    I've personally got no problem with the women's football.

    It's just the hype on the BBC website making it out as being more important that all the other football taking place. As an example here is todays fixture list. No way is the WWC more important than the Euro Under 21's, Copa America, Gold Cup and African Cup Of Nations.

    There was even an article the other day about one of the women scoring more WC goals than any of the men. So she's really better than Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, Messi, etc.? Totally bonkers.

    Have you seen the amount of caps some women have already got?  Bobby Moore would have to still be playing in his grave to match the amount.  It makes me wonder if they get one for turning up for training:)

    It is different from men's football, but I think they should be regarded as being related in the same kind of way as women's and men's tennis - same rules, but played in somewhat different ways due to the different people playing it.

    While they are both contact sports, deliberate physical contact is not such a large part of the women's game. But I think the individual skills, and the footballing intelligence are virtually equivalent. And I don't see the same (shall we say) deliberate 'stretching' of rules.

    I just find that there are differences that show.  Maybe it is muscular and womens muscles in throwing sports (after all, netball came from basketball) and leg muscles in football are quite different in most females.  So many times last night my coffee table took some kicks as I helped them clear balls away. It's not that they lack skill it is just lack of power.

    Anyway, I really enjoyed watching this little US footballeress. Reminded me of Billy Bremner.

    I don't know for certain but they would be perfectly trainable to do so,

    More commonly something like the Newfoundland would be used for water rescue.

    Yes, she has just confirmed that.  I understood them to be a different breed more like a St Bernard.

    For those that Don't know Belguim Shepherds ( Chien de Berger Belge) come in four colours / hair lengths, they are recognised as separate breeds, the below is ripped off The Kennel Club to save me typing.

    Groenendael: black and long coat;

    Tervueren: long coated and seen in red, fawn or grey, often with a black mask and overlay;

    Malinois: with a dense, short coat and with the same colourings as the Tervueren;

    Laekenois: a harsh wiry coat, red/fawn with some black shadings.

    Are they the Belgian dogs they use for life rescue in water? My wife goes on about these rescue dogs but I never know what they are.

  5. I fully appreciate that after growing up on a full fat diet of mens football, women's football will not be the same. It's like women throwing balls its just awful to watch at times, similar to watching Spurs and England at times.

    Each time I get to the home page of RMWeb, the first thing I see is DJM The end...………… But when I look at the thread, it's not the end as it just keeps rolling along.

    I will miss that thread Richard if it ever closes.  I have no connection with it apart from reading it. However when his announcement was made and people got no email replies only silence, I feared the worst. I do feel for people who have lost money.

    Since that May announcement that thread has gone in ever increasing circles.

    Some feeling for him, some wanting his blood.

    Some defending him, some ripping into his work ethic.

    Would it?  The problem with travelling b y train from Werllington to Taunton is firstly getting to the station in Wellington, especially if you live nearer to the A38 that you do to the railway.   And secondly getting from the station in Taunton to wherever you actually need to get to.  I suspect that getting folk to change mode from door-to-door private car to using a train and whatever else at either end might need some fairly hefty inducements or disincentives.  One day that might happen but perhaps not yet.

    The station may be slightly out of the town in Wellington but having lived in Wellington a few years I would have preferred getting a train from there rather than having to get into Taunton and then getting to the station.  Especially if I wanted to travel westward.  Since I moved from Wellington the population must have increased sizeably.

    At least a repurposed Wellington station would be nothing like Tiverton Parkway serves Tiverton.

    Exeter is also expanding rapidly to the east. There is already a new Station that I did not know existed until I went that way in March. The potential to further upgrade the Honiton to Central stretch is there, IMO.

    The NR plan seems OK to solve two problems. Really what is needed is a robust railway and only in the most dreadful conditions maybe there is a need to postpone services along that stretch. In theory that would not happen in future unless there was a Hurricane?

    However, the knock on effect from the 'new' coastline could be a problem elsewhere, but I am no marine (or any other type of) engineer. That is why earlier I was not going to suggest an alternative as I do not know enough about the circumstances to suggest any.

    NR seems to recognise Exeter is growing but the people of Wellington, Som, had their station closed by Beeching and Wellington is also growing.

    I wonder if Exeter isn't one of the smallest cities with the most stations.
