Jim the wagons look great and do prove what can be done with card. Anyway getting back to what I have done, I have now glued the basic body together and made a floor. I will show nxt set of pics how I intend to brace and strengthen the card body and add some weight too. and I have put lines on to where the door will sit

Hello i'm starting a project to make some vans in 0 gauge out of card. I have the van side profile from a well knowen railway monthly and have done as a trial some sides and ends. Here are the results so far...

Very easy introduction into building coaches. The body is ready done with numbers etc, push in glazing and clip fit pieces, only thing was trimming the roof edge and checking for flash on the roof. Built a few and ended up with left over roof vents!

When model rail did an article a few years ago they showed a mockup by Hornby of the clayton engine with a bodyshell made and using the parts from a class 25 including the sideframes it said the picture was from a private collectors collection Also of mention was the unreleased version of the triang/Hornby class 37 in br green still but with fuller yellow ends. a few examples exist with this from the factory including the primitive mask line put on mold used for the released class 37 in blue. Why did Hornby do a lime green large logo class 37 in the 1980's?

After GBL perhaps they should release the follow on Great British Railway Wagons Issue 1 The GWR Siphon D £2.00! Deltic has been another good engine for me, still deciding which way to go motoring it!

I can tell you the Hornby china made 9F parts will fit the older Hornby model as the wheelsets are unaltered in the spacing. The motion plate and the cylinder block were changed on the china and to fit would need to be used on the older chassis but should fit the older block. Only the Bachmann version i can be unsure of

A couple of things i have found examining my a4 compared to the Hornby offering.. The curved lines that seperate the black fom the garter blue the red line is right but the white is too far away On the Hornby model the loco chimney now is a seperate molding to allow all varations of chimney on an a4 to be modelled which this part work issue has a fixed double chimney. Inside the body the mounting for dummy chassis is on 2 single screw mounts. The Hornby has a clip at the back and two body screw mounts for the mounting plate at the front. Tender is nearly perfect just a bit of work on chassis a superb item all in all a good find for the lner modeller!

Hornby in the late 1980's Aquired the license to produce thomas and friends in 00 scale. To produce these they altered to main models, like with james The LMS 3f and extended this at the front and redesigned the mounting For the sspp 0-6-0 chassis using a bogie truck similar at the front to the older BR Ivatt mogul they released earlier. The E2 had the whole top molding redesigned around the tanks this included a new smaller dome and a reposition of details including the removal of front steps and always molding in light blue plastic

Another suggestion for getting the wrong side of people at a show the great gathering instead of the Hornby models turn up with repainted Brio engines of all 6!

i think its how a post on here and on any other site should be, encouraging modellers and their efforts. i knew a man who was a good friend at a club i used to go. he had a layout featured in a magazine this year. he modelled in tt scale everything he made himself or converted from other items. to me it was an eye opener to just what can achieved in conversion work

loco wise i have always wondered in rm they had a lot of use of pics by frank Hornby, i wonder where this collection/ resource resides in now?

this is a brilliant project it shows what can be done with a model that starts out okay but basic and then creating something from it which is so well done it would pass as rtr to me i had a few similar coaches ages ago mk2s and the chap who i bought them off spent time making them from plasticard and covering in a vinyl print the sides

cool coaches love the nse and swt version of it as well. colour on the coach matched the lima 50 pretty well

good point the later was so it had the uncoupling arm feature when it used the flyingscot centre chassis

cool models the gronks look better then they ever have its such a shame that Hornby went for simplicity first with the 08 and finished now with the super detail model we see today

if the motor has been well used it may just need another putting in several places stock a motor for this type on the net and ebay east kent models myself new modellers
