  1. Lovely little layout Rob! Love the use of the Bachmann narrow gauge builds, they work a treat on there! Does the Peckett by chance fit in that shed?
  2. A short running session featuring the new Hornby R3680 - Peckett W4 0-4-0ST - "Forest No.1" in smart lined green, on Compton Quay my 00 Gauge Dockside Micro Layout. In this video we see the Peckett hard at work shunting a selection of wagons around the Quayside Warehouses. Hope you enjoy!
  4. A short running session featuring my recently completed Fry's Sentinel, on Compton Quay my 00 Gauge Dockside Micro Layout. The model is based on the same design of Sentinel locomotive that was used at the Fry's Somerdale Chocolate Factory in Keynsham, which was recently restored to full working order on the Avon Valley Railway, near Bristol in 2019, turned out in Fry's Royal Blue with Gold Leaf insignia. Constructed from the new 3D Printed Body Kit from Hardy's Hobbies, the model fits directly onto a Hornby Ruston chassis, with no modification necessary. Hope you enjoy!
  5. Many thanks! Very pleased with how that one turned out
  6. It been a bit of a while, but with the current shutdown, I've managed to dig Compton Quay out the loft for a spot of industrial running. Forgot how fun and photogenic the layout could be!
  7. Recreating the Fry's Sentinel in 00 Gauge In this video we construct the 100hp Sentinel from Hardy's Hobbies. This new 3D Printed Body Kit from Hardy's Hobbies fits directly to a Hornby Ruston Chassis, with no modification necessary. The model is based on the same design of Sentinel locomotive that was used at the Fry's Somerdale Chocolate Factory in Keynsham, which was recently restored to full working order on the Avon Valley Railway, near Bristol in 2019. Turned out in Fry's Royal Blue with Gold Leaf insignia, the locomotive makes the perfect subject for this project, as I show you how to create this wonderful little engine in miniature. Hope you enjoy!
  8. The sixth instalment on the construction of "Argonne Forest" my WW1 Micro Layout built in a Hotel Room! In this update the layout is almost complete with the rest of the forest foliage. Many of the little details such as figures and trench items have also been put into place, bring the layout to life. Not only have I been working on the layout, but also the start of the rolling stock too, with the addition of a new Bachmann Baldwin Class 10-12-D 4-6-0T, which has been detailed and a modified for use on Argonne and Amiens 1918. The next step is to finish off wiring the electrics, before hopefully we can get our first train running! Hope you enjoy!
  9. Many thanks indeed! Oh yes, can certainly do a lot with micros! More progress coming soon
  10. The fifth instalment on the construction of "Argonne Forest" my WW1 Micro Layout built in a Hotel Room! In this update many milestones have been passed, starting with the all important mud effect has being added. As you can imagine this was quite a messy task, and certainly a challenge to do in a hotel room, without making to much mess! While this was drying, the first of the trench details and W^D Model figures were added, create the first of many little cameos on the layout. Not only that, the start of the the foliage has been added, creating the dense forest in which the scene is set. Hope you enjoy!
  11. Many thanks indeed Kevin! Really pleased with how it's coming together. Regarding you message about the figures they are from W^D Models Many thanks Jerry! Many thanks Ian! More to come! Many thanks Will! Don't think there's room for it sadly. Don't worry, it's safe back at home in my ROD stock
  12. More progress on Argonne Forest, with the layout getting the green fingered touch! The start of the forest and ground cover has been added. Think is a blend of woodland scenics foliage and other scatters, blended together. The tree arches over the mud track and railway itself have really come out a treat! The tanks have also received another coat of weathering too.
  13. Many thanks! Glad you like the progress! Oh yes, some modified Ratio Industrial Extractors Works a treat! Many thanks! Oh yes! Has been a bit of a challenge! Many thanks indeed! They really do got the scene very well! More coming soon!
  14. Time to get muddy! With the application of the mud effect, created using 50/50 brown wood filler & PVA, with just a splash of brown acrylic to give it a darker tone. Once the mix was ready it was applied by hand, very messy work! (Though I think I got away with it as nothing has been heard from the room cleaners). While it was setting, I took the opportunity to add the many tracks from carts and tanks, plus the footsteps from the troops. All these items where then glued into position, along with the first row of trees.
  15. More progress... Backscenes added, test fitting trees, ready for the mud effect (the messy part)! I also started to form the road, which lines-up with road on my photographic backscene. Much like on Amiens 1918.
  16. Making more mess in the Hotel Room! Bunker details added, the start of the backscene added and the landforms shaped and painted. Argonne Forest really is starting to take shape!
  17. The forth instalment on the construction of "Argonne Forest" my WW1 Micro Layout built in a Hotel Room! In this update take a look a the landforms which have been built up and painted, as well as the addition of the backscenes, which have created using my own photographs to create a sense of depth. The construction of the bunkers has also been coming along nicely, with a few hidden surprises... Hope you enjoy!
  18. Thanks! They are just some basic Amber LED's from Railroom Electronics.
  19. Thanks guys! Glad you enjoying the progress! Hope to get the next update video online soon
  20. Let there be light! Added LED to the Bunkers, which give the effect of oil lamps. So pleased with how the scene blends into the backscene. Other details this evening include the addition of the bunker doors and rock faces around the layout. Interior detail will be next on the cards.
  21. Indeed, nice and light to carry around too Many thanks! It certainly hasn't! Not sure, the layout and materials are all boxed away at the end of evening. Near know, they might of had a sneak peak
  22. Making more mess in the Hotel Room this evening, cutting and shaping polystyrene installation board to build-up the landforms. Once cut to size, I glued the sections into position. Once dry, they will be shaped further. Hopefully room cleaning won't find to much mess...
  23. Many thanks! Woodland Scenics Fine Brown, use it on most of my projects. Glad you like the effect! Very pleased with how it has turned out so far! Many thanks! Looks a lot better now I have the walls on it Many thanks indeed!
