Evening All,
The tooling work for the diesel brake tender is underway as I type and the model is moving forwards. We (Hornby Magazine) are also now taking pre-orders for the brake tender which will be released in four liveries. The anticipated release date is May 2014 at present.
Cheers,
Mike
I wondered if an update could be given by Mike Wild, as to the current anticipated release date please.

70808 and 70809 are now off the boat and on hard standing at Seaforth rail terminal. Lifting to rails on Monday I believe.
Do we know if the lift took place on Monday.?
Any news on a forward movement from Seaforth.?
Thanks Bob

I noticed on another thread that Colas may be ordering a further 10 class 70's. The company clearly appears to be "going places" in terms of business, and I was wondering (a) at which other companies expense, or (b)is this just new business or, © because Jims joined the company.??

Yeah, its very dark around brill tunnel at 03:00!!
In the 4 years since i signed the chiltern line last night was the first time i ever had to drive the wrong direction on the bi-di line, i think the people working on haddenham station were a bit perplexed when i passed though one way, passed back through in the opposite direction on the same line then went back through again a bit later on with 2 locos on the front!
They didnt know whether you were coming or going Jim.

Evening Bob,
Casey Lane is in the small village of Hough. It's a good place for spotting and photo's as the freights are slowing to get into Basford Yard and as they leave they are still not at full speed.
Mathew
Hi Mathew,
Got it............I know Hough, just next to Shavington...........I do remember now you pointed it out.......we did occasionally spot from two over bridges in that area. But I lived on the North side of Crewe until I was 14.
There was a series of overbridges on the main WC main line......1.MuckyBridge, right by the cemetary,....2.Broad Street Bridge and 3.North Street Bridge, otherwise known as "The Eighteen Step Bridge". I spent a every waking hour at the Mucky Bridge.
Thanks...Bob.
-
Evening all,
70806 & 70807 passing through Casey Lane, Crewe.
I originate from Crewe, but left in the mid sixties.........in all my early spotting days here, mostly at the "Mucky Bridge" by the cemetary, I had never heard of Casey lane......where is it.??

No it's the new Bio fuel version.
Methane produced by the driver, is piped to the second vehicle where it's used to power the Jenbacher gas fuel engine, as it was designed before conversion to diesel for the original batch of Class 70's.
Internal pipework caters for the lead engine, containing the driver.
Drivers are required to consume copious amounts of curry, cabbage and rhubarb as part of their regular diet.
Driver derived Bio fuel production and efficiency is thus on a par with traditional fossil fuels and comparisons between the two are the inspiration behind the choice of the Freight hauliers company name..... Colas !
.
I do hope you have been strictly adhering to this diet Jim..???
My pal was at Crewe station this afternoon,,,,,even took his wife with him. he just phoned to tell me he had seen the locos pass through, complete with complimentary "toot toot"

Move is off Seaforth today, 14.30 .
-
Absolutely crackin Jim.............love the sound video.
bet you dont get any scenery built for months now that you have trains running...!!!
Bob.
-
I think its sometime late next week, its not my turn to move them this time though, so unless the other driver is otherwise engaged i'll be elsewhere unfortunatly
My pals were asking about the timing of the move.......let me know if you get a heads up on anything happening please.
Thanks....................Bob.
-
Yes, and I don't think it needs new motor / strip down
Well done Martin........good effort..!!
Glad its worked out ok.
Bob
-
Congratulations Jim................always a big moment when you get to run a train full circuit for the first time.
Looks really good.......great bit of video......looking forward to future productions........some on board camera stuff like we used to do here...!!!
Bob.

I had another go and pulled the cup off the shaft then did the rest by removing the motor
Did it work...???

Nice pics again Jim..............areas that are so familiar to me....from when I was a kid spotting in the early sixties.
We used to play footy on the Mornflake pitch while spotting at the same time.......then off up the steps in the middle of the bridge to pinch some shed plates from locos on the scrap line on Crewe South.
Good memories.

I have wired the positive sides of the led strips to the outer rail of the points, the red strip to the diverging side and the green to the mainline side, i then joined the negatives on the 2 strips together and then wired the single feed from them to the inner heel part of the point which changes polarity when the blade is thrown.
that way only one strip lights up at a time as it is dependant on the polarity of the frog, or doesnt light at all if there is no electrical feed.
if you go back a couple of pages you can see some pics of the big panel i made with a few pics of the strips loosley wired to the track which explain it better
So not wired from a switch attached to the point motor then.....interesting.
I'll give this some thought.......I'll need to brush up on the LED strips.
Have a good weekend.
Bob

Hi Jim,
What wiring up method have you used for the point indicator...?
Bob

Reported as both (806/807) were unloaded this morning.
Cheers,
Mick
Any ideas on a possible move.??
-
The best way to deal with him in my opinion......is to totally ignore him, and anything he posts.
When no one responds to him, he will then begin to get the message.
Next batch of Class 70's
