  1. Well mine arrived safe and sound this morning after a Royal Mail e Mail saying it was out for delivery today……..put it on the track and what a little cracker it is, runs beautifully smooth, quiet as the proverbially mouse and looks absolutely great and stunning, well worth the wait and more importantly well done Kernow………. dave brighty………
  2. I would just like to thank the organisers of this show for a really good experience…..I visited on the Sunday and plenty of parking , good venue, plenty of room and some very good layouts and dealers, all in all for a first visit I was very impressed, thank you and hopefully there will be another show next year…..dave brighty…..
  3. Just got a phone call from Bristol allegedly from Nationwide saying they were offering a free check to over 65 yrs for a house health check which was a government initiative to help counter the cost of living for your house……..they were prepared to come and check our roof insulation saying it needed checking every two years……they then gave us the house and post code of a house we moved from three years ago, rather strange as we have just renewed our house insurance with nationwide……when they originally called no security checks were asked for, just nothing………we checked with nationwide and they had not received any similar calls, but were suspicious of the call………just thought I put it up if anyone else gets a similar call…………….dave brighty
  4. I expect you wish you had bought one Alastair…………currently going for £130.000 plus at the moment if you can find one…….very nice to see……..dave…
  5. On holiday in Ireland and seen parked in Bantry…….I’ll give you a clue it’s an AC but what model…..I had to look it up, built in 1961 and only 83 built…….what a cracker and it was in immaculate condition……dave brighty
  6. Just seen 4/5 swifts flying high over Shepton, first ones this year…..lovely, just the job……..
  7. Just an update on the above…..after thinking about it I decided to block bidder B , I informed bidder A and he was pleased……at the end neither of them got it but another bidder got the item for £42. so all in all I was quite happy, thank you for your comments…..dave brighty…..
  8. Had to put this up …….just seen it at anchorage, I have been looking for one for about two years after I found out there were one or two still flying……..dave brighty….
  9. Hi……I have unearthed some coach transfers for lbsc coaches which I purchased many moons ago, if they are any good to you for your period I will be happy to forward them on to you…..if you pm me we can sort it out……regards dave brighty……..I have enclosed a couple of photos to help….
  10. Hi there……I am at present selling several items on e bay for my daughter(not railway items)…..we will call him bidder A puts in a bid for £5 but his top price is £43…..along comes bidder B we will call him and gradually goes up and tops bidder A by £1 to £44.next day he retracts his bid and the price drops back to £5 to bidder A his reason for withdrawing his bid is entering wrong amount ( o yes what 6 times I think not )…we now have a situation where bidder B knows the top price at the moment for the item……. the question is what should I do…….1). Withdraw the item altogether and leave it a few weeks or 2) block bidder B from bidding or anything else I haven’t thought of…….. I have contacted bidder A and he is not very happy about bidder B but is happy to leave matters as they are i have not contacted eBay as I think they will do nothing your comments would be appreciated……..the item ends on Sunday…….regards dave brighty
  11. Really nice to see what I call an old plane, not many of these about now that’s for sure……just the job……
  12. Wonderful programme last night like many other replies here I think we all loved it……I watched the documentary after and was so surprised to hear that Shaun Evans had a northern accent as well as Joan Thursday had a Scottish accent, they certainly covered them up in the programme…….again great tv, shame it has finished……..dave brighty
  13. Hi……is it me or do other members have a problem with the rapido train advert E1 blocking the topics from being read, I am not really tec minded and do not seem to be able get rid of the advert, very frustrating……..regards dave brighty
  14. Hi…..I can thoroughly recommend Black Square Decals for any related railway transfers, they are waterslide….just send Ian any pictures, sizes and colour you require and he is super quick and not an arm and a leg cost….I have used him many times and he always delivers……..dave brighty…..
  15. Just looked out in the garden this morning and there right in front of me was a humming bird hawk moth hovering over the budliea right in front of me, really nice to see……I had read that they have been reported in the uk but this was the first one I had seen, very nice……we lived in France for 14 years and they were very common ….I am sure other members have seen them but a first for me…….dave brighty….
  16. Lovely, haven’t seen a picture of the widow maker for years, beautiful aircraft but a bit of a beast to fly I would imagine…..must have been taken at about the time a couple of us flew from Bristol to Fairford on an Air Atlantic DC3 for about £30 return, felt like royalty arriving and departing by plane……the thing that sticks in my mind though was the line of Harry Moss car speakers all down the cabin side…….great times…….dave brighty
  17. Well chaps with no aircraft piccies to peruse over for nearly a month and with Fairford coming up this weekend I hope some of you will trundling along and we will have a glut of lovely pictures to see next week, unfortunately I shall not be going myself but I will be waited with baited breath for your efforts…….dave brighty…
  18. A happy ending……….we now have three chicks that have survived those dam magpies……here we have dad feeding three chicks on more pear left overs(there is a shortage of pears in Shepton at the moment)……they all seem happy so a good result……..
  19. Made my day……just seen two fledgling blackbirds being fed by mum and dad…..we have had them nesting in the garden for the past two years, about three or four days ago we had those dam magpies turn up and cause mayhem, hell of a load of noise and dearly beloved and myself thought they would predate the blackbirds, but it looks like at least two have survived…….we have been putting pear leftovers out each morning at breakfast and the male blackbird is there straightaway for his breakfast too, a lovely sight…….
  20. Ref the DC8 …….on Flightradar24 you can still see the occasional DC8 flying from Miami to Barbados or other islands also quite a few DC3 flying out of Miami to Nassau and also Convair 580 going to other islands , usually best during the daytime afternoon…….
  21. A lined tanner over, well how lovely is that to see, one of my favourite engines, saw plenty at Slough when train spotting in the late 50’s and early 60’s, happy days……….
  22. I also saw an osprey flying low over Shepton mallet, Somerset last week, that is the first time I have seen one flying other than an air show, I wonder where they are based……..I checked on flightradar straightaway but there was no trace of it even though it went straight over our house…
  23. Hi there …….I have just purchased some etches for the M10 ocean mails/ baggage coach from CPL, they look very nice too, there are no instructions with them and I am looking for a diagram of the said coach to determine position of underframe parts, battery boxes, dynamo, etc and end detail…….to date I have been unable to find any info re this, I have found plenty of pictures of the M10 running in Russell’s books but would really appreciate any help with a diagram picture if anyone out there has one or could point me in the right direction…….many thanks…….dave brighty….
