  1. Well breakfast was enjoyed, the grapefruit was a red one and so juicy! Very nice as was the toast with Marmite on mine and Peanut Butter and Lime Marmalade on SWMBO's. She thinks mine is disgusting and I think hers is worse but the world would be a boring place if we all thought the same! BBQ Pork Ribs for this evening are always enjoyed by both of us! Lots of noise outside due to neighbours having a paddling pool for their kids in what is supposed to be a quiet area. Views on what is quiet seem to differ.
  2. Made a mug of tea when I woke up at 9am which was enjoyed while listening to Chris Country at a very low volume. Made mugs of coffee for SWMBO and myself at 10am. I enjoyed mine straight away while SWMBO took until 10.30am to stir! She is now doing some crochet while I have turned up the volume of the radio and am about to have a shower. Breakfast today is half a Grapefruit plus whatever else I can get away with. BBQ ribs are scheduled for evening meal today. I hope we will have a walk today or I will be forced to think of something I need from a shop!
  3. Just shows that this guard has not studied Bulleid brake history but I do have to admit I hate working in it for a variety of reasons led by the outward opening guard doors.
  4. All the Mk1 brakes on the Mid Hants have periscopes fitted and you can even see through them on a good day! Once I get down there for a duty I will take some photos for you. Our Bulleid brake also has a periscope but in the rebuilding of the coach for disabled use it now can only be used in one direction. Since I normally work from Alton and the Bulleid is normally on trains that start from Alresford it may be a while before I catch up with it.
  5. Well our evening meal of home made Hamburgers were enjoyed and approved of by SWMBO (I enjoyed them as well). I have drunk two pints of milk since then and am nearly ready for bed. Spent most of the evening listening to Lainey Wilson who I could listen to 28 hours a day! Still didn't do anything about the railway but there is always tomorrow.
  6. The DC Lines were electrified in 1912 from when they were installed.
  7. That looks like cream to me. Yellow is what is on the front of the 66 behind it!
  8. Never ask permission as it is better to ask for forgiveness EXCEPT with SWMBO in which case keeping you gob shut and hoping she doesn't notice for some time so that by then you can honestly say you have it for ages and she must have known about it at the time as nothing ever gets past her!
  9. I was sent to do some shopping by SWMBO and wore just a very light summer jacket. Arrived home wishing I had left the jacket at home. Warm sun with no breeze left me feeling very damp! Every time I look at my list of music it gets longer not shorter so I have decided to give up on that idea. SWMBO is making a crochet baby toy bear complete with moving legs and arms. Every five minutes I get called to have a look and asked if she has things level or whatever. One day I will be allowed to do my jobs without interruption, maybe a few days after my funeral! SWMBO wants Hamburgers this evening, must be made freshly not the sort that you can buy either frozen or chilled and guess who has the job of making them and cooking them (and then being told what is wrong with them!).
  10. I know it is not really part of this thread but it appears that the platforms had no run round loops so did they keep a loco at AP and step back ?
  11. So that's the two daughters but where is mum?
  12. Breakfast eaten (fried bacon, fried egg and toast), tea drunk, about to get a mugacoffee. Yesterday was scrambled egg on toast and the day before porridge so I don't have too much fried stuff! Living in a fifth floor flat I have some great views across London but thankfully no garden as I hate gardening with a passion. Probably go for an exercise walk via one of the local shops to collect some milk. I really need to get my bedroom tidied so a start can be made on the layout. I have had goodness knows how long and have failed miserably to make even a start to the job that was going to be done as soon as I retired (that would have been 13th May 2016)! I blame too much time spent on RMweb and doing jobs SWMBO thinks are more important. Stay safe, be alert (most of those who need be alert don't seem to know what it means).
  13. There is a point like that at Ropley on the Mid Hants. I think they are called Barry Slips but I may be totally wrong with the name.
  14. The BSKs have three holes in the floor. I regularly sweep the floor on the Mid Hants and the last bits of dust go down the holes very nicely!
  15. I tried calling the number from my mobile and get ringing.
  16. My wife and I both have mobile phones and we have a home phone which is part of the Broadband deal I have. We had the call blocking service but still got around four spam calls a week from all the usual suspects. As we never give out our home number to friends we solved the problem by just removing the phone from the line so all they get is constant ringing that is never answered. I hope they enjoy waiting for us to answer. It saves me blowing my spare Acme thunderer down the phone at them.
  17. Now you have us all wondering what you have come up with for them!
  18. Now under new management and in much better condition although the rails are somewhat closer than they used to be!
  19. Many years ago I stood up on a train when a pregnant woman got on and it was standing room only. To which she told me that I was being sexist, she was pregnant not disabled. So I barged past her and sat down again! The two ladies on either side of me both told me I had done the right thing and one said she would have slapped her rou d the face for being so rude if she had been in my position.
  20. Listening to Chris Country radio most of the day every day and then my Lainey Wilson 17 song Spotify playlist during the evening.
  21. Most people are indeed keeping well away from everyone but we have a few 'runners' who totally ignore the idea of social distancing and I was called racist because I moved out of the way of a large group of African looking people! I just said sorry and kept moving.
  22. Nothing wrong with US diseasals provided they don't come here! They would get stuck in our tunnels and alongside our platforms.
  23. My plans for my own layout which has a heritage railway is that there will be no turntable. Most of my steam locos are tank engines but the few tender engines will run tender first half the time.
  24. I am not surprised and I could add lots of others I enjoy like Steeleye Span, Dusty Springfield, ABBA, Supremes....... the list is endless and I also enjoy some classical music so I have just listed the ones I listen to most evenings on Spotify.
