  1. Agreed. Also agreed. But I deliberately didn't choose one of those. Didn't want to frighten the local sheep . Similarly things can go very wrong playing trombone anywhere near Jeremy Clarkson . . . . . . Agreed. Maybe set up a shunting puzzle Trombones and Trains thread ????? Wagon positions limited to seven, of course. .... ... ...
  2. Thank you very much Kevin. I love the evolution. Maybe in the future you'll have to have an archeological dig scene showing one of your old foundations. Or one that you never knew of . . . . . . John
  3. Being a proper trombone player his "spare" hand can be seen just by the leg of the music stand. Clearly relaxing after operating the water key. I suspect he's just about to embark on a quick solo session of trombone suicide which the valve trombone and sousaphone player wouldn't be aware of. . . . . . . neither being proper instruments
  4. Progressing very nicely indeed. I do like the staggered buffer stops. It is an interesting period feature for those of us who 'do' PWay, but something that is avoided where possible on the modern railway. Not sure about GWR practice, but I've noticed the lights on your buffer stop beams. I think they are very rare on sidings in steam days. Probably because they all had to be manually lit (and filled up) paraffin lamps. Might be an interesting to wander through some appropriate time period pictures to see if you keep as is, modify or apply Rool 1 . The link below is a good source if you've not discovered it before. The few that I skipped through in sidings were lamp free: https://thetransportlibrary.co.uk/?route=product%2Fsearch&search=buffer+stop Hope the above is of interest / help. Looking forward to seeing more. John
  5. An art, rather than a science. Looking great George. I love the detail of the path crossing at an angle. John
  6. Hi Kevin, Agree with @Gedward on the cobbles and I like the view across to the Unicorn. But I can't remember a building that spans the road? There are still hidden corners in Little Muddle. Does the Squadron Leader have an aerial picture he could share please?
  7. Hi Chris, Looks good. I wouldn't think your phone box would need much, if any, weathering if it was constructed within a year or two of the setting of your layout. On a similar GPO topic I got into a tangle on my Mk1 layout when I wanted to introduce a letter box which I was going to scratch build. I was just expecting to make a shaped red blob on a black post, but much there is more to it than you would think (as with all these worm holes model railways take you down). I turned up the website below many years ago when I was looking for information. If you feel the urge to put in a (3D printed?) GPO letter box near the station, this might be of interest : https://lbsg.org/ John
  8. Glad that was explained. I was sure I had shaved this morning. . . . . . Agree with that @Mick Bonwick. They look really good. Post Brexit question ~ presumably no uk supplier and no problems with buying stuff direct from Spain (?) John
  9. Indeed it must Done that and I didn't get the rejected message. Another box ticked, thank you
  10. @MrWolf Still can't message you direct. . . . . was hoping you had sorted your signature
  11. The red outline is approximately the footprint of the railway in its new home. The out-of-square (partition) wall referred too in my post of 24th May is the long wall at the top of the drawing I have made of the house. As also noted in that post, the door is to be rehung to swing towards the dock board. My desk will move from its current position top right into the alcove at bottom left.
  12. Must have just passed out house then. . . . . Looks really good Kevin @KNP
  13. Oh dear @MrWolf. For all error codes and/ or other IT related problems, I find that a tame teenager, or even an 8 year old will sort it out for you. They can press buttons/ screens with thumbs and fingers quicker than I can change a couple of points and start a train. Alternatively switch it off and switch it on again. . .. . . . Hi @Mick Bonwick. Yes, planned to be a diverse blend of SECR/ Southern/ BR(S) with an infusion of Rule 1 John
  14. Thanks Rob. Hoping to get back on it soon John
  15. Hi @MrWolf, I tried to send you a private message but my machine tells me you can't receive them? I hope @NHY 581 suggestion has worked and you can now see all signatures. Mine below as a snip for reference. I either use an Amazon Fire ipad-type-thing or my laptop [if I want to write anything and avoid the Fire deciding to auto-correct my typing (mutter)]. If you want to add your own link/ signature on every post, go to Settings/ Signature. On my laptop that is under a drop down below my Fishplate name. I am presuming you have the same drop down for Mr Wolf on a phone version as well. Then you should be able to make the same signature comment on the end of each post and add a link to your own topic in the usual copy/ paste way. Hope this helps. Apologies to @Mick Bonwickfor going 'off topic' John
  16. Hi Mick @Mick Bonwick Thank you for your response. I do have a topic for my layout and the link can be found in my signature . John
  17. Hi @Mick Bonwick I have enjoyed reading through your topic over the last few weeks. There are some brilliant examples of modelling on here. Thank you for sharing. I have bookmarked several items I am interested in for future reference. Easton is firmly on my Follow list. It is also nice to note on your own and other topics I am following that mojo's can be lost for modelling on an occasional basis. I've experienced this as well. My railway and stock have been crated/ boxed up since we moved home last September. This is pending work on the new (old) house to be completed by electricians/ builders etc who have the necessary skills/ certification. Plus the inevitable diversion of my own time on DIY things I can do to get the new (old) house the way we want it. However, "enforced" abstinence means that I have been able to think through a lot more on what I want to achieve in the larger space I am now fortunate to have available. So my modelling mojo is currently bursting to get on with it. After the current electrical work is completed, boards will start going up again within the next few weeks . . . . . Thanks again for the inspiration/ facts / demos. John
  18. The railway has gone in the back of the car and off to temporary storage. Our Electrician has now taken full possession of the railway room (and the rest of the house) to get to grips with the 60 year old wiring above, below and behind the camera (and no wiring currently in front of it) . . . . . .
  19. Thanks @Bogie that's the one . (Possible spoiler alert; relying on dodgy memory and not able to check the Cuneo book at the moment, as I'm not at home). If I recall correctly (?), you have to look at the picture without the over-typing to be able to locate the Cuneo mouse.
  20. That is looking really good Chris @chuffinghell. Absolutely agree Chris . Designing with a calculator and drawing on film with rotring pens was a lot more forgiving. Plus, when your experience says "that'll be fine" CAD annoyingly works to x decimal places. It needs a button which says 'that's fine for a first go, now please apply some engineering judgement/ common sense'.
  21. That looks excellent Kevin @KNP. And this shows RMWeb at its best, with people sharing their knowledge to make a better model. . . . . . . .as noted above by @MrWolf. You wouldn't want to have to model that. Would you ?
  22. It was also used as the front cover for a Tri-ang / Hornby catalogue in the 1970's / 1980's . Not sure precisely. I still have my copy (somewhere . . .) There is a book of all Cuneo's paintings which, having seen several on the front of those catalogues over the years, (a 9F I also have on a catalogue) I was inspired to buy. John
  23. Agreed. Will have to look them up for more. Thanks for posting. John
