  1. I think next year Bachmann collectors event should be at one of the Scottish railways and they can announce the Caley Jumbo or 0-4-4 or the NBR J36 or Glen. We must be due a Scottish pre grouping loco soon. Until then I will be ordering an LMS black coal tank and hoping for some suitable coaches to be announced soon.

    Bachmann 1F

I saw the actual models at Harburn Hobbies Bachmann event at the weekend on display with maroon inspection saloons and some new livery mark1 coaches that Bachmann had sent up as samples. The 1f looked amazing with the half cab showing off the great cab interior but if you want one I would order quick as all sold out to trade and Harburn advising all of there's were pre ordered so none will make it onto the shelves!
  3. I think this just goes to show the challenges of Chinese manufacturing it is hard to have an expert on the ground with all the knowledge to check every batch sent out matches the original signed off artwork. We have seen multiple examples from various manufacturers, recently Hornby have been unable to produce LNER A4s with the correct height lettering both Bachmann and Heljan have had to offer replacement body shells for models with incorrect liveries. I think I prefer to have a correct model next year than an imperfect model this year and as others have said it only a hobby my Jubilee will still look great with 5 coaches and even better next year with 6.
  4. Does anyone know a good paint match for the GWR green on the 72xx as I'm looking to get the brassmasters detailing kit and replace the cab back but don't want to repaint the whole model.
  5. The latest Bachmann times has these listed as at the artwork stage which is usually 6 months from delivery I would think early next year for delivery.

    Bachmann 1F

Bachmann have said there is a new collectors club model due to be announced in Aug issue and they are usually a new tooling just released so a MR red would not be out of the question.

    Hornby P2

The sound functions include slurping milk, cookie munching and carrot chomping!

    Hornby P2

The way things are I predict Santa will arrive before either loco with his Ltd edition OO Sleigh and reindeer set pre order now
  9. Does anyone know if this new model is exclusive tooling like Deltic or exclusive livery/time period like LMS compound?
  10. I think it will be a Scenecraft model of the great hall and turntable at York so we can store all out lovely NRM ltd editions correctly!
  11. Just a thought but I am sure 87001 is at the NRM and there is the press event at the end of the month for their next model?

    Hornby P2

At my local shop yesterday and the owner was looking on the Hornby trade site and the P2 has slipped back until August if this keeps going back the full size one will be here first!
  13. I also asked about the 02 at Glasgow and they did say they were doing a lot of research into getting the right detail and versions for release before announcing any running numbers and it would be next year at the earliest for release.

    Hornby P2

Hornby have said tts is a budget sound range and will try to use actual recordings where available but will use generic sounds where not and as such the P2 will be a generic sound file. They did mention I think in model rail or could have been from rep that steam loco's will have fireman cooking bacon on shovel as one of the sounds so I think we can see the market this is aimed at.

    Bachmann hall

The Hornby hall will be done the same way as the Duke and P2 which is a one basic body mould to cover both railroad and main range models with some added extra details and full spec paint finish. The Hall will not be in the same class as Star or 52xx etc and the Grange will look far superior.
  19. I have just heard from my father that the sentinel is reviewed in latest issue of Rail Express magazine that the model has a coloured unpainted body shell with printing on it and their sample has a bad colour match to the chassis which is painted. I have not read article yet to confirm any other detail but if this is true this is a real step back in quality and worrying return to techniques from the 70s! Not what we would expect on a loco in Hornby's main range in 2013.
