See you there as another ( not quite as ) local. One attraction of Statfold for me is the Burton & Ashby Light Railway tramcar which is an active resident there & will be hosting rides. My house is built on top of what was originally a cutting carrying its tracks. It’s now a busy main road. I have to agree with you about GETS . Apart from the hassle of finding my way off the M1 ( a rail strike day ) I found the event far too cramped and crowded for my comfort. One thing perhaps should be emphasised and that is Tamworth’s accessibility by rail from all four corners of the UK. The WCML is served by an hourly LNWR Euston-Crewe service and XC services from anywhere between West,North East & Scotland. Complementary vintage bus from station to Statfold which is in a blissfully quiet countryside

And boy,did we finish it.Just reflecting…as a war baby….on what happened to Plymouth in rebuilding post war and comparing it with the destruction of a Dresden whose Frauenkirche has famously chosen to make connections with Coventry Cathedral ( I have visited both) and which city has chosen to rebuild itself somewhat differently. As to the bomb……well then, have a fishie on a little dishing, when the boat comes in .

And it’s just a 30 minute leisurely drive from where I sit. Easy free access from Tamworth by vintage bus.

I wish all going a great weekend. With one piece of advice.Glasgow is one of the UK’s great cities and is well provided with some great Italian restaurants. If you have any “leisure time”,then I suggest you sample one …or even two.Enjoy yourselves.

Typical GW “spit”….authentic. Accurascale Manor does it too…enjoy !

As a gas turbine, yes it did work passenger services on the WR,notably between Paddington & Bristol on services such as The Merchant Venturer. Due to a variety of difficulties it was withdrawn from BR service as a gas turbine late in 1953 after barely two years work..An authentic train would consist of crimson & cream Colletts & Hawksworths but not Mk 1’s. Though Toplights were also widely used too. So good if you’ve any kit built ones at hand. It re-emerged as. 25Kv AC electric firstly on the newly electrified Styal loop in Cheshire, the UK pioneer of its kind. -
I have the same underpowered issue with lack of traction ,gear grinding, slipping & stalling. It’s dc only 56093. Do I need to return it to fix as it would seem that you have identified the issue above ? Or is there an easy fix ? Bought from Ultimate late last week .

I have zero online record of my order except the memory of the fact that I did in fact have one. I have trawled my email inbox in vain over the last two years .There obviously is no paper trail and I cannot recollect whether it’s DCC ready or Sound. I think the latter but am unsure. What order number it is I haven’t the faintest idea.I emailed HTG early today in reply to their request for the balance but no reply yet. I can do nothing without the details of my order being forthcoming.

Well if you consider the “khaki” Mogul,my money would be on factory error. Given current circumstances,it must be difficult for Dapol to keep a grip on matters at the factory face.

Many thanks Rob for this. A definitive outing for black without question. The trick is to enlarge the images of both. The Accurascale Manor remains sharp black. The Dapol Mogul fades outward with a tinge of pink. Well it does to my eyes anyway. The conclusion has to be that the smoke box black on the GWR Moguls is unfortunately repeated with the overall black of the WR examples. Both models shown on your image are lined with small BR e/c.

And now on Rails website.Well the first three versions anyway. -
Couple of points….and I appreciate your views….If looking for “a good second hand one “consider the possibility of Mazak rot as any around will be 10+ years old and could be affected : and secondly don’t assume that a newly tooled version will be coming any time soon. As an aside, compare this release with Hornby’s decision to retool the Black 5.Yes it’s a puzzle but atm things appear to be in a state of flux.
-
Many thanks,Rob. By coincidence,I’m atm looking at 2 e/c…lined & plain black Accurascale Manors. So your help in this is much appreciated.Certainly both these Manors are convincing so the comparison will be crucial.

Indeed it does. But they don’t appear in the For Sale section. So might this “just arrived “ perhaps refer to the samples first seen last September ? Perplexing to say the least but entirely in accord with Dapol’s policy of playing their cards close to the chest. 🤞🏽that they actually have arrived. -
Need help identifying this
Ian Hargrave replied to Tomslink's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
The models would seem to represent DR ( Late East Germany ). So possibly Piko ? -
On Summer Saturdays they could be seen working on WR to SR holiday passenger turns to & from Salisbury. I can remember 72B sending locos coupled together in strings to the station to await turns taking over from WR locos to Portsmouth,Bournemouth,Brighton etc. It might include Standard 76xxx,SR moguls,T9’s and Q1. e
