  2. Chocolate anyone? Fry's Somerdale Sentinel wearing it's new fully lined out Fry's Royal Blue livery. Massive thanks to "Railway Mania" for allowing me to try out some early transfer samples. Check out his topic for more info;
  3. A short running session featuring the highly anticipated Rails of Sheffield Stroudley A1X 'Terrier' 0-6-0T, edited with real sound. 5. A recent addition to the Fry's Somerdale fleet! Rails of Sheffield A1X 'Terrier' GWR No.5! No.5 was reported to have work at the site during 1940. It was around this same date that the Fry's Sentinel was out of action due to an accident, so she could of been covering her work. Here's No.5 in action at the head of a short vintage GWR rake taken during a recent running session in the loft. Video to follow soon
  6. Thanks for all the info. Honestly didn't know the 4-wheelers were gone that early! Though my reference on the number of locos was referring to the number of models available on the market in the livery (both real and fictitious) compared to other pre-grouping liveries
  7. Fingers crossed! Was really surprised that SDJR was not in one of the earlier batches with the number of SDJR locos made over the years, waiting for something to haul behind them
  8. Hi Daniel, they're not quite right for the Sentinel, but they are close enough. Here's a link; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DINKY-28-280-SERIES-DELIVERY-VANS-TRANSFERS-DECALS/222596720580?hash=item33d3cc67c4:g:zL4AAOSwJhdZfIWn

The layout is part of my 'Plan of the Month' article, which takes a look at the history of the Somerdale site and its connection with the railways, exploring its modelling potential, as well as a feature on the layout itself. The magazine is on sale from the 10th September 2020. Hope you enjoy!

  18. A short running session on 00 Micro Layout - Fry's Somerdale featuring my kit build Hardy's Hobbies Fry's Sentinel, edited with Real Sound. The model is based on the same design of Sentinel locomotive that was used at the Fry's Somerdale Chocolate Factory in Keynsham, which was recently restored to full working order on the Avon Valley Railway, near Bristol in 2019, turned out in Fry's Royal Blue with Gold Leaf insignia. Constructed from the new 3D Printed Body Kit from Hardy's Hobbies, the model fits directly onto a Hornby Ruston chassis, with no modification necessary. In this video we see the Sentinel shunting deliveries into the Somerdale site, before returning with load vans of produce. Sounds are provided by the real locomotive, which is preserved on the Avon Valley Railway, near Fry's Somerdale Chocolate Factory where she once worked. Hope you enjoy!
