  1. And, ironically, that is the only one that is sold out! It seems that 'any colour you want, as long as it's black' still holds.
  2. FYI, it was a joke. My layout and collection (such as it is) is OO/00. Although I am tempted towards EM, I am too lazy/unskilled/time-constrained to go full P4.
  3. The Ace site raises an interesting point. For those of us with pre-war inclination, who cannot rely on Merchant Navy Pacifics, will need D1/L1 locos to double-head the train.
  4. I don't think that that's a reasonable comparison, because the planes of the loco/tender surfaces are different to those of the coaches, both relative to the viewer and light sources. The boiler, for example, is reflecting much more of the sky blue than the coaches.
  5. Nope, I only saw the link to the survey today!
  6. Strange, because on my last trip to the UK I was able to pick up MR, BRM, and RM. But didn't come across MRJ, despite visiting several newsagents (including three branches of a nationwide retailer).
  7. Now you have it...I think. The irony being that Accurascale don't seem bothered by the difference between scale and gauge. (#297 was especially for benefit of the OO-isn't-true-4mm-scale brigade)
  8. Incorrect. The correct answer is "should have selected P4"
  9. I came very close to it. But then seeing shirtbutton-too-small-because-handrail-too-low put me off. What'evs.
  10. They still don't have a properly functioning website though. I don't understand why they couldn't have kept the old one while the new one was being painted.
  11. Oddly enough, KMRC have the Heljan version for only 11 drinking tokens more than the DJM version. That's a better comparison IMO. Or I could always paint them red and pretend that they're the missing cylinder detailing!
  12. I'm pretty sure that when I were a lad catalogues were free...on the basis that they were advertising exactly what you say. Given that pretty much all, and more, is now available on the interwebz, i certainly would not pay so much for advertising.
  13. Yes, I just noticed that the gun-only option is for the WWII version, not the WWI Boche Buster. Ah well, back to sleep I go (after cancelling that preorder).
  14. Depends on which Christmas though.
  15. Make them applicable to the early years (pre-war) and I'm in! Given the possibility of a birdcage fourgon, perhaps Bachmann might do something here?
  16. And will ship from our factories in China in 2023
  17. It's better to order direct from Oxford, then, because it appears that Hattons, for example, didn't get the same memo. They currently quote 42.50, 130.00, and 220.00 respectively.
  18. As am I, since I've had it on order for five years. That means it's not a new announcement. And the new H1 is, essentially, a retooling of the H2. Nowt wrong in that, and I applaud Bachmann. But it doesn't mean, AFAIK, two announcements for SR this year. Rather, since the H2 this year is the realisation of a five-year old announcement, and the H1 is pre-grouping, there are in fact no new pre-war SR announcements.
  19. Not much to get excited about for late 30s SR. I rather suspect that "76LR2AS004 Hong Kong Police" will stand out like a sore thumb...unless I can concoct a really good backstory!
  20. Anything that involves me having to join F***book ain't gonna happen.
  21. I agree that this is an 'eclectic' choice, to say the least. It could be introduced onto my proposed/work-in-progress layout, if only for a little levity. But that hardly justifies a major commercial investment, and I could think of other things that I would rather have (a 36T crane, for starters). I agree with points, made above, that this probably crosses multiple Oxford interests. I think that I'll order one. I just need to think of what will pull it ca. 1939.
  22. Hold on a mo', Geronimo. I had many hours happy play as a lad with the giraffe car. And the not-too-lifelike PO car. Good times! (Other than that, you're bang on!)
