  1. Well, you`ve done more than i have this year Paul....... Happy xmas, and here`s to more 'most excellent' modeling next year. Cheer`s, Brian.
  2. Nice work on the peak James, saved yourself a lot of fuss with the cut and shut on the noses.... Cheers, Brian.
  3. I love the little marker lights, I just need someone to tell me how I can have them lit at both ends together at all times. Cheers, Mick. Hi Mick, You should have a function for shunting lights on your decoder, which will give you the constant red & White lights at each end. Not sure who`s your using,(ESU?) but on mine, which is a Zimo MX644C,its F9. Cheers, Brian.
  4. Hi Mick, If they are to be had at bargin prices, then i hope it`s sooner rather than later, as i`m thinking of getting another one after crimbo. As i want a BR green one and don`t really want to re-paint the loco.(change modelling of plans!) I could have two green ones though......... Cheers, Brian.
  5. There does`nt seem too be much 'love' for the 05,i don`t know why as i think it`s a cracking little engine!. So to redress the balance i`ve put togther a quick vid (if a slightly poor one..) showing my yellow cegb one, which is fitted with a Zimo MX644C sound chip from Mr Soundguy. The sound file has been develpoed for the OO gauge one,but it works perfectly well in it`s larger cousion,so much so that apart from the volume i`ve not touched any of the other settings. One thing that did bother me though was the aparent lack of space for a decent speaker, (imho) so i thought i`d give one of the i phone 6s speaker`s ago after seeing them retro fitted in OO gauge loco`s.And so far to be honest,i`m pleasently supprised with it. Apart from shortening it to fit the width of the cab it is standard, and as this is a test fit, i`ve made no attempt to hide it either.Even so it`s quite hard to tell it`s there, and when a crew is fitted and the speaker is painted black you won`t even notice!. Cheers, Brian.
  6. Looking good, especially the pic`s looking down through the wagon turntable. Just a shame you won`t get to see that vantage point when the layout is populated with buildings and boats!. Cheers, Brian.
  7. My dad felt the same about diesels during his younger days,he`s oftern told me how he used to get sick to the back teeth of seeing nothing but peak`s & brush on the Midland line down to Bristol from Birmingham. But, during the past couple years a few of the said peak`s have turned up on his layout....(in green of of course) yet to a brush though.....! Look forward to progress on 'both' depot layout`s. Cheers, Brian.
  8. Lots of hydraulic`s..nice... Though it is usally the other way ...son goes for diesels, whilst father does steam!. Cheers, Brian.
  9. Your not the only one 'in love' Jint`s....... Next stop freelanced NCB layout. Tove.
  10. Buildings, trains and now boats......i give up.....beautiful modeling as always Richard. Brian.
  11. You seem to have been very busy one way or tother, but what caught my eye was the center cab conversion. Because i thought looking at the picture, that look`s familar....... So i could be wrong, but have you used a HO scale Bachmann GE44 tonner for the cab and hood`s by any chance?. Brian.
  12. I like the overall look you`ve got on your gronk, and the fact your not affraid to take a knife to a nice O gauge model...nice job I would though attend to the buffer heads as they look a bit shiney and black compared to the rest of the loco, well in the picture`s they do!. Cheers, Brian.
  13. NIce work Simon and cohorts.... I`m supprised the 'British Film Board' haven`t slapped a XXX rating on the film`s yet!! Brian.
  14. I see Cwm Bach is in the latest Gazette. And a nice 5 page feature it is too..... Brian.
  15. Join the club Richard....i`m already there..!! Get well soon, Brian.
  16. I went to B&Q (not the one in Wolverhampton!) and asked about cork sheeting or tiles. They apparently don't sell it any more as there is a world wide shortage of cork. They don't even sell cork notice boards! Well that`s a new one..!! When i`ve used them in the past i`ve always gone to Wickes for them ; http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Sealed-Cork-Floor-Tile-305-x-305mm-Pack-9/p/620950 They`ve usually got them in stock, but if not can get them... Brian.
  17. Only if you model using the "wax on - wax off" method....!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMCsXl9SGgY Brian.
  18. Hi Richard, I did intend to make all the track work inc.the point`s myself and i`d planned it all with Templot. So i don`t really know what angle the point is, other than it is an REA A-4.5. Hopfully the attached pic will be of more help you. For the rail,it would have been 7mm scale FB code 100,from Karlgarin models,as apossed to OO/HO code 100. And as to idea, your more than welcome to use it for yourself as i`ve ditched this along with the stock i was going to use for it!. Thanks you interest. Cheers, Brian.

    Slow Going

Perhaps it`s a bit brighter than the picture suggest`s,but personally don`t see any problem`s with the chalk. In fact i quite like the contrast.... But how about a very light grey wash to give it a bit more depth?,provided of course it does`nt dissolve the chalk! Brian.
  20. Well, with having failed at two O gauge layouts and two failed starts at the Cameo layout challange, (this year!) i thought i`d give this a ago?. So...welcome to my (small) slice of Mississippi backwoods railroading..... The idea is to create a scene showing some railroad employees working on a small criter, (locomotive) which is along side the railroads engine house. It`ll be typical of 40`s & 50`s shortline yard`s, where scrap, rubbish and just about anything you can think of is lying around that was once useful to the railroad and is now just junk. So what can expect to see as thing`s move along?,well, rusty metal, rotton timber`s and lot`s weeds and a general air of neglect will be the order of the day..and perhaps a bit mud as well..!! Anyhow here are a few of the bit`s i shall be using..... the content`s include, and not all shown are; cake box (of course!) small box picture frame (for the base) some white metal figures detail parts, inc resin ones. various woods and metals for walls/roofing and to lay the rail`s on. And the main railroad/way components are; the Kerosene locomotive kit and a couple of Proto 48 (scale US o gauge) freight car trucks. This is going to be a pretty organic build (as they say) because i only have a vauge idea at the moment as to where things will go. But hopfully it should all work together! So i`ll see ya`ll on down the track..... Tove.

    Dock Green

I very much like the tip for holding the brake cross beam`s in place, very usefull...and probably something i`d have never thought of doing myself. Thanks Chaz. Brian.
  22. I was thinking more along the lines of "Mr Benn".....or "Mr Jinty".....ok it`s a changing room, not a tunnel but hay hoe!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itd3qzeaIsw&list=PLh-Mj_oSkpi78njyijHli8BvcuQfCArtB Brian.
  23. You might like the scenery side of railway modeling, but your two helpers in the picture don`t look to impressed with the prospect......!! Brian.
  24. I did`nt want to put off,and anyway 'rule 1' applies at all times..!! Just so long as you don`t paint it in the purple-white & red livery that adorned one of their RS1`s......... http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1058092 Brian.
  25. Prototype for everything...and nearly every name as far as shortlines go!... http://www.msrailroads.com/Lou_Midland.htm If i remember correctly,it formed part of the 'Natchez Route', along with the Mississippi Central and another carrier, though i think the MSC was the only one to brand some of their stock with the slogan. http://protocraft.com/category.cfm?Itemid=658&Categoryid=20 Anyhow the Mississippi Rails site is facsinating site if you like deep south railroading, and well worth a look though... http://www.msrailroads.com/Mississippi_Railroads.htm Brian.
