  1. What a magnificent model- I can't wait to lean over the edge at the top to get a lungful of proper Welsh coal smoke (but in 1947 watch out for the oil-burners!)
  2. The Ocean Mails service survived until 1949, the Hawksworth Bk was built around then . I don't know if there photographic evidence that they carried the Ocean Mails branding- but it is a remote possibility.
  3. Speaking of which I hear Nigel Farage is replacing Chris Evans in Top Gear. That should push up Michael Portillo's ratings !
  4. Is that an overhead cable warning sign on the end - if so why? it's far too old to run near the Heathrow Express!,
  5. I have chosen to live with mine by 'colouring in' the windowsills with a non permanent brown fine fibre tip pen (Staedtler lumocolor) - easy to wipe any mistakes with a moist finger. Incidentally I measured the sunshine window height of my original Mainline 3rds at 10.2 mm and to my surprise my early Bachmann Bk 3rd is also 10.2 mm, I thought Bachmann had modified the tooling along the Replica pattern where the windows are only 9.2 mm high! I remember the early Mainline models had a tendency to go banana shaped, and assumed the smallers windows made this less likely. I would have a go at flush glazing if I could work out how to round the corners of an accurately cut acetate window panel. Mike
  6. Give Rob a chance- he's probably checking the footbridge CAD scans! Or chuckling at Mr Farage in the European Parliament
  7. It's pure escapism looking at your take on rural 1947, but watch out for the politicians planning the future of GWR !
