  1. There's actually a join on the railroad design clever versions, presumably at one stage they intended to use that tooling for the other locomotives.
  2. it just occurred to me that 2007 will presumably be fitted with a speedometer, which presumably will be driven from the rear coupled wheel also on that side. It looks like the crankpin has holes for it to attach to: . Maybe when the real loco is finished we'll get some limited edition undercoat grey version, perhaps with some of the detail differences attended to.
  3. I also think the front sections of the original handrails were removed
  4. Another one here a little disappointed about the lack of smoke deflectors on 2002, think I'll hold off in the hope there's a future release with them. I noticed 2002 has separately fitted nameplates while the other two do not, hopefully they all have them included in the detail bag.
  5. 2001 did actually receive smaller cut outs before it was rebuilt, will be interesting to see if Hornby produce a "full cream" version of 2001 or feel they might have saturated the market with the railroad version. I'm also not sure whether 2007 will have the myriad rivets atop the boiler between the chimney and firebox, I couldn't find a clear view from a quick google image search. I had hoped that the firebox might be a separate part, to allow not only for 2007's washout plugs but also potentially 2006's unique boiler.
  6. While the tender tanks look good, the washout plugs on the partially assembled 2007 models look like the P2 arrangement rather than an A1 boiler... 🫤 It does seem inevitable that there will be inaccuracies in a model of something which hasn't been finished yet!
  7. Could you possibly show a comparison between the bogie wheels from older releases?
  8. Of course 🤦 for some reason I thought the handrails themselves turned a full 180º to come into the smokebox front, rather than there being a knob at the end. Thanks!
  9. Just curious, why does the A3 have an extra handrail knob on each side at the front?
  10. The body still looks like the ancient tooling?
  11. Sorry to jump back here, but perhaps it was sensible to fit just one A4 with a double and see how it went before fitting the other three?
  12. Ah, I see what you mean, though it still seems to me to be more of a hangover of the original decision for the original numbers to jump back from 4498 to 4462.
  13. I'm curious what you mean by Mallard being promoted, I thought the bird-namers at the time of renumbering were assigned numbers 18-34 in the same order as their originals (4463->18, 4464->19, ..., 4468->22,... 4902->33, 4903->34)?
  14. I like the Modelu ones, though they do require painting Edit: again specifically the LNER ones
  15. Would anyone mind taking a close-up of the front of Gannet? I noticed in a picture from Hornby's twitter that the numbers look to be a more appropriate size? (cropped version below)
  16. Please could you explain how you altered this?
  17. Thanks for that, I admit I'd hoped it would be a lot closer. Presumably it's not adjustable?
  18. I'd be very interested to see more of the loco-tender coupling arrangement?
  19. Not SNG, but a more cost-effective model might be renumbering the Mallard in BR Blue they did a couple of years ago, as it has the double chimney and correct tender type, and the record plaques even are similar at a distance. However, the speedo drive would be missing, and the cab roof suffers from the slight droop some of the more recent A4s have had.
  20. I'm pretty sure the tender front should be green. I'm also pretty sure all 6 A4s (with the possible exception of SNG's latest repaint) should have tender fronts the same colour as the rest of the body... Edit: I suppose it doesn't matter what colour 60007 is now since the model should represent it as it was 9½ years ago...
  21. I think mine is behaving the same, however as I'm on DC, the lighting returns to on every time the power is turned to zero. Is this how it's supposed to work? There is also a quiet buzzing noise when the lights are on.
  22. I think the double chimney version has the steps in the detail bag instead. Edit: just checked the Sam's trains video to confirm (they have their uses!) Funnily enough yesterday I was eyeing my original version up to see how much I'd dare file the steps down to refit them closer in…
  23. Hopefully they remember to put the rocking grate lever on the other side of the Pegler era models. Aware it's just a drawing but the loco-tender coupling looks to be a new design - maybe finally a close-coupling mechanism?
  24. Just noticed - are there any sanding pipes on the Hornby one?
  25. I've even found variation between RTR locos of the same class. Back in lockdown 1, out of sheer boredom I tested how many of my coaches (16 at the time I think, a mixture of RTR Gresleys and MK1s) each of my locos could manage around my roundy-roundy. I found one of my Hornby A4s was much more sure-footed than the others, easily managing all 16 while the others either couldn't or slipped a lot. I never got to the bottom of why...
