  1. Tell me you're at Kittybrewster without telling me you're at Kittybrewster...
  2. For completeness and context, it appears it was double headed for transit to and from the work area and then top and tailed for the work? Here are the two Type 1s getting together. Interestingly, not nose to nose:
  3. Of course it's not, thanks both. It was the poster's suggestion it was leaving Aberdeen made act with caution. As you say not push pull and iIknow the location very well so it's definitely approaching Aberdeen. Best Scott.
  4. Aplethora of interesting pieces of roling stock in this view of Craiginches. Assuming the 47 (push pull in 1983?) is not running wrong line, the caption is incorrect and the train is approaching Aberdeen rather than departing.
  5. Brush Type 4s at Loughborough. Perhaps we should invite our forumites from the "For those interested in Classic Cars" thread to pop in for this one...
  6. Site of the former Perth hump marshalling yard. Note the site of the turntable surrounded by a "ring" of fence panels. Best Scott.
  7. Announced today in Rapido’s newsletter. The Bud RDC in N scale; details here: https://files.constantcontact.com/b02e8bb6001/76449d9b-bd72-4362-83aa-550ea1fe2ae8.pdf Release is dependent on sufficient orders by March 15th 2024.
  8. Having read the report from beginning to end, the biggest surprise, for me, is that someone on WCRCs legal team believed they could possibly be successful with their action… Contrary to Reorte’s aside, and with all due respect for his view, I find it difficult to have any sympathy for WCRC. Best Scott.
  9. Worse than that, at the same time as arguing for reliance on procedures, on at least two occasions those procedures clearly weren’t being carried out. On top of that, they’ve had since 01/01/05 to come to an engineering solution. One could suggest they were showing contempt for the regulation, both in practice and in spirit. Best Scott.
  10. I shall look forward to that with great anticipation! Perhaps you could give us a prompt on this thread, come the great date? Best Scott.
  11. Can anyone advise when D2 and D5 got their SYPs? I've trawled through the Derby Sulzers site, and other sites but just not finding anything... Best Scott.
  12. 1: The distance between the inside of the wheel flanges of each axle. You can buy a gauge set to the correct distance or use a micrometer to check this dimension. In particular, if the wheels are too close together that can result in a short. 2: No, I alter the polarity, either through integral switches within Cobalt turnout motors, or micro switches on servo mounts, or through electronic frog juicers. 3: Yes, these wires can be connected to your switching method of choice. Be sure to follow the wiring instructions included with the runout. Best Scott.
  13. This. As long as you ensure the rolling stock back to backs are correct there should be no issue with shorts. For one, I've installed and used in excess of 100 Peco N Gauge Code 55 turnouts, all unmodified save for crossing polarity switching, and never had an issue with shorting across them. Best Scott.
  14. I was assuming so, yes. https://images.historicenglandservices.org.uk/historic-images/aerofilms-collection-1919-2006/earles-cement-works-epw010839-4577703.html This link shows the railway connection, to a large extent: https://www.cementkilns.co.uk/cement_kiln_wilmington.html Best Scott.
  15. For one, I'm very happy with triple packs of the same livery, suits me just fine. That said, Steven makes a good point about variations of the same livery in packs. Best Scott.
  16. The wonderful and clever use of an imposing retaining wall, on Wetherbury Magna, to frame and lead the eye into another well realised layout, this time in 7mm. Terrific stuff. I wish my mind had the ability to visualise this sort of scene in the planning stage. First class modelling:
  17. I’ve been following Clyre Calley Railway on the Narrow Gauge Forum, and I was really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh. it didn’t disappoint. This is a layout that has a real purpose, and the operation of it is logical and makes sense. A real joy to stand and watch heavy trains be banked across that centrepiece viaduct. Another wonderful piece of modelling with lots of excellent detail:
  18. I think most of the visitors that I encountered at this display missed the point of this ‘layout’. I think it would have worked much better if it had barriers in place that forced the observer to stand back and take in the scene as the framing insinuated it should… A remarkably excellent piece of modelling and vision, this is as far back as I could get for shot, in a rare moment there wasn’t someone right up next to it. Best Scott.
