  1. Received on Fri 9th - super fast delivery. Thanks again - I will post pics when I have finished them! Super-service, super-product! Thanks Ian
  2. 4mm set of furniture just ordered! As soon as the office furniture set is available, I will have one of those too! Thanks Ian
  3. Thanks Jakub. I have just placed an order for several LCC windows and doors with the stone surrounds and will scratch-build my station using stone effect plasticard.
  4. Good afternoon, I am looking at buying the LCC B 00-00 Station, but replacing all of the window/door sets for the stone variety. However, I have noticed that they are not interchangeable due to the size of the provided windows/doors and the replacement stone variety. eg The kit uses windows 02-24, but the ones that fit the stone surrounds are larger (02-31). This would mean re-measuring the whole model and trying to work out which parts I need to keep the overall dimensions the same for the roof to fit etc. Would it be too much of a pain for you to do a Ver 2 of the station but with stone surrounds, stone corners or even better, the whole building in stone instead of brick? One of my other ideas was to use two kits (plus extra items) to make a Settle & Carlisle type station as below - any help to achieve this would be greatly appreciated. Ian
  5. great stuff - can't wait to see the results. I am planning on re-building my station building so hoping that the timing of the 4mm furniture range might be about right!
  6. Other suggestions for the 2/4/7mm ranges: Platform luggage & trunks, platform ciggie/choccie machines, weighing machines, folded newspapers, station clocks, canopy valances for the big 4, sheet of paving slabs to match the ones with the greenhouse kit, possible building component sheets such as wood planking, brick/stone, roof slates etc, various windows and doors with detailing parts etc. I know not everything lends itself to etched brass, but you have been very imaginative so far on how you can accomplish intricate detail and different shapes from one small sheet of super-thin metal!
  7. They say there is a prototype for just about everything! Thank you Edmund Kinder!
  8. Afternoon Capt Kernow - thanks for the kind words - I am not aware of any Midland ones that used stone bases and wooden upper section, but that's not to say there weren't any. As this is my little world, I decided a stone base would look better in the area I am modelling that a brick or wood base. I am using similar stone on the rest of my station area so its fits nicely. I just enjoyed the challenge of making something a little different. Ian
  9. Kylemore Abbey in Western Ireland (not far from Galway). I have seen it from afar, and it is a really stunning building, set in some of the worlds best scenery.
  10. Definitely interested in several of the planned 4mm kits so will be looking out for them if they make it to the shelf!!. I can imagine the effort involved designing these kits, with so much detail. I also understand that you need to make the as appealing to the masses as possible to make them commercially viable. I applaud your innovation, quality of workmanship, easy to follow instructions and advice! I just built a few Shire Scenes benches and the instructions were so hard to follow I ended up un-doing all my hard work and starting again once I found a picture of the prototype online!
  11. Good afternoon all. Just had an enjoyable weekend putting the garden tools set together and painting them. So easy and detail is really sharp! I am going to order the greenhouse/shed kits as soon as I get chance! Do you have a list of upcoming 4mm kits that we will hopefully see over the next few months? I know we potentially have the 4mm furniture range coming (antique office furniture would be ideal too). A list would save me spending hard earned cash on other kits, when I might be better waiting for yours to be produced. Platform/Lineside/roadside detail kits would be great and anything to help build a picture of 1930's England!!! Thank you Ian
  12. You should offer training courses for mere mortals like me to understand and learn how to create such wonderful models.
  13. This is probably the most entertaining, informative and diverse post on any forum, anywhere in the ether!! It naturally progresses from one subject to another almost seamlessly, and yet seems to end up being relative to the art of modelling a wonderful railway in a long forgotten era in a quiet Norfolk village! I cant keep up sometimes. I log in to see what the latest subject is, and I am dumbfounded to see that there is now free legal advice on offer concerning money laundering!!! Not that I have enough to put in my washing machine, let alone give a solicitor to clean!! I learn so much from reading everyone's input, and enjoy the fact that everyone is so supportive, helpful, polite and courteous regardless of the discussion. Thank you all for contributing to yet another good day. As my old friend used to say "It's a good day when your feet touch the floor in the morning"!
  14. Good morning folks - hope you have all been enjoying the interesting weather we have had recently! Still, I don't mind being in the railway room when its rough outside!!! I've been fairly active recently with completing a waiting room for the Up platform and building a footbridge, as well as more scenic work. The waiting shelter was built from the left over parts from the Ratio signal box kit, and the footbridge was on old Dapol kit, slightly lowered and shortened, then painted with LMS colours. Hope you like the pics. Ian
  15. Second project I completed yesterday is the slightly modified Dapol footbridge. I lowered and shortened it by cutting away half of the steps leading up to the main gangway. Painted in Crimson Red and LMS Buildings Cream and suitably weathered.
  16. Here are two of my latest projects. First one is a waiting room for the up platform. I constructed it using the wooden panels left over from the Ratio signal box which I modified in an earlier post on this thread. I added Balsa wood frames, etched windows left over from the Churchward signal box etch kit and used Ratio doors. modeled interior with advertising boards, heater, benches, people and working LED light. Roof was York Modelmakers slate tile. Finishing touches included signs, notice boards and weathering.
  17. Not noticeable at all to be honest. Its quite difficult to pick out which have and which have not got glazing. At a guess, I would say the 4th picture, side bay window (R/H side of picture) looks very clear through the windows, so therefore, probably has no glazing.
  18. Great furniture range - some of this looks like it could be used for office type furniture as well. Although a separate range of antique desks, chairs, tables, bookcases, cabinets etc would also be welcomed!!!
  19. Weeting Steam Rally is 15-17 July and is just round the corner from where I live on the Norfolk/Suffolk border and would give you the perfect excuse to stop in deepest, darkest Norfolk, do a spot of intel gathering, and then visit the steam rally to soak up the soot n steam. Great collection of steam traction engines, bygone farm machinery and all things vintage and a stones throw from Castle Acre!!!! http://weetingrally.co.uk/
  20. Aaaahhhhh yes, I see now - I had been priming my sheets first and the Colron didn't react well when I applied it. I will try it the Mr Downes way and see what happens!!!!
  21. I have had the same problem with the clumping. I end up separating the "balls" by hand and mixing various shades together, mixing it all together with a coffee stirrer. I have not found a quick way of doing it yet. Although when using my home made static grass applicator, it doesn't take long for the "balls" to break up. I find WWS grass quite bad for clumping, yet Woodland Scenics never seems to clump together.
