  1. Hi Tony......... they come supplied flat and you cut them to length and width and form the profile to your needs, looking at the profile it would appear you would only have to form both edges, should be okay, as I said I have used them before and use them at all times now as a matter of choice......sorry I have not replied before as I was away in the Emerald Isle for holidays.......Dave.....
  2. Hi....I was just wondering if the Branchlines universal brass roof may be any good, it is 260mm long and I have used them a number of times and found them very good, hope it helps......Dave.....
  3. Well problem solved...........a chance phone call with a fellow modeller reveals he has sheet 24 lurking in the depths of a cupboard so there we are work can start on the coach.......thank you to those who gave various advice.......regards Dave brighty.......
  4. Hi pete.......yes I think you may be right I have e mailed hmrs asking if they do them in 4mm, we shall see......Dave.....
  5. According to the instructions with the kit the first was withdrawn in 1933 and the last one in 1944...........a total of 4 being built in 1901/2.....2 weighing vans, and 2 packing vans...........Dave.......
  6. Hi there.....I. Bought one of these kits at rail wells last year and am just starting it, it all seems fairly straightforward except I do not seem to be able to find any transfers for the the kit, namely “LMS or Midland newspaper van “ which appears to go along the side of the van, I would be grateful if anyone has done one of these vans and could tell me where to obtain said the transfers I have looked at the normal transfer companies HMRS, model master etc, perhaps I have missed it......regards Dave brighty.....
  7. Hi Garry.......thank you for the input and the video, very nice, it will give me food for thought as they say, still not sure what course of action to take.......regards....Dave.....
  8. Here is hoping someone may be able to give me some advice.........I have at present a 00 gauge Exley portsmouth set which is three rail....it is a 2 coach set, one powered one non powered,.....the motor still runs quite well for its age without taking it apart, a good friend of mine has offered to convert it to 2 rail running, the question is how would be the best way of doing it......1) taking the motor out and replacing the wheels and pick ups to run on 2 rail or 2) perhaps replacing the motor unit with a suitable modern unit ie. Bachmann or Hornby etc........has anyone attempted this conversion, I am open to suggestions even if it means leave well alone and leave it 3 rail.....Dave Brighty.......
  9. Have previously bought kits from this shop off e bay in the past at very good prices so, as we were on holiday this week I called in and I was very surprised at the quantity of good model railway stuff for sale, the owner quickly found me another kit I was after and also a number of other items I found whilst rummaging around, came out £25 poorer but very happy with my purchases, worthwhile a visit if you are on the Isle of Wight.
  10. Hi mark.......I will pm you my details.......regards.....Dave.
  11. Hi there Mark.........I have been following this article and have corresponded with Jonathon and he has kindly sent me the drawings that he has......the transfers also seem to be elusive to find but I would certainly be interested if you are doing some transfers....regards. Dave...
  12. The chap I got the transfers from was called Eric Gates, I believe something to do with Woodham wagon works, he lives in the Bristol area and I got the transfers about 5 years ago, I am afraid I have no contact details for him......regards....Dave
  13. Hi there..... if you would like to pm me with your address I have a spare sheet of these transfers which may help you out Regards....Dave Brighty....
  14. Hi there.... I have been reading this thread and I have been trying to add a photo to a reply elsewhere.......when I try and add the photo to the reply it keeps coming out upside down and I cannot seem to get the photo the right way up, any help would be grateful....regards Dave Brighty....
  15. Hi there.....further to my request for transfers for these wagons, Mr Railtec came up trumps and did some lovely transfers for me which I have attached.......I am very happy with the results and thanks to railtec the wagons are finally finished........the tool and mess vans are from Haye developments and the large breakdown van is Blacksmith......just waiting for the D & S Cowans crane to be finished and painted and that will be my breakdown wagons all finished, then onto the next project.... Thanks for the comments and help, there always seems to be someone who can help us modellers out Dave Brighty.......
  16. Hi there.....many thanks for the replies I have had re the transfers, especially to Castle pointing out my error on the keyboard ( well that’s my story and I am sticking to it).... also mr. 17. Hi there......I have been following this item with keen interest as I have built the two tool and mess vehicles and also the Blacksmith models breakdown tool van, which I have painted in gwr.....the question I have that I hope someone may be able to help with is where the to get the gwr transfers from, they are the 25 foot GW and numbers......I have tried railtec transfers but am still waiting almost a year now and was wondering if anyone else has built these vans in gwr and where they have got the transfers from, I was wondering if available if O gauge transfers may suffice........here’s hoping......Dave brighty.....
  18. Hi david......thank you for the info on the bogies, i can look into the facts you gave me and hopefully move forward...... Regards........Dave.......
  19. Hi Dave......many thanks this is a bit more info in getting ready to start this kit, this is the first time I have seen a diagram of this kit, I see you say you have two etches of the kit , have you built one at all ??, and would you know what bogies might be used, I think it might be the dean bogies but again I am not sure, again thank you very much for this information.......regards.....Dave.....
  20. Hi Nick........many thanks for the reply......I should have mentioned in the post that the kit is one for the clerestory tpo coach, which should be one of the L diagrams.......it has three large doors on one side and none on the other.....
  21. Hi there.....I have recently purchased a Peter K Gwr tpo vehicle.....it comes with sides and ends, I have tried phoning and e mailing kemilway who are currently selling this item but to date I have had no response......I was wondering if anyone has made one up or if anyone knows.... A). What type of underframe detail would be required, it is 48'6" long and where I might buy the same B). What type of bogies would be used I have found 1 picture of one in Jim Russell's Gwr coach appendix, but no plans or much else It has the makings of a lovely model and I am hoping someone may be able to help me out Regards Dave brighty......
  22. I have e-mailed Brassmasters twice now and as usual no reply from them about this conversion.....bet if I was interested in a loco kit I would have had a reply. !!!!!!!!!!.... Dave brighty.......
  23. Well, all I can say is that mine arrived about a week ago, the USA black, and it is absolutely superb, it looks great, runs very quietly, goes over my peco points a treat, at a very slow speed, what more can a happy bunny say, I think they will not hang around for long, very happy indeed.........Dave brighty....
  24. Well I must say that looks really good and deserves the praise it has received......I was so impressed with this article I have just tonight purchased a loco from good old e-bay to have a go myself, I even found some old etched plates in my box of bits and a nice safety valve......I love the canopy under the roof looks good.......well done, a smashing article and gives us all a bit of inspiration..... Dave brighty.......
