in my opinion, not churn out this same old grey ones! What about the new coke wagons, two versions only ?, why not do the third version ? All steel sides/ ends again surely would sell well. There's opportunitys to make money here by making what the modeller wants not what you think they want ! There is a vast difference and that shows today with the possibility of the company failing
  9. Enjoyed seeing dragon steels in the flesh ! keep up the good work and get your layout finished (says he whose taken three years) , nice to see the class 37/9 with scratch built roof , if you require the details for asw blackadders that i built, just let me know and will try and find me old drawings! Would also like thank the brothers Rolley and lord and butler for putting on the show, same time and place next year ! ? Baz

  11. Tinsley allocated class 08 shunts the empty coal wagons off the traverser at BSC Shepcote lane
  12. The coils were made many years ago, sprayed with humbrol polished steel paint , rust is real rust ! Just rub a old toothbrush with some water onto a rusty piece of metal and gently flick it on !he presto rust.Done a large pipe in a similar way will post pic at some time
  13. Cambrian BBA kit converted to BWA coil wagon with the edition of five excellent Colin Craig etched cradles, they are easy to solder up with the slot and tab method. Need to be faced with thin wood to protect damage to the coils, which are made of 10 thou plastic with banding cut from thin strips of masking tape. Got 6 of these to do , were destined for my Great Coates layout , but for now will be used on the Avesta Sheffield layout which is part built.Used to convey imported coil from Grimsby to Sheffield SPACE for finishing and Grimsby to Wolverhampton with finished steel coil
  14. Thanks br2975 ! Or rolley junior ! May bring my asw wagons to the Cardiff show , get building on those kits, see you on the 23rd Baz

  16. BSA coil / slab wagon , built using Cambrian side frames and bogies only , new floor covered in slaters chequer plate with plastruct bolsters, stanchion pins made from pins out of cd drives, only five to do for our avesta Sheffield layout Same wagon now with slab load, needs some Hornby class 60 buffers

  20. Just few pics of some scratchbuilt asw poa Blackadder's using the old Hornby TTA chassis . built these probably about something like 20+ years ago! Just from pics , no drawings or internet then! Just 30 thou sheet and evergreen strip and yet no mainstream manufacturer has brought them out rtr.
